Objective To investigate the anatomic characteristics of the nasolabial fold and to give an accurate description and definition of it in order to to provide theoretical basis for plastic, cosmetic and maxillofacial surgery. Methods Ten (20 sides) adult fresh bodies with vascular perfusion of formalin fixed after morphological observation under a 10 × magnifying len. Results Nasolabial fold was a border between fat-rich zone and non-fat zone in the midfacial region. The nasolabial fold derived from nasal alar skin point in the transverse portion of nasalis, and ended at the outer skin point of zygomaticus major muscle in the mouth. From the anatomy point of view, the nasolabial fold was divided into three segments: the upper, the middle and the under. The upper segment ( Ⅰ ) was the transverse portion of nasalis, (20. 38± 0. 74) mm in length; the middle section ( Ⅱ ): levator labii superioris,(17.13 ± 0.57) mm in length; the under segment (Ⅲ ): modiolus, (20. 81 ±0. 70) mm in length. The nasolabial fold was a connecting region where seven mimetic muscles inserted into the skin point. Superficial musculoapneurotic system (SMAS) and the nasolabial fold were composed of seven mimetic muscles belonging to the same layer. Conclusions The nasolabial fold is a region where the seven mimetic muscles insert into the skin point for connection, and regardless of age, it is an eternal existence. The nasolabial fold is different from the nasolabial wrinkle formed with facial aging and the nasolabial ridges formed by facial mimetic muscles changes.

Journal of Peking University(Health Sciences) 2020;52(4):684-687
OBJECTIVE:
To develop the visual uroflow scale (VUS), analyze the relationship of VUS score and index of free uroflowmetry, assess urination function preliminarily and improve the work efficiency in the clinic.
METHODS:
Male lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) patients, who attended the Department of Urology in Peking University People's Hospital from March 2016 to March 2017, were assessed for their urination function according to the Visual Uroflow Scale without help from clinicians before undertaking a free uroflowmetry test. And afterwards, a free uroflowmetry was undertaken, and variables including maximal flow rate (Qmax), the average flow rate (Qave) and voiding volume (VV) was obtained. During the study, 124 cases were collected and 53 cases met the inclusion and exclusion criteria and were included in the study cohort. The Spearman correlation analysis was used for analyzing the correlation of VUS scores with free uroflowmetry variables and age. The validity of VUS was evaluated.
RESULTS:
Most of the patients could choose the very figure matched with self-condition by first instinct without any help from the clinician. The data were analyzed by Spearman correlation analysis. In the present study, voiding time was positively correlated with the VUS score (correlation coefficient, 0.62, P < 0.05). In the present cohort, the patients chose the third and fourth figures to take longer time to urinate, implying worse LUTS situation. Flow time and VUS scores were positively correlated (correlation coefficient, 0.61, P < 0.05). The patients with higher VUS scores would spend more time on urinate, no matter how long urinary hesitation was. Both Qmax and Qave were negatively correlated with the VUS score (correlation coefficient -0.54, -0.62, P < 0.05). The study illustrated that the VUS score suggested that the Qmax basically and further reflected the urination function. And its relationship to age revealed the decreased urination function of aging male, which had reached a consensus.
CONCLUSION
Development of VUS has helped the clinician assess the urination function preliminarily at the first time. Patients are assessed for a VUS score before getting surgery or receiving the drug for treatment, and can be re-assessed after. The VUS score can provide an objective quantitative basis to evaluate the treatment efficacy. In addition, considering that it is convenient, timesaving and easy to understand, the VUS is available for follow-up.

Objective: To study the mutation of ENG, ACVRL1, and SMAD4 genes in one of a family of hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) and explore its molecular pathogenesis. Methods: A family spectrum of a patient with a clinical diagnosis of HHT was surveyed. Peripheral blood samples from proband and their eldest were collected, and ENG, ACVRL1 and SMAD4 gene analysis was performed by chip capture high-throughput sequencing. The mutation detected was verified by Sanger. Results: 9 of the 71 family members were diagnosed with HHT with the main manifestation of recurrent nasal bleeding. Genetic analysis showed that the proband and the eldest son of ENG gene exon 9 frameshift mutation: c.1502-1503insGG (p.Gly501GlyfsX18) , and mutations in ACVRL1 and SMAD4 genes were not detected. Conclusion: The frameshift mutation c.1502-1503insGG (p.Gly501GlyfsX18) of the ENG gene is the genetic basis for the pathogenesis of this HHT family.

The sialyl Lewis X (SLex) antigen encoded by the FUT7 gene is the ligand of endotheliam-selectin (E-selectin).The combination of SLex antigen and E-selectin represents an important way for malignant tumor metastasis. In the present study, the effect of the SLeX-binding DNA aptamer on the adhesion and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma HepG2 cells in vitro was investigated.Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and immunofluorescence staining were conducted to detect the expression of FUT7 at both transcriptional and translational levels. The SLex expression in HepG2 cells treated with different concentrations of SLeX-binding DNA aptamer was detected by flow cytometry.Besides, the adhesion, migration, and invasion of HepG2 cells were measured by cell adhesion assay, and the Transwell migration and invasion assay. The results showed that the FUT7 expression was up-regulated at both mRNA and protein levels in HepG2 cells.SLeX-binding DNA aptamer could significantly decrease the expression of SLex in HepG2 cells. The cell adhesion assay revealed that the SLeX-binding DNA aptamer could effectively inhibit the interactions between E-selectin and SLex in the HepG2 cells.Additionally,SLeX-binding DNA aptamers at 20 nmol/L were found to have the similar effect to the monoclonal antibody CSLEX-1.The Transwell migration and invasion assay revealed that the number of penetrating cells on the down-side of Transwell membrane was significantly less in cells treated with 5,10,20 nmol/L SLeX-binding DNA aptamer than those in the negative control group (P<0.01).Our study demonstrated that the SLeX-binding DNA aptamer could significantly inhibit the in vitro adhesion, migration, and invasion of HepG2 cells, suggesting that the SLeX-binding DNA aptamer may be used as a potential molecular targeted drug against metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma.

The Grainyhead-like 3 (GRHL3) is involved in epidermal barrier formation, neural tube closure and wound repair.Previous studies have suggested that GRHL3 has been linked to many different types of cancers. However,to date, its effects on human colorectal cancer (CRC) has not been clarified yet.Our microarray analysis has indicated predominant GRHL3 expression in CRC.The purpose of this study was to investigate the expression and significance of GRHL3 in CRC tumorigenesis using CRC tissues and paired paracancerous tissues,as well as using distinct CRC cell lines (HT29 and DLD1).We observed increased GRHL3 expression at both mRNA and protein levels in CRC tissues and CRC cell lines using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and Western blotting. Moreover, silencing GRHL3 with siRNA could suppress CRC cell proliferation, viability and migration in vitro. We also found that knockdown of GRHL3 could promote cell cycle arrest at G0/G1 phase in HT29 cells and DLD1 cells, and induce cell apoptosis in HT29 cells.Together, our study revealed the down-regulation of GRHL3 in vitro could inhibit CRC cell activity and trigger cell cycle arrest at G0/G1 phase and apoptosis.
