1.Nevus Flammeus Associated with Angiokeratoma of Fordyce and Lymphangioma Circumscriptum.

We present a case of nevus flammeus associated with angiokeratoma of Fordyce and lymphangioma circumscriptum in a 26 year-old Korean man. We have known that the congenital hemangiomas may be associated with many syndromes such as Kasabacb-Merritt syndrome, Sturge-Weber syndrome and etc. Recently the congenital hemangiomas associated with angiokeratoma or lymphangioma were reported in several literatures, Watson and McCarthy reported that it seemed to be established that three types of benign vascular tumors had a common origin and grew in an identical fashion by projecting buds of endothelial tissue. So the congenital hemangiomas may have a close association with angiokeratoma or lymphangioma.

6.Changes of Memory in Adult by Aging.

Though congitive functions of a man decline in normal aging and memory decline is the most common complaint of an elderly, the status of quantitive and qualitative estimates of these are rare in Korea. To assess the qualitative and quantitive aspect of changes of memory in aging, neuropsychological tests about memory functions were performed and the results were.analyzed in healthy adult volunteers of 20 to 9 year-old, having no evidence-of organic brain dysfunction. The scores of each tests.are lower than that of English-speaking countries, but memory functions declined significantly in normal aging and the qualitative aspect of these are characteristics. Contrary to the western reports. The visuospatial memory declined significantly before the age of 50 and the verbal memory after 50 in aging. So we should take care in screening and diagnosis of dementia and amnesia using these neuropsychological test in Korea.

10.The Effect on Serum Electrolytes of Hyperventilation , Steroid and Diuretics in Brain Surgery.

This study was performed to investigate the ranges of electrolyte changes during conventional neurosurgical anesthetic management. We selected 20 patients who were operated for brain tumor, intracranial aneurysm and arteriovenous malformation randomly. All patients were received solumedrol preoperatively and managed with hyperventilation (PaCO2: 25-30 torr), solumedrol (1.0 gm), mannitol, furosemide during operation. At 30 and 60 minutes after mannitol infusion, serum electrolytes (Ka+, K+) were checked. The results were as follows: 1) Serum K+ concentration was decreased from 3.96+/-0.46 mEq/L to 3.63+/-0.40 mEq/L in 30 minutes after diuretic administration (p<0.01). 2) At 60 minutes after diuretic administration, serum K+ concentration was decreased from 3.96+/-0.46mEq/L to 3.75+/-0.37mEq/L (p<0.05) and slightly higher than 30 minutes without statistical significance. 3) Serum Na+ concentration was not significantly changed at 30 and 60 minutes after diuretic administration. In conclusion, frequent evaluation of intraoperative serm electrolytes level should be stressed to prevent distortion of it due to hyperventilation and diuretics in neurosurgical anesthetic management.
