Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1995;33(1):131-138
PURPOSE: To evaluate the US findings of soft tissue hemangiomas in extremities and to correlate the echo-pattern with MR signal characteristics of hemangiomas. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively studied forty-two patients either with pathologically proven cases or with characteristic features of hemangiomas on MRI, US and plain film. Hemangiomas were divided into two types according to the locations;subcutaneous and intramuscular. Analytic points on US and MR findings were gross morphology of the mass, internal echo-pattern or signal characteristics. We correlated the echo-pattern with MR signal characteristics in hemangiomas. RESULTS: Subcutaneous hemangiomas revealed homogeneously anechoic mass on US, which were well correlated with MR signal characteristics' homogeneous low singnal intensity(SI) on Tl-weighted image(WI) and high SI on T2-WI. Intramuscular hemangiomas showed heterogeneously mixed echoic masses on US. An anechoic component on US corresponded to dilated vascular channels on MRI. The signal intensity of intramuscular hemangioma was less than that of subcutaneous fat on T1-WI and greater than that of fat on T2-WI. Both types of hemangiomas had tubular or lace-like appearance with interspersed fibrofatty septa. CONCLUSION: The echo-patterns in US were well associated with MR signal characteristics on MRI. Regarding US and MR features, intramuscular hemangiomas were different to subcutaneous hemangiomas.

3.A QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE STUDY ON OCCLUSAL CONDITIONS IN HEALTH VOLUNTEERS AND ATHLETES WITH NORMAL OCCLUSION.
The Journal of Korean Academy of Prosthodontics 1998;36(2):302-322
This study was accompolished to analyze and compare the number and area of the occlusal contact points in healthy volunteers and athletes with normal occlusion. For this study, 15 athletes(13 amles and 2 females with average age 20) and 21 healthy volunteers(14 mles and 7 females with average age 20.09) were selected. The visual display acquired by scanning of occlusal record in maximal intercuspation was converted into 16 gray value image. Then, using computer program (J &Lee Occlusal Analyser), the pixel which was in definite range of the gray value was recognized, and the numbers of recognized pixel were claculated to area. The results were as follows ; 1. The average numbers of total occlusal contact points were 31.05 in control group, and 34.67 in athlete group. The average area of total occlusal contacts was 100.25mm2in control group, and 127.78mm2in athlete group. 2. In control group, the average numbers of occlusal contact points were revealed in order as follows ; the first molar(8.48), the second molar(8.24), the second premolar(4.71), the lateral incisor(2.90), the first premor(2.43), the central incisor(2.19), and the canine(2.1). The least average in canine(2.1) was similar to the average(2.19) in central incisor and (2.09) in lateral incisor. In athlete group, the average numbers of occlusal contact points were revealed in order as follows ; the first molar(8.87), the second molar(8.47), the second premolar(5.60), the canine(3.80), the lateral incisor(3.33), the first premolar(2.67), and the central insicor(1.93). 3. In control group, the average areas of occlusal contact surface were revealed in order as follows ; the first molar(39.47mm2), the second molar(37.54mm2), the second premolar(9.54mm2) the first premolar(6.18mm2), canine(3.49mm2), the central incisor(3.7mm2), and the central incisor(2.25mm2). 4. With aging in both control and athlete group, there was a decreasing tendancy in average number of occlusal contact point, and was an increasing tendancy in average area of occlusal contact surface. In comparison at each age, both the numbers and area of occlusal contact were greater in athlete group than in control group. It was not significant in the numbers of occlusal contact points beween athlete and control group(p>0.1), but significant in the area of occlusal contact surface(p<0.05). 5. In comparision as to the kind of sports(Gymnastics : 2, Rugby : 3, Soccor : 5, Ice hocky : 5), the numbers of occlusal contact points were the most in ice hocky, and the area of occlusal contact surface was the greatest in gymnastics. With increasing a career in athlete group, there was a decreasing tendancy in average numbers of occiusal contact points and was an increasing tendancy in average area of occlusal contact surface. 6. By T-scan analyzing, the contact numbers on the anterior teeth were greater in control group than in athlete group, and on the posterior teeth were greater in athlete group than in control group. And the results acquired by T-scan were lesser than that caquired by the silicone bite records. It was not significant in the posterior teeth, but significant in the anterior teeth. In T-scan records, the numbers of occlusal contact points on second molar were the greatest, but in the silicone records, the numbers on first molar were the greatest.

Journal of Korean Society of Pediatric Endocrinology 2004;9(2):173-178
PURPOSE:Recent studies proposed that polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) of the omega6 series (linoleic acid, LA) compared to the omega 3 series (linolenic acid, LNA) may be a potent promoters of adipogenesis during the gestation/lactation period. Increased ratio of LA/LNA may stimulate adipose tissue development during gestation/lactation period and may subsequently lead to chilhood obesity. The purpose of this study is to evaluate fatty acids composition of the breast milk in Korean lactating women and to analyze the relationship between LA/LNA and the body weight gain of the infants. METHODS:Fifty eight healthy postpartum lactating women and their healthy 58 breast feeding infants were studied. At 11.3+/-3.9 days of postpartum, breast milk were taken and analyzed by gas-liquid chromatography with one-step methylation method. RESULTS:The total fat contents in breast milk were 3.2+/-1.3%. The total fat contents in breast milk were not related to maternal BMI or Kaup index of infants. The percentage of PUFA was 24.9+/-6.0%. Among these PUFA, the percentage of LA and LNA was 20.3+/-5.8% and 2.2+/-0.8%, respectively. LA/ LNA ratio was 10.2+/-2.5. There were no significant correlations between LA/LNA ratio and infant weight gain during the first 2 months of life. CONCLUSION: Short term weight gain of infant was not related to the LA/LNA ratio in the breast milk. Further studies on the long term effects on fat percent and body weight of infants would be needed.

