1.Arch Form Pathologic Suprapatellar Plica: A Case Report.
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1998;33(3):714-717
The suprapatellar plica is a synovial membrane that lies between the suprapatellar pouch and the true knee joint, but pathologic suprapatellar plica has been reported not frequently. We experienced one case of arch type of pathologic suprapatellar plica which was excised by arthroscopic technique, and report it with review of literature.

2.Synovial Chondromatosis of the First Metatarsophalangeal Joint: A Case Report.
Journal of Korean Foot and Ankle Society 2007;11(1):107-110
Synovial chondromatosis is an uncommon non-neoplastic condition of the joints, forming multiple cartilaginous nodules in the synovium. The lesion usually tends to involve large joints, and the occurrence in the small joint of foot is very rare. We would like to report a case of synovial chondromatosis which was confused with Freiberg infarction in the 1st metatarsophalangeal joint of the foot.

Synovial chondromatosis is an uncommon disease of cartilage transformation of synovial membrane with formation of loose bodies within the joint space. The involvement of temporomandibular joint is very rare. Symtoms include swelling, pain, stiffness of the jaw, and inability to close the jaw. A case involving the temporomandibular joint(TMJ) and non-symptoms is presented.

A typical synovial osteochondromstosis within the both knee joints occured in a 29-year-old man. The patient complained of palpable masses in the both knee joints showed multiple round, oval, amorphous calcified loose bodies. Arthrotomy of the left knee joint, removal of loose bodies and total synovectomy were performed. The microscopic findings of loose body revesled a degenerated cartilage cap and showed ares of cacification, ossification and fibroadipose tissue in the central part of the body. The mocroscopic findings of synovium revesled a cartilagenous metaplasis of the fibro vascular tassue and showed no evidence of calcification or ossification. The cartilagenous tissue was relatively matured form.

synovial chondromatosis is most frequently found in the knee, they have been reported in temporomandibular joint. Synovial chondromatosis is a cartilaginous metaplasia of the mesenchymal remnants of the synovial tissue of the joint. It is characterized by the formation of cartilaginous nodules (loose bodies) in the synovium and within the articular space. Pain and swelling are the most common symptoms of the synovial chondromatosis and somtimes deviation of the mandible toward the unafected side during motion may occur. When these lesions becom symptomatic, they should be removed surgically.]]>

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease, with the characters of degradation of articular cartilage, the formation of the joint marginal osteophyte and synovium lesions. Previous studies have focused on the treatment of articular cartilage lesions. In recent years, new research in shows synovial inflammation plays an important role in OA. Synovium lesions and synovial inflammation-related factors induced the degradation and destruction of articular cartilage, and promoted the development of osteoarthritis. The role of synovial lesions in osteoarthritis is increasingly prominent, and the treatment for synovial lesions will become a new target. So this paper reviews the various manifestations of synovial in osteoarthritis.

Synovial chondromatosis is a benign nodular cartilaginous proliferation arising in the synovium of joints. The radiolographic features of this condition are variable. Rarely, it would be confused with malignancy such as chondrosarcoma, osteosarcoma or synovial sarcoma. We report a case of primary synovial chondromatosis of the posterior aspect of the proximal tibia mimicking a parosteal osteoarcoma on the radiography, which showed a homogeneously radiopaque juxtacortical mass. However, subsequent computed tomography (CT) showed multiple intra-articular masses containing chondroid mineralization, suggesting synovial chondromatosis.
