We evaluated retrospectively the clinical characteristics of 16 consecutive exotropia patients over 10PD following surgery for esotropia, the patients were differentiated into nonoperative and operative group. The nonoperative group comprised of 11 patients with exodeviation 10PD through 20PD(mean 12.9PD) and the orthphoria through 15PD(mean 10.5PD) at final visit. The operative group of 5 patients with exodeviation of 10PD through 30PD(mean 21PD) at postoperatively 2 weeks and 20PD through 35PD(mean 24PD) before operation of consecutive exotropia. In the second operatio, 3 patients with adduction limitation were operated with advancement of medial rectus or recession of lateral rectus of same eye. Four patients showed orthotropia at postoperatively 2 weeks, and 2 patients revealed orthotropia at the final visit. The results suggest that the degree of deviation and adduction limitation will influence the choice of therapy and second operation method.

7.Reporting Results of Research Involving Human Subjects: An Ethical Obligation.

Journal of Korean Medical Science 2015;30(6):673-675
Researchers have an ethical responsibility to report the results of research involving human subjects. Dissemination of results ensures that patient care is based on good science and that the field of medicine advances based on complete and accurate knowledge. However, current evidence suggests that publication is often neglected or substantially delayed, especially in the case of negative and inconclusive results. Researchers, editors and reviewers should value all high-quality research regardless of the conclusiveness of the results and ensure that all research involving human subjects is registered in a publicly accessible database.

Journal of the Korean Geriatrics Society 2001;5(4):348-353
CHAP syndorme consists of choreoathetosis, orofacial dyskinesia, affective change, hypotonia, and pseudobulbar signs. CHAP syndrome was firstly des- cribed with onset 1 to 7 days after induced profound hypothermia and complete circulatory arrest for con- genital heart lesion repair. Since then, only a few cases have been reported until now. Case We report a patient who demonstrated all of the elements of the CHAP syndrome in severe cachexic state. Brain SPECT(99mTC-ECD) shows decreased perfusion in left fronto-parieto-temporal lobe. Comments The pathogenesis of CHAP syndrome is obscure. However our case led us to suggest that more essential component pre- disposing to the CHAP syndrome is hypoxia rather than hypothermia. Furthermore, it seems to be related with circulatory insufficiency in extrapyramidal nervous systems.

10.Pathologic Findings after Recession and Resection of Extraocular Muscles in Rabbits.
Sung Wook YANG ; Bong Leen CHANG
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1990;31(4):503-508
A study on the pathologic findings after recession and resection of extraocular muscles in rabbits was performed. Fibrosis of extraocular muscles increased with time, which showed no difference between recessed and resected muscles. Inflammation and foreign body reaction decreased with time, which showed no difference between recessed and resected muscles. Adhesions of extraocular muscles to the sclera were observed from 1 month after operation. The resected muscles showed milder adhesion to the sclera than recessed one. The operated extraoculr muscles showed atrophies at 1 month, which showed no difference between recessed and resected muscles. According to our results, when reoperation is needed, fibrosis of extraocular muscles after recession and resection should be considered in making decision of recession and resection amount of muscles.
