1.Effect of Pulse Magnetic Needle Apparatus on nerve growth factor expression in cerebral ischemia model of rats

ObjectiveTo study the effects of Pulse Magnetic Needle Apparatus on nerve growth factor(NGF) expression in cerebral ischemia model of rats.Methods70 Wistar rats were divided randomly into 7 groups as normal group,sham group,model group,magnetic group,acupuncture group,elecupuncture group and pulse magnetic group.Cerebral ischemia model was made by middle cerebral artery occlusion.The neural function of all the rats after operation was assessed by Nervous Scale of Function.The expression of NGF in each group was determined using immunohistochemical method.ResultsIn the Nervous Scale of Function between 6h and 15d after operation,there was no difference in model group(P>0.05),but there was difference in magnetic group(P<0.05) and in other therapeutic groups(P<0.01). The curative effect in pulse magnetic group was as the same as that in elecupuncture group and acupuncture group on the 15th day after operation.The expression of NGF increased in all therapeutic groups compared with the model group on the 15th day after operation(P<0.05 or 0.01).Furthermore, the expression of NGF increased in pulse magnetic group and acupuncture group rather than that in magnetic group and elecupuncture group(P<0.05).There was no distinct difference between acupuncture group and pulse magnetic group(P>0.05).ConclusionsThe Pulse Magnetic Needle Apparatus can promote and prolong the expression of NGF and recover the function of limbs.
2.A clinical study on the effect of polishing after ultrasonic scaling

To evaluate the effects of silicone points polishing on plaque index(PI) and sulcus bleeding index(SBI) after ultrasonic scaling. Forty patients with periodontal diseases were selected for ultrasonic scaling. After scaling,unilateral teeth were randomly assigned for silicone points polishing. PI and SBI were used to evaluate the effects of silicone points polishing. Silicone points polishing significantly reduced PI 12 weeks after scaling. Both in the polishing group and the control group, SBI decreased after scaling. The SBI in the polishing group was significantly lower than that in the control group in the 24 weeks. Silicone points polishing can effectively increase the smoothness of tooth and enhance the effects of uhrosonic scaling.
3.Clinic Efficacy of Calcium Hydroxide Iodoform Glycerin Paste for Root Canal Disinfection

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of Calcium Hydroxide Iodoform Glycerin(CHIG)paste for root canal disinfection.METHODS:145 patients(145 teeth)requiring root canal therapy were divided randomly into CHIG group,formo-cresol solution group(Group B)and camphor phenol group(Group C).After root canal preparation,the corresponding drugs were introduced into root canal and pulp chamber.The endodontic interappointment pain(EIP)and clinical efficacy in the 3 groups were compared.RESULTS:In Group A,the EIP incidence was the lowest(8.16%)while the effective rate was the highest(97.96%),showing significant differences as compared with Group B(31.91% and 68.09%,respectively)or Group C(34.69% and 71.43%,respectively)(P

Objective To explore the relationship between the intelligence condition and the content of ?-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in epileptic patients.Methods We measured the Intelligence Quotient (IQ) of 40 cases of epileptic patients by using the Wechsler Intellectual Scaled, and tested their CSF-GABA contents by using HPLC.At the same time, factors which might have influence on patient’s IQ were analysed.Results In the 40 cases of epileptic patients, there were 14 cases of patients with FIQ≤89, and occupied 35%.The intelligence condition of epileptic patients was positive relation with the contents of CSF-GABA, education background and patterns of seizure,but was negative relation with the patient's age. 7.Effect of proximal femoral nail anti-rotation versus femoral head replacement for treatment of intertrochanteric fractures in the elderly

Objective To examine the difference in the effectiveness between proximal femoral nail anti-rotation (PFNA) and femoral head replacement (FHR) of intertrochanteric fracture in elderly patients.Methods This study collected 69 patients that underwent PFNA or FHR after intertrochanteric fractures between June 2012 and September 2014.PFNA group was composed of 41 subjects (17 males and 24 females) aged 80-101 years (mean,86.7 years),and time from injury to operation was (3.12 ± 0.95)days.FHR group was composed of 28 subjects (13 males and 15 females) aged 80-99 years (mean,87.2 years),and time from injury to operation was (3.2 ± 1.0) days.Comparison of operation time,intraoperative blood loss,postoperative blood transfusion,off-bed time,complication incidence,hemoglobin concentration and hip function was made between groups.Results Duration of follow-up was 1-3 years (mean,1.8 years).Operation time and intraoperative blood loss in PFNA group were (46.8 ± 4.4) minutes and (77.0 ± 24.2) ml respectively,differed from (57.4 ± 5.9) minutes and (150.7 ± 46.5) ml in FHR group (P < 0.05).Three days after operation,a similar decrease in hemoglobin concentration was seen in PFNA group [(21.3 ±6.1)g/L] and FHR group [(23.2 ±5.8)g/L] (P > 0.05).Off-bed time in FHR group was (3.2 ± 1.2) days,shorter than (7.1-± 2.5) days in PFNA group (P < 0.05).Incidence of postoperative complications in FHR group was 14%,lower than 37% in PFNA group (P < 0.05).Hip function of the two groups presented no significant difference six months after operation,but the proportion of excellent results in FHR group was higher than that in PFNA group (82% vs.73%) (P > 0.05).Conclusion FHR provides better results over PFNA regarding off-bed time,complication incidence and hip function,and hence is preferred for the treatment of elderly patients with intertrochanteric fractures,especially in those with severe osteoporosis.
8.Studies on chemical constituents from the sea cucumber Holothuria impatiens

Objective To investigate the chemical constituents of the sea cucumber Holothuria impatiens collected from the South China Sea.Methods The pure compounds were isolated by extraction,partition and multi-chromatography.Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral analysis and chemical evidence.Results Three triterpene glycosides were isolated and identified as holothurin A1(Ⅰ),holothurin A(Ⅱ) and pervicoside C(Ⅲ),together with a physiological substance of adenosine(Ⅳ).Conclusion All were isolated from Holothuria impatiens for the first time.Three glycosides showed significant cytotoxic activities.
