Objective To investigate the associations of atrial natriuretic peptide(ANP)rs5065 and brain natriuretic peptide(BNP)rs198389 gene polymorphisms with human essential hypertension(EH).Methods A total of 976 patients with EH and 976 age-and sex-frequency matched normotensive(NT)control subjects were collected.The ANP rs5065 and BNP rs198389 polymorphisms were genotyped by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(real-time Q-PCR)method--Taqman probe.Results There was significant difference in frequency distribution of AA and AG+GG genotypes,A and G allele of BNP rs198389 between the EH and NT groups(P＜0.05).The frequency of AG+GG genotype and G allele was significantly higher in the EH group(30.5% and 17.3%)than in the NT group(26.1% and 14.1%).There was no difference in distribution of ANP rs5065 polymorphism between EH and NT groups(P＞0.05).By unconditional Logistic regression analysis of rs198389,before adjusted for the EH risk factors,AG+GG genotype presented a significantly higher risk of EH(P=0.04)than AA genotype,and this risk was still significant after adjusted for the EH risk factors(P=0.02).G allele had more significantly increased risk of EH than A allele(P=0.04).However,there was no significant difference before or after adjusted for the EH risk factors in unconditional Logistic regression analysis of rs198389.Conclusion rs198389 polymorphisms of BNP gene may be associated with EH,but rs5065 polymorphisms of ANP gene may be not associated with EH.

Erectile dysfunction (ED) results from the interaction of many pathological factors. Studies show that a high incidence of ED is associated with chronic diseases of various systems, and its pathogenesis is not fully understood. OBJECTIVETo verify the clinical efficacy on post-stroke dysphagia treated with acupuncture at Lianquan (CV 23).

METHODSOne hundred and eighty patients were randomized into an acupuncture A group, an acupuncture B group and a rehabilitation group, 60 cases in each one. On the basis of the conventional medication, in the acupuncture A group, acupuncture was applied at Lianquan (CV 23); in the acupuncture B group, acupuncture was applied at Hegu (LI 4) and Neiguan (PC 6) and in the rehabilitation group, the swallowing rehabilitation training was adopted. The treatment was given once a day, 5 times a week, and the 4 weeks of treatment was required in all of the groups. The national institute of health stroke scale (NIHSS) and TV X-ray fluoroscope swallowing scale (VFSS) were used to evaluate neurologic deficit and swallowing function before and after treatment in the patients of each group. The morbidity of pneumonia and clinical efficacy were compared among the groups.

RESULTSThe scores of NIHSS and VFSS were improved apparently after treatment in the patients of the three groups (all P < 0.05) and the results in the acupuncture A group were superior to those in the other two groups (all P < 0.05). The morbidity of pneumonia in the acupuncture A group was lower than that in the acupuncture B group and the rehabilitation group [3.3% (2/60) vs 6.7% (4/60), 8.3% (5/60), both P < 0.05]. The effective rate in the acupuncture A group was better than that in either of the other two groups [95.0% (57/60) vs 81.7% (49/ 60), 75.0% (45/60), both P < 0.05].

CONCLUSIONOn the basis of the conventional medication, acupuncture at Lianquan (CV 23) effectively improves the swallowing function, relieves neurological deficit and reduces the morbidity of pneumonia in the patients of post-stroke dysphagia.

Objective: To prepare Lingyi Formula multicomponent microemulsion and evaluate its anti-lung cancer activity. Methods: Lingyi Formula multicomponent microemulsion was prepared by aqueous titration method using polysaccharides solution of Ganoderma lucidum and Coix lachryma-jobi var. ma-yuen as aqueous phase and coix seed oil as oil phase, loading ganoderma triterpenes. The average particle size, Zeta potential, and stability were detected. The results of antitumor efficacy including tumor inhibitory rate, body weight change, immune organ index, and concentration of TNF-α and IL-6 were investigated. Besides, pathological section of tumor tissue and TUNEL labeling were conducted subsequently. Results: The prepared microemulsion displayed spherical surface with mean droplet size of (69.92 ± 8.43) nm, polydispersity (PDI) of 0.060 ± 0.008, and Zeta potential of (-11.30 ± 1.34) mV. Tumor inhibitory rate of microemulsion (57.25%) was significantly higher than that of suspension (45.89%), immune tissue index as well as the concentration of TNF-α and IL-6 were increased significantly. TUNEL labeling and pathological section of tumor tissue showed that the antitumor activity of microemulsion was significantly effective compared with that of suspensions. Conclusion: Lingyi Formula multicomponent microemulsion has a good anti-lung cancer activity.

Objective To evaluate the cancer risk of benzene and formaldehyde in different indoor air environments in Guiyang city.Methods From 2004 to 2005,benzene and formaldehyde monitoring was conducted in bedrooms,living rooms, kitchens,offices,classrooms and outdoor environments in winter,spring and autumn,and human health risk assessment was done. Results The mean benzene and formaldehyde concentration in different environments were lower than the China indoor air quality standard except for formaldehyde concentration in offices.The benzene cancer risks of male and female adults were 1.63?10~4 and 1.40?10~(-4)respectively.The formaldehyde cancer risks of male and female adults were 6.05?10~(-4)and 5.23?10~(-4) respectively.The human formaldehyde cancer risk was higher than benzene cancer risk,and the risk for male was higher than that for female.Benzene and formaldehyde cancer risks of different population in different indoor environments were above 1.00?10~(-6), the acceptable level of human cancer risk.Conclusion The benzene and formaldehyde concentrations in different environment in Guiyang city has the high cancer risks to human health.