Korean Journal of Anesthesiology 1998;34(6):1258-1262
Recently, continuous epidural catheter insertion is common practice not only in anesthesia but also in pain clinic. Meningitis is rare but serious complication of epidural analgesia. Acute bacterial meningitis occurred in a 82-year-old female patient with thoracic herpes zoster after continuous thoracic epidural analgeia. An MRI of thoracic region did not show an epidural abscess or granulation tissue. Gram stain and culture of the epidural catheter tip and the CSF yielded Staphylococcus aureus. Immediate treatment with antibiotics and supportive therapy was instituted and then the patient discharged without neurologic sequalae.

7.Care Burden for Mental Illness Patients, Attitude toward Mental Illness and Psychiatric Nursing Competency in Non-psychiatric Nurses.
Journal of Korean Academy of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing 2017;26(1):55-66
PURPOSE: The purposes of this study were to identify the level of care burden for patients with mental illness, attitudes toward mental illness and psychiatric nursing competency in non-psychiatric nurses and to identify correlations among these variables. METHODS: Data were collected from 153 non-psychiatric nurses who worked at a hospital located in Seoul, Korea. Care burden for mental illness patients, attitudes toward mental illness, and psychiatric nursing competency were measured using structured questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffé test and Pearson's correlation coefficients with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. RESULTS: Non-psychiatric nurses' care burden for mental illness patients showed negative correlations with attitude toward mental illness (r=-.50, p<.001) and intervention competency (r=-.31, p<.001). CONCLUSION: The findings of this study suggest that effective nursing care for patients with mental illness in non-psychiatric departments requires enhancing nurses' competency in psychiatric nursing and developing positive attitudes toward mental illness.

Korean Journal of Pathology 1997;31(7):655-661
Proliferations of the endometrial glands form a continuum from focal glandular crowding through simple hyperplasia, complex hyperplasia and atypical hyperplasia to frank adenocarcinoma. But objective criteria to distinguish these proliferative endometrial lesions are not clear-cut and terminology is confusing. The p53 protein is a nuclear phosphoprotein that can regulate cell proliferation and suppress tumor growth. Mutation in the p53 gene have been reported in a variety of human tumors, and in selected malignancies overexpression of p53 has been associated with poor prognosis. In this study we examined a series of endometrial proliferative lesion, including hyperplasia, adenocarcinoma, and adenomyosis to determine whether or not p53 is overexpressed in these lesions. In the result, p53 immunoreactivity was observed in 3 of 17 (17.6%) simple hyperplasia, one of 6 (16.6%) complex hyperplasia, none of 3 (O%) atypical hyperplasia, 6 of 13 (46.1%) adenocarcinoma and none of 10 (O%) adenomyosis. In conclusion, p53 mutation seems to play a role in oncogenesis of endometrial adenocarcinoma in early phase but there was no significant relationship between p53 overexpression and histologic grade of adenocarcinoma.

9.Health Behavior, Health Status and Self-Efficacy according to Sasangin in Clinical Nurse.
Journal of Korean Academy of Fundamental Nursing 2005;12(1):30-37
PURPOSE: This study was a descriptive research to investigate the health behavior, health status and self-efficacy according to the concepts of Sasangin. METHOD: Participants in this study were 214 nurses in hospitals in Seoul, Kyunggi and B city. Data were collected using interview with questionnaires from Oct.2 to Nov.30, 2003. The measurement tools were the QSCC II by Kim et al., Health Behavior by Kim, CMI by Nam and self-efficacy by Sherer, all of which have resported reliability. For the purpose of the study, the collected data were analyzed by Frequency, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficients. RESULTS: 1) There was a significant difference in health behavior according to constitution (F=1.273, p=.020) 2) There was a negative correlation between health behavior and health status for Taeumin (r=-.376, p=.002) There was also a negative correlation between health status and self-efficacy for Taeumin (r=-.271, p=.029). CONCLUSION: The results of this study showed that there were significant differences in health behavior, health status and self-efficacy for the participants according to the constitution of each nurse. So, based on these results, determining and fully understanding the client's constitution are important as these are the foundations of Eum-Yang and personal characteristics. Therefore, we have to consider the constitution when we provide nursing care. However, this study did not show a correlation between health behavior, health status and self efficacy for Soyangin and Soeumin. Further research is needed to determine if there is a relation between these variables according to various constitutions.

10.Impact of Menstrual Attitudes, Premenstrual Syndrome, and Stress Response on Quality of Life among Nursing Students.
Korean Journal of Women Health Nursing 2018;24(4):346-354
PURPOSE: To identify effects of menstrual attitude, premenstrual syndrome, and stress response on quality of life of nursing students. METHODS: Subjects were 135 nursing students who agreed to participate in this study. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. RESULTS: Premenstrual syndrome, younger than 20 years of age, and habit of eating bland food in everyday life were factors influencing quality of life of nursing students. These factors accounted for 17.6% of quality of life. Premenstrual syndrome toward quality of life was the most influential factor. CONCLUSION: Premenstrual syndrome is the most significant factor affecting the quality of life of nursing students. To increase their quality of life, it is important to develop and apply educational programs using factors influencing quality of life of the nursing students. Results of this study will be useful as basic data for improving quality of life of nursing students. Additional study is needed to test its effect in the future.
