Proximal femoral cephalomedullary nailing is one of the treatments of choice for intertrochanteric fracture. Zimmer Natural Nail® (ZNN; Zimmer) is one of the alternatives. We report two cases of broken tail portion of the ZNN lag screw during the removal procedure. This may be the first reported cases in scientific literature with this pattern of failure. We report these cases to highlight one of the possible problems that could occur during removal of this implant which can possibly prolong the operation time significantly if the required device is not prepared.

Annals of Surgical Treatment and Research 2016;90(1):53-55
A pseudo-tail is defined as a tail-like lesion in the lumbosacrococcygeal region that is not a true tail but one caused by disease. Perineal lipoma is one of the conditions that may present as a pseudo-tail. Congenital perineal lipoma is a rare disease and in particular, isolated congenital perineal lipoma without other anomalies is extremely rare. Here we report a case of congenital isolated perineal lipoma presenting as a pseudo-tail and also include a literature review of the condition.

Biomolecules & Therapeutics 2016;24(5):517-522
β-Arrestins are one of the protein families that interact with G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). The roles of β-arrestins are multifaceted, as they mediate different processes including receptor desensitization, endocytosis, and G protein-independent signaling. Thus, determining the GPCR regions involved in the interactions with β-arrestins would be a preliminary step in understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in the selective direction of each function. In the current study, we determined the roles of the N-terminus, intracellular loops, and C-terminal tail of a representative GPCR in the interaction with β-arrestin2. For this, we employed dopamine D₂ and D₃ receptors (D₂R and D₃R, respectively), since they display distinct agonist-induced interactions with β-arrestins. Our results showed that the second and third intracellular loops of D₂R are involved in the agonist-induced translocation of β-arrestins toward plasma membranes. In contrast, the N- and C-termini of D₂R exerted negative effects on the basal interaction with β-arrestins.

Journal of the Korean Society for Therapeutic Radiology 1984;2(1):1-10
To evaluate the influence of prior that treatment on the thermal enhancement of irradiation effect after hyperthermia, an experimental study was carried out using a total of 80 mice. Hyperthermia was carried out at 43 degrees C for 40 minutes and was repeated with various intervals. A single dose of 3,000 rad was delivered on skin of mouse tail innediately after the second hyperthermia. The Skin Changes of the irradiated mouse tail were observed from 7th to 35th post-irradiation days, and the skin scores were analyzed. The Results are as follows; 1. The radiation damage on mouse skin increased significantly when radiation was combined with hyperthermia. 2. The radiation damage after repeated hyperthermia is significantly less than that after single hyperthermia, when the interval is 1 to 6 days. 3. As a result, thermal tolerance persists from 1 throungh 6 days after the initial hyperthermia.

Brain Tumor Research and Treatment 2017;5(2):105-109
Meningiomas and pilocytic astrocytomas are benign intracranial tumors. Pilocytic astrocytomas arises frequently at the posterior fossa in childhood. Meningiomas have several image findings, such as a dural tail sign, bony erosion, and sunburst appearance on angiography. However, pilocytic astrocytomas with these findings have been rarely reported. In this report, we describe a mass with typical image findings of a meningioma, but diagnosed as a supratentorial pilocytic astrocytoma with early anaplastic transformation.

7.Cosmetic Lateral Canthoplasty: Lateral Canthoplasty to Lengthen the Lateral Canthal Angle and Correct the Outer Tail of the Eye.
Archives of Plastic Surgery 2016;43(4):321-327
There are many women who want larger and brighter eyes that will give a favorable impression. Surgical methods that make the eye larger and brighter include double eyelidplasty, epicanthoplasty, as well as lateral canthoplasty. Double eyelidplasty produces changes in the vertical dimension of the eyes, whereas epicanthoplasty and lateral canthoplasty create changes in the horizontal dimension of the eyes. Epicanthoplasty, a surgical procedure which enlarges the eye horizontally, is performed at the inner corner of the eye, whereas lateral canthoplasty enlarges the outer edge of the eye. In particular, if the slant of the palpebral fissure is raised and the horizontal dimension of the palpebral fissure is short, adjusting the slant of the palpebral fissure through lateral canthoplasty can achieve an enlargement of eye width and smoother features. Depending on the patient's condition, even better results can be achieved if this procedure is performed in conjunction with other procedures, such as double eyelidplasty, epicanthoplasty, eye roll formation surgery, fat graft, and facial bone contouring surgery. In this paper, the authors will introduce in detail their surgical method for a cosmetic lateral canthoplasty that lengthens the lateral canthal angle and corrects the outer tail of the eyes, in order to ease the unfavorable impression.