BACKGROUND: Xiongbitong capsule (capsule) increases blood flow in myocardial ischemic area in patients with coronary heart disease, lessens the size of myocardial infarction and improves ischemic S-T alternation in electrocardiogram (ECG).OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of the capsule on NO metabolism on arterial wall in rabbits and explore the improvement of such drug on myocardial blood flow and protection on myocardium.DESIGN: Randomized group division and control experiment were designed.SETTING: Department of First Internal Medicine, Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Weifang, Shandong.MATERIALS: The experiment was performed in Teaching-Research Room of Physiology of Weifang Medical College from April 2003 to February 2004. Totally 30 healthy adult rabbits were employed, of either sex and randomized into 3 groups, named normal control, model group and treatment group, 3 rabbits in each one.METHODS: ① Preparation of hyperlipemia (HP) model: In normal control, common granular forage was used. In model group, modeling forage was applied (common granular forage + 3% pig oil + 1% cholesterol powder). In treatment group, besides modeling forage, at the end of the 6th week, the capsule [composed of taizishen (Radix Pseudstellariae), yunling (Poria), gualou (Frnctus Trichosanthis), qingxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae), juhong (Exocarpium Citri Grandis), shichangpu (Rhizoma Acori Graminei), yujin (Radix Curcumaea), zhifuhua (Flos Inulae), jiangxiang (Lignum Dalbergiae Odoriferae), danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), maidong (Radix Liriopis Platyphyllae) and wuweizi (Frnctus Schisandrae).] was administrated every day for gastric perfusion at 1 pill/kg with 10 mL physiological saline for 3 weeks. The intervention was applied totally for 8 weeks. ② Nitrieoxide synthase (NOS) and NO metabolic product kits were provided from Radiation Medical Institute of Military Academy of Medical Sciences. The operation was based on the instrnction. NOS activity was calculated and expressed by NO amount (nmol) produced in one-gram tissue per minutes.Spectrophotometer was used to measure the optic density of sample at 545nm. Sodium nitrite solution was used to prepare standard curve. The concentration of serum NO metabolic products, NO2- and NO3- was expressed with μmol/L. ③ T test was applied for difference comparison among measurement data.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Comparison of NOS activity and concentration of serum NO metabolic products in vessel-wall tissue in eachgroup.RESULTS: Totally 30 rabbits all entered result analysis. For NOS activity and concentration of serum NO metabolic products in arterial-wall tissue,the results in model group and treatment group were lower remarkably than the control (P ＜ 0.05-0.01) and the results in treatment group were higher remarkably than model group (P ＜ 0.05).CONCLUSION: ① NO system of arterial wall is damaged in HP rabbits and NO metabolic level is decreased in serum. ② Xiongbitong capsule improves the above situation and brings the resistance of myocardial ischemia and protection of myocardium into play.

Objective To explore the influence of smoking on olfactory disorder in Parkinson's disease (PD). Methods According to smoking or not, 167 PD patients ( PD group) and 100 normal controls ( normal control group) were divided into smoking subgroups and non-smoking subgroups.The olfactory identification threshold was tested by T&T olfactory assessment.Results Compared with normal control group, the scores of MMSE and montreal cognitive assessment in PD group were significantly decreased ( all P<0.05 ) , age, smoking history, the rate of male had no statistical significance ( all P>0.05 ) .The olfactory identification threshold in PD group was significantly higher than normal control group (t=6.785, P=0.000).Compared with PD smoking subgroup, the olfactory identification threshold in non-smoking subgroup was significantly higher (t=-3.000, P=0.003).The olfactory identification threshold in normal control smoking subgroup was significantly lower (t=0.784, P=0.435). The olfactory identification threshold of PD smokers had no correlation with smoking pack-years or duration ( r=-0.104, P=0.441;r=-0.156, P=0.246) .Conclusion Smoking may protect olfactory disorder in PD patients, and it has no correlation with smoking pack-years or duration.

砄bjective:To investigate the expression of integrin ? 1 during mandibular fracture healing.Methods:Rabbit mandibular fracture model was used,the fractured bone tissues were obtained and paraffin slices were made on the day 1,3,5,7,14,30,60 and 90 after surgery respectively.Non fractured mandible was used as the control.The expression of integrin ? 1 in bone tissue, especially in osteoblasts and osteoclasts, was studied with LsAB immunohistochemical method.Results:Integrin ? 1 was widely espressed in the bone tissure close to fracture and surrounding soft tissue.In osteoblasts increased expression of integrin ? 1 was observed on day 7,maximum on day 14～30 and normal on day 90.While in osteoclasts,it was increased and kept at maximum 14～90 days aftere fracture.Conclusion:During mandibular fracture healing,the expression of integrin ? 1 in bone,especially in osteoblasts and osteoclasts,was increased.Integrin ? 1 has a critical influence on bone fracture healing.

Purpose:This report evaluate whether the single-agent therapy with vinorelbine (V group) may obtain a high response rate, with acceptable toxicity and improvement in survival and quality of life, comparing with the therapy with Kanglaite (a traditional Chinese medicine) (K group) and other supportive care among elderly patients.Methods:Forty patients with advanced NSCLC were included,20 of whom were allocated to receive continual infusional NVB 7.5mg/m 2 /24hr delivered via a central venous line on days 1-5, and NVB 7.5mg /m 2 was given as a 20 min intravenous infusion on days 1 every 3 weeks; 20 of whom were allocated to receive infusional Kanglaite 200 ml on days 1-20 every month. Patients received a minimum of two courses unless progressive disease was detected. Results:V group: CR 0,PR 7,CR+PR 35%(7/20), median survival time was 7.2 months and projected 1-year survival was 25%; K group:CR 0,PR2,CR+PR 10%(2/20),median survival time was 4.8 months and projected 1-year survival was 5%. Conclusions:In elderly patients with NSCLC, single-agent vinorelbine treatment is associated with better effective,better survival and improved quality of life than Kanglaite .Its toxicity is mild and acceptable.
