Korean Journal of Dermatology 1986;24(5):671-673
Fiddler's neck was first described by Peachey and Matthews in 1978 to denote a condition characterized by focal lichenification and pigmentation on the left side of violinist and violist neck just below the angle of the jaw. The etiologic facters are friction, local pressure, occlusion, poor hygiene and sweating. In only a few cases has a specific hypersensitivity to one or more of the ch!n rest material(wood, lacquer, dye) or the metallic fixing been found responsible. We report a case of 15-year-old female patient with Fiddler's neck who has played the violin for 8 years.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1989;24(2):462-468
The flexor tendon injuries of the finger are very difficult to treat satisfactorily. Early treatment is desirable, but not always posaible. In addition, joint stiffness and limitation in gliding of the tendon caused by adhesion, make the problem more complex. From 1978 until 1988, 13 patients (14 eases) underwent operations for free tendon graft, and 10 patients (13 eases) for staged tendon graft at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, National Medieal Center. They have been followed up for clinical study, and the result was summarized as follows:1. Old flexor tendon injuries were common in the teen and twenties, especially in male. 2. They occurred in the index (10 Cases, 37.0%) and middle (8 cases, 29.6%) fingers most commony, especially zone II (62.9%). 3. The result was evalusted according to the method designed by Strickland and Glovac. In 19 out of 27 cases, satisfactory result (excellent and good) was yielded. 4. In cause, deep laceration by sharp object was better in the result than crushing injury. 5. The interval between the injury and the operation ranged from 1 month through 11 years, averaging 16 months, and is supposed to have little relation to the result. 6. The preoperative state is supposed to have much relation to postoperative result, judging from 100% of satisfactory result in Grade I compared with 40% in Grade V according to Boyes preoperative classification. 7. Little difference is seen in the result between free tendon graft and staged tendon graft. And 5 cases complicated by adhesion, rupture of grafted tendon and wound infection yielded poor result.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1997;38(10):1860-1863
Exophthalmos after trauma may develop because of retrobulbar hemorrhage, carotid cavernous fistula and orbital roof fracture. The orbital roof is composed of two layers of strong bone that makes it the strongest among the orbital walls and reports of its case are hardly found. However, rarely strong impact such as in automobile accidents causes these fractures and exophthalmos may develop due to herniation of brain tissue through a traumatic defect in the roof of the orbit. The authors experienced gradually increasing exophthalmos in a 33-year old man who had developed a subdural hematoma, orbital roof fracture and anterior temporal skull fracture due to an automobile accident. We report a case of orbital roof fracture in which herniation of brain was shown in orbital computed tomography and exophthalmos disappeared after dural suture.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1996;37(2):356-359
Congenital obstruction of the lacrimal system is common at the valve of Hasner. When a concomitant obstruction exists at the opening of the canaliculi in the tear sac, fluid accumulates and causes a distension of the lacrimal sac at birth. This condition is variously called congenital lacrimal amniotocele, mucocele or dacryocele. We have experienced a case of congenital lacrimal amniotocele that showed epiphora and tense blue-gray swelling over the right lacrimal sac since birth in a 24 day old boy. He has been treated with probing and topical antibiotic and has remained asymptomatic for six months.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1998;39(8):1741-1747
In leprosy patients, the cataract surgery may be combined with additinal manipulation for presenting miosis such as iris surgery. The authors have studies retrospectively the incidence, surgical results, and postperative complications of extracapsular cataract extraction and posterior chamber IOL implantation combined with iris surgery of 50 eyes with a follow-up period of more than 3 months. Pupil dilatation procedure was necessary for miotic pupils in 31 eyes and in 8 cases pupilloplasty also was performed. The average visual acuity was 0.1 preoperatively and 0.6 postoperatively. The common postoperative complications included after-cataract in 28 eyes(56%) and iris capture and/or synechia in 9(18%) eyes. After-cataract developed more frequently in eyes with a history of uveitis(92.6%) or those that received iris surgery(71%). Iris capture developed in those who received cataract surgery with pupil dilatation procedure and did not develop in those with additional pupilloplasty. Also pupilloplasty patients complained of less photophobia. In conclusion, pupil dilatation procedures may be required in cataract surgery of leprosy patients and is related with the development of aftercataract, but to prevent iris capture and photophobia additional pupiolloplasty is recommended.

Journal of the Korean Knee Society 1999;11(1):8-12
PURPOSE: This study was to measure the angle between the femoral epicondylar axis and the femoral posterior condylar axis, to clarify which axis can be used as a guideline to achieve proper rotational align- ment of femoral component in total knee arthroplasty. MATERIAL AND METHODS: From Jan. 1997 to Dec. 1998, the axial images of MRI of 121 patients who sustained acute knee injury were selected to measure the posterior-epicondylar angle(the angle between the femoral epicondylar axis and the femoral posterior condylar axis). Congenital anomaly or any fracture cases were all excluded. Comparisons were made according to gender and ages and the student t-test was used to evaluate the statistical differences. RESULTS: The mean posterior-epicondylar angle was a 4.8(+- 2.0) and there was no significant statisti- cal difference between gender and ages except 3rd decade. CONCLUSION: It can induce an insufficient external rotation of the femoral component in total knee arthroplasty, if we usually do 3 of external rotation of femoral component from the posterior condylar axis.

9.Patch Test in the Suspected Cosmetic Contact Dermatitis.
Duck Hyun KIM ; Hyung Il KIM ; Hee Young PARK ; Sung Nack LEE
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1987;25(2):161-168
Of the 166 cases of suspected cosmetic contact dermatitis, 92 showed positive reactions to one or more of the allergens of the commercial test kits or patients, own coametics by patch test. Tincture of benzoin, ammoniated mercury, cinnamic alcohol and benzyl salicylate were the most commonly identified agents. By product category, skin care produts dominated as the cause of the cosmetic conact dermatitis. However, it was suspected that the most common sensitizer may be present in the eye-make up preparations. The positive rate of foreign cosmetics was more than 2 fold higher than the domestic ones.
