Intravenous glucose tolerance test(IVGTT)and oral glucose-insulin releasing test(OGIRT) in 12 subjects with normal glucose tolerance were performed. The results showed that the peak of insulin secretion Was at 40 minutes during()GIRT.The ratio of the change of insulin-to-glucose at 40 minutes(△I40/△G40)is an index in reflecting insulin sensitivity and β-cell function.

Objective To investigate short-term hemodynamic changes in selected patients with middle cerebral artery(MCA) stenting by transcranial Doppler sonography(TCD).Methods Stenting was given to 29 cases (31 MCAs) of patients with moderate and severe MCA stenosis if they had recurred symptoms during the standard antiplatelet therapy.TCD was applied to assess the hemodynamic changes in the stenosis segment and stenotic distal segment before stenting, 1 h and 3 d after stenting. Results Angiography showed that the rate of post-procedure residual stenoses of MCA were less than 20%.Compared with the pre-stentinng peak systolic velocity [PSV, (273±77)cm/s], the post-stenting PSV significantly decreased, which was (162±38) cm/s (P<0.01) at 1 hour and (168±45)cm/s ( P<0.01)at 3 days, respectively.Three cases (3 MCA) experienced recurrent stenosis-like spectra at stenosis segments 3 d after stenting and brain CT showed that 2 out of 3 cases suffered intracranial hemorrhage, which was potentially induced by hyperperfusion; PSV doubled in the stenotic distal segment in at least 28.6% patients. There was no statistic difference between pre- and post-stenting in the contralateral MCA (P>0.05).Conclusions Stenting can dramatically improve the hemodynamic compromise of stenosis segments and their distal segments in selected patients with symptomatic MCA stenosis, however, potential hyperperfusion risk might he taken into consideration after MCA stenting.

Objective To evaluate the changes of platelet-derived growth factor(PDGF) and vascular endo-thelial growth factor(VEGF) in infectious and autoimmunity diseaases. Methods The growth factors were measured by ELISA in 149 patients for seven times in different periods, and the levels and duration were compared. Results PDGF was (6.32±2.54) μg/ml and (2.57±1.65) μg/ml (P<0.05), and VEGF was (179.5±53.30) ng/ml and (221.4±70.04) ng/ml(P<0.05) in the two groups before treatment; There was statistical significance in dif-ferent time points between groups and within groups for PDGF(P<0.05) and significant difference for time chan-ging to the peak and changed duration between two groups for VEGF(P<0.05). For the two groups, the peak time of PDGF were (2.6±1.1) and (5.4±3.3) days; The peak time of VEGF were (2.4±0.7) and (7.2±3.3) days respectively(P<0.05 for each). However in the two groups, the change duration were (6.7±3.1) and (15.4±6.1) days for PDGF and (8.1±3.4) and (16.7±7.2) days for VEGF (P<0.05 for each). Conclu-sions There is significant difference for serum levels of PDGF and VEGF and the level change duration as well in the two groups, which maybe correlated with inflammatory nature and outcome.

Objective To study the effects of experiment-related factors on hematological parameters in SD rats, analyze the data difference and causes, understand the effects of anesthetics and stress responses on the physiological aspects of animals, and to provide a reference for the standardization of animal welfare and compound toxicity testing methods. Methods According to gender (A), fasting time (B), anesthesia (C) and blood collection mode (D), SPF SD rats were divided into 24 groups.Blood samples were collected from each group. Then, red blood cell count, hemoglobin levels, white blood cell count and classification indicators were measured. Results The primary and secondary order of the factors affecting the white blood cell count was D > C > A > B, and the levels of white blood cell count of each factor were male rats > female rats, and venous blood > arterial blood, chloral hydrate > pentobarbital sodium > no anesthesia. The primary and secondary order of the factors affecting the white blood cell classification was C > D=A=B, and factors affecting the levels of white blood cell classification were chloral hydrate > pentobarbital sodium > no anesthesia. The primary and secondary order of the effects of the factors on the red blood cell count and hemoglobin level was C > D=A=B, and the levels of red blood cell count and hemoglobin level were pentobarbital sodium > chloral hydrate> no anesthesia. There was no significant difference in the blood indexes between the different fasting time groups. Conclusions There is no effect of fasting on hematological parameters, but there are differences in the blood parameters between arteries and veins. The effect of chloral hydrate anesthesia on the count and classification of white blood cells is greater than that of pentobarbital sodium. The effect of chloral hydrate anesthesia on the red blood cell count and hemoglobin level is greater than that of pentobarbital sodium. The two kinds of anesthesia methods have their own advantages and disadvantages.
