Medial approach open reduction (MAOR) for congenital dislocation of the hip, as is well known, is the most anatomically direct approach to the major obstacle to reduction. For the study on this method of open reduction, the authors reviewed 15 children who underwent MAOR and followed up to at least 1 year after operation with an average of 3 years and 2 months. The results were as follows: 1. The age distributions of the 15 children were; 1 child in below 12 months of age, 10 in 13 to 18 months, and 4 in 19 to 24 months. 2. The acetabular index was high before operation with an average of 32.7° (25-43). This improved makedly in the follow-up period to an average of 20.6° (13-29) . 3. The average of acetabulum-head index was 70.6° and the average of CE angle was 19.7° in the follow-up. 4. The complications were 2 cases of avascular necrosis and 1 case of redislocation. No contracture of joint was observed. 5. For the residual dysplasia of acetabulum, innominate osteotomy of Salter was performed in 2 children and was scheduled in the other 5 children. 6. It can be stated that MAOR is a very safe, simple and effective method of open reduction.

Developmental surface ultrastructure of Macroorchis spinulosus was studied by scanning electron microscopy. One-day-old juvenile fluke was leaf-shaped and bent ventrally. Body surface was covered densely with peg-like spines and with cobblestone-like cytoplasmic processes. Ciliated sensory papillae were concentrated around oral sucker. Several unciliated sensory papillae occurred equidistantly on oral sucker and acetabulum. The ciliated papillae appeared in two longitudinal lines symmetric bilaterally on dorsal surface. On adult flukes, tegumantal spines became wider in middle of the body surface. The cytoplasmic processes differentiated into more fine velvety form. It is likely that the differentiated fine cytoplasmic processes are an increased absorptive surface to adult M. spinulosus. It is suggested that single pointed tegumental spines on anterior half of the body may be supportive for this fluke to migration.

Korean Journal of Pathology 1998;32(9):697-699
Well-differentiated papillary mesothelioma (WDPM) of the peritoneum is considered to be a distinct subtype of peritoneal mesothelioma and has mostly behaved in a benign fashion. We report a case of WDPM in a 48-year-old-woman. It was incidentally found during a hysterectomy for a uterine cervical carcinoma. Grossly, the tumor was composed of multiple peritoneal nodules, measuring up to 2 cm. Microscopically, the nodules showed well-developed papillae lined by a single layer of cuboidal mesothelial cells. Immunohistochemical staining revealed a positive reaction for cytokeratin and a negative reacion for carcinoembryonic antigen and Leu-M1. Ultrastructurally, the tumor cells showed numerous long, slender microvilli and desmosomes.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1978;16(2):173-177
We present a case of nevus flammeus associated with angiokeratoma of Fordyce and lymphangioma circumscriptum in a 26 year-old Korean man. We have known that the congenital hemangiomas may be associated with many syndromes such as Kasabacb-Merritt syndrome, Sturge-Weber syndrome and etc. Recently the congenital hemangiomas associated with angiokeratoma or lymphangioma were reported in several literatures, Watson and McCarthy reported that it seemed to be established that three types of benign vascular tumors had a common origin and grew in an identical fashion by projecting buds of endothelial tissue. So the congenital hemangiomas may have a close association with angiokeratoma or lymphangioma.

Lipid cell tumors of the ovary are among the rarest of the functional ovarian neoplasms. Recently, authors experienced a case of lipid cell tumor of the left ovary in a 19 year old female, who presented with amenorrhea and hirsutism for 4 years. Grossly, the ovary was well encapsulated, and measured 6.5x6x4.5 cm. Cut surface show homogenous yellowish bulging neoplastic tissue and peritheral displaced normal ovarian tissue. Microscopically, neoplastic cells were composed of rounded and polyhedral cells, arranged in nests seperated by rich vascular networks. On the basis of the author's findings and the evidence available in the literature, we determined this case as ovarian lipid cell tumor.

A 55 year old male complain right shoulder pain and right upper quadrant pain about three months. He was a heavy alcoholism. Highly selective angiography, CT scan and operation findings suggest primary malignant neoplasm of the liver. Right hepatic lobectomy and partial diaphragmectomy was done under impression of heaptocellular carcinoma. The specimen measured 15x11x9 cm and disclose relatively hard and nodular mass devoid of cirrhotic changes. Cut surface show unilobar large mass measuring 11x8x6 cm and bearing brightly yellow discoloration and multifocal hemorrhagic necrosis. Histological characteristics were diffuse proliferation of large neoplastic cells with ample cytoplasm, containing granular materials, erythrophagocytosis, neutrophagocytosis and hemosiderin pigments. Atypical and bizarre mitosis and multinucleated giant cells bearing abundant erythro and neutrophagocytosis were frequently seen. The large or vesicular nuclei were irregular, with occasional deep indentations and revealed sharply defined nuclear membrane, coarse chromatin and conspicious nucleoli. Ultrastructurally the cytoplasm of neoplasltic cells had lysosomal granule, phagolysosome, phagocytized material and residual bodies. Immunohistochemical stains for alpha 1-antitrypsin, alpha 1-antichymotrypsin, vimentin and lysozyme showed positive reactions, but, alpha fetoprotein, cytokeratin, S-100 protein, factor VIII, complement 3 receptor and carcinoembryonic antigen were negative. Alpha-naphtyl acetate esterase activity in paraffin embedded tissue ribbon showed negative reaction. These findings show compatible with primary malignant lymphoma, true histiocytic type, (histiocytic sarcoma, Kupffer cell carcinoma) of the liver.