Annals of Surgical Treatment and Research 2015;89(4):220-223
A case of adrenal ganglioneuroblastoma is presented here. This adrenal ganglioneuroblastoma was found in a 27-year-old female 7 months after delivery. CT clarified that the tumor originated retroperitoneally and was large in size (11.4 cm x 9.4 cm). The tumor was surgically removed together with pancreatic body and tail, left kidney and spleen, and pathological diagnosis was adrenal ganglioneuroblastoma-intermixed. Adrenal ganglioneuroblastoma is extremely rare in adults, with only about 9 cases documented including this case.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1996;34(5):565-569
PURPOSE: To evaluate the shape and distal end level of the lumbosacral the cal sac in normal subjects on MR imaging. MATERIALS AND METHODS: One hundred and twelve normal lumbar MRIs were reviewed. The shape and distal endlevel of the lumbosacral thecal sac on T1-weighted midine sagittal image were evaluated. The thecal sac was divided into five types, according to shape and defined as follows : type I(pointed shape) : tapering contour, with rat tail appearance ; type II(ovoid shape) : tapering smoothly, with round end ; type III(round shape) : not tapering, with round end ; type IV(pointed ovoid shape) : ending in papilae ; type V(round pointed shape) : ending in papillae. The levels of the distal end of the thecal sac were also evaluated. RESULTS: Type I was the mostcommon(43/112, 38/4%) and the second most common form was type II(31/112, 27.7%). With regard to the distal end level of the sac, 33 cases were located at the distal one third of the S2 body and 28 were at the middle one third; 16 cases were at the distal one third of the S1 body, and 14 were at the S1-S2 intervertebral disc level. All lumbosacral thecal sacs terminated between the L5-S1 intervertebral body and the distal one third of the S3 body. CONCLUSION: Lumbosacral thecal sacs ended between the L5-S1 intervertebral disc and the S3 spinal body. Most commonly, the sac terminated at the proximal one third of the S2 body. The pointed shape(type I) was most common.

10.Effect of Topical Vitamin A Acid on Mouse Skin.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1976;14(4):297-304
These studies were undertaken not only to evaluate the morphological change of topical vitamin A acid but also to compare the methodological difference in application, simple application and ODT, on mature mouse tail skin. All 18 animals were divided into 5 groups and serial biopsy was done after application of 0. 05% vitamine A achid and ointment base. I. 1 untreated control mouse. II. 2 mice treated with simple application of ointment base for 7 days. III. 3 mice treated with ODT of ointment base for 7 days. IV. 8 mice treated with sirnple application of 0. 05% vitamine A acid for 21 days. V. 4 mice treated with ODT of 0. 05% vitamin A acid for 7 days. The results are as follows: 1. Increase in epidermal thickness (60. 2 micron) was produced by simple applic- ation of 0. 05 % vitamin A acid for 21 days, but epidermal hypoplasia was noticert by ODT for 7 days. 2. Induction of granular layer was demonstrated by simple application of 0. 05 % vitamin A acid for 21 days. 3. There was a tendency of horny layer desquamation and epidermal darnage in application of vitamine A acid. Most severe desquamation and damage was produced by simple application of 0. 05% vitarnine A acid for 7 days. After that recovery was noticed in spite of continuous application for 21 days. 4. Epidermal hyperplasia, slight detachrnent of horny layer and epidermal damage were also produced by ODT of ointment base, probably due to nonspecific stimulation.
