Korean Journal of Dermatology 1981;19(6):865-874
Testicular involvement in male patients with leprosy is well documented and may be associated with impotence, sterility and gynecomastia. Testicular histology shows atrophy of the seminiferous tubules with hypertropy and clumping of Leydig cells and hyalinization of the small and medium sized vessels. The hormonal functions of the testes have been studied by a number of workers, usually in patients with testicular atrophy and gynecomastia. In these particular patients, androgens are generally diminished while gonadotropins are increased. The pathogenesis of testicular damage is uncertain, though Wall and Wright(1974) found that testicular germinal cell antibodies were present in 75% of lepromatous, and postulated that :autoirnmunity, Erythema Nodosum Leprosum imrnune complex damage and direct invasion by Mycobacterium leprae may all be contributory.

Korean Journal of Urology 1982;23(5):629-636
Currently, uric acid disorders, especially including hyperuricosuria, are thought to be important in the formation Of idiopathic calcium urolithiasis. Herein, we estimated the serum concentration and urinary excretion of uric acid in I22 stone-formers, comparing to those in 56 controls. Also, various theories about the pathogenesis of uric acid disorder and stone formation were discussed. The results were as follows: 1. Serum uric acid levels of stone-formers were significantly higher than those of controls, in total and female, but, not in male. 2. Urinary uric acid levels of stone-formers were significantly higher than those of controls in total, male and female. 3. Hyperuricemia was significantly more frequent for stone-formers in total, male and female. 4. Hyperuricosuria was significantly more frequent for stone-formers in total, but, not significantly more frequent for stone-formers in male and female. 5. The incidence of stone-formers, in whom hyperuricemia and hyperuricosuria were not present at the sometime, was significantly less than that Of controls. These results suggest the possibility that uric acid disorder may play some roles in the genesis of urinary stone.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1997;35(2):333-338
Acquired perforating disease(APD) is characterized by hyperkeratotic papules with transepidermal elimination of degenerated material and is associated with renal disease and/or diabetes. Particular attention has been directed to transepidermal elimination because the articles on perforating diseases among patients with chronic renal failure and/or diabetes have been increasingly reported. We describe four patients with chronic renal failure and/or diabetes whose skin biopsy specimens showed transepidermal elimination.
