Journal of Clinical Nutrition 2016;8(2):38-44
The Korean Society of Health-System Pharmacists (KSHP) and Korean Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (KSPEN) jointly performed a nation-wide questionnaire survey on the current state of Nutrition Support Team (NST) activity from March to May of 2016. The aim of the survey was to suggest ways to develop NST as well as to improve the relationship between the KSHP and KSPEN. Compared to the results of the 2005 survey, some progress was made in the activity of NST over the last decade. Not only was the activity of NST settled, but quantitative and qualitative growth was also achieved by activating rounds and regular meeting. On the other hand, the ratio of hospitals providing home care services has decreased. Therefore, further effort is needed for their revitalization.

5.Structural Analysis of Variables related to Fall Prevention Behavior of Registered Nurses in Small-to-Medium Sized Hospitals.
Journal of Korean Academy of Fundamental Nursing 2018;25(4):269-281
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to build a model to predict the fall prevention behavior of nurses in small and medium sized hospitals. METHODS: Participants were 382 nurses from 13 hospitals who responded to the structured self-reported questionnaire. The research model was based on previous study of fall prevention, theory of planned behavior, and the health belief model. RESULTS: The modified model generally showed higher levels than recommended level of model fit indices and acceptable explanation. Of 17 hypothetical paths, 14 were supported. Predicting variables explained 51.6% of fall prevention behavior. The fall prevention behavior of nurses showed a direct influence of fall prevention expectations, fall prevent threats, perceived behavioral control for fall prevention, and intention to prevent falls and an indirect of influence of patient safety culture, attitude toward fall prevention, and the subjective norm. CONCLUSION: Findings show a need to identify a range of barrier factors to increase the benefits of fall prevention behavior and enhance the perceived control of fall prevention so that nurses will be able to promote fall prevention behavior in hospitals. Also, it is critical to increase awareness of patient safety culture among nurses.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1989;24(4):1086-1094
Fracture of acetabular are relatively uncommon, but when they occur they seem to pose management difficulties for attending surgeon. They are, however, important injuries because they may give rise to disabling symptoms. Furthermore, they are increasing in frequency due to the increasing number of traffic accidents. Forty cases of acetabular fracture were treated in the National Medical Center during the period 1980 to 1987. The short summary of observation were as follows : 1) There was a preponderance of young patients, the majority being in the 31–40 age group(68%). The ratio between males and females was 2.6:1. 2) The most common cause of injury was traffic accident(68%). 3) The most common associated fracture was pelvic bone fracture(48%), and most common associated other injury was abdominal visceral injury(30%). 4) The most common fracture was posterior wall fracture(28%) following to Judet & Letournel's anatomocal clsssification. 5) Twenty-five fracture(63%) were treated by conservative measures, and 15 fractures (37%) were treated by open reduction and internal fixation. 6) The results were as follows : excellent in 13(33%), good in 19(47%), fair in 5(13%), and poor in 3(7%). 7) The complication of acetabular fracture were traumatic arthritis in 6 cases, sciatic nerve injury in 2 cases, avascular necrosis of femoral head in 2 cases. 8) Not only choice of treatment but also determination of surgical approch require accurate assessment of the fracture pattern in this region of complex bony architecture by careful radiologic analysis.

7.Prevalence and Factors Influencing Constipation in School Age Children.
Journal of Korean Academy of Fundamental Nursing 2013;20(4):333-344
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate prevalence and factors influencing constipation in school age children in order to help prevent and manage this problem. METHODS: The participants were 618 elementary school students (4th, 5th, and 6th grade) selected from five elementary schools. Data were gathered using questionnaires and analyzed using chi2 test, independent t-test and binary logistic regression with the PASW 18.0 program. RESULTS: The prevalence of constipation was 15.2% for these school age children. Factors influencing constipation in this population were high stress (OR: 5.77), daily intake of meat (OR: 5.42), more than 3 hours using the internet (OR: 4.50), more than 3 hours of private academy classes (OR: 2.83), obesity (OR: 2.34), and negative perceptions of school toilet environment (OR: 2.26). CONCLUSION: Psychological factors and physical activities have an important effect on constipation in school age children. Thus, there is a need to educate both children and their parents on prevention of constipation by decreasing stress, decreasing meat intake, increasing active movement and increasing positive perception of school toilet environment.

8.Parameatal Urethral Cyst in Adult: Should be Excised

Keimyung Medical Journal 2023;42(1):62-65
The formation of cysts in the parameatal area has been reported as rare. A parameatal urethral cyst is a congenital anomaly and has been reported even more rarely in adults. In this study, we present two cases of parameatal urethral cyst and aim to investigate their causes and treatment methods. The extent of cyst spread was assessed using a urethroscope prior to cyst excision, and the excision range was determined accordingly. Complete excision of the cyst was performed as the treatment for parameatal urethral cyst. Both patients were adults who presented with urinary symptoms related to the cyst, necessitating the excision of the congenital parameatal urethral cyst.
9.Decreased Expression of 15-hydroxyprostaglandin Dehydrogenase in Gastric Carcinomas.

Yonsei Medical Journal 2008;49(6):917-922
PURPOSE: Gastric carcinoma tissues release high level of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) when compared to non-neoplastic mucosa, and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), which is the rate-limiting enzyme in prostaglandin (PG) biosynthesis, is often overexpressed in gastric carcinomas and during gastric carcinogenesis. However, little is known about the expression of 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase (15-PGDH), the key enzyme responsible for the biological inactivation of PG, in gastric carcinomas. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We investigated the expression of 15-PGDH in 28 cases of advanced gastric carcinomas by Western blot analysis and also the relation between its expression and the gene promoter methylation. RESULTS: 15-PGDH expression was significantly decreased in gastric carcinomas compared to corresponding non-neoplastic tissues and inversely correlated with the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen in gastric carcinomas. However, there was no correlation between 15-PGDH expression and pathological findings such as nodal metastasis and vascular invasion. Promoter hypermethylation of 15-PGDH gene was not detected in carcinomas, with only a negligible expression of the enzyme. CONCLUSION: Our results suggested that 15-PGDH has tumor suppressor activity in gastric carcinomas.

Journal of Breast Disease 2016;4(1):1-9
Hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome accounts for approximately 5% to 10% of breast or ovarian cancers, with which the high-penetrant BRCA1/2 genes have been associated. With the recent development of next-generation sequencing (NGS), germline mutation testing and its related medical and surgical management have been rapidly changing. In this review, we summarize the current status and perspectives of NGS testing for not only BRCA1/2 but also the other breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility genes.
