A 5-month-old male infantshowed greasy sealy papules on the scalp, dirty scaly papules on the trunk and scaly petechial papules on both the palms and soles since birth. When admitted to the hospital, the patient exhibited lymphadenopathy, hepatomegaly, abdominal distension, mild fever and skin eruption. The biopsy specimens from the skin and lymph node showed an infiltrate composed almost entirely of histiocytic cells with irregularly shaped nuclei and abundant, well demarcated cytoplasm. The histiocytic cells of the infiltrate were proved as Langerhans cells by electron microscopic examination and S-100 protein study. He was treated with methotrexate 30mg/m twice a week and prednisolone 40mg/m daily. Initially skin lesions and general condition were improved, but the patient expired. due to septicemia after 3 months.

Herpes zoster oticus (Ramsay Hunt syndrome) is characterized by facial nerve paralysis associated with vesticular eruptions and cochleovestibular symptoms. Many evidences have supported that it is caused by the reactivation of latent varicella-zoster virus in the geniculate ganglion. Recently we experienced a case 49-year-old man presented severe vertigo and a vesicular eruptions of auricle and external ear canal. It is an unusual variant of herpes zoster oticus that involves only vestibular nerve without facial nerve palsy and hearing loss. We believe this case results from reactivation of latent varicella zoster virus in the vestibular ganglion and report with a review of literatures.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1999;37(3):371-375
Although a number of remedies like corticosteroids, retinoids, griseofulvin, PUVA, cyclosporine, antibiotics, dapsone, cyclophosphamide, surgery, methotrexate, radiation therapy, antimalarial drugs, psychotharapy and psychiatric medications have been used to treat lichen planus, there were no specific methods until now. We report herein an interesting case of lichen planus in which complete healing was achieved by griseofulvin administration. The patient was a 54-year-old male who for 3 months had variouly sized and shaped, flat-topped, scaly, violaceous papules and plaques on the whole of his body. We confirmed the patients disease as lichen planus by a histopathologic examination of a skin biopsy specimen and gave him 500mg ultramicronized griseofulvin daily in divided dosages. After 12 weeks of the medication nearly all of the skin lesions were regressed, and by 14 weeks all skin lesions had disappeared leaving hyperpigmentation. Up to now, l9 months after discontinuation of the medication, no recurrence of the disease has been noted.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1987;25(5):722-726
Cutis verticis gyrata is a morphologic term, typically occurring on the scalp, characterized by eleuated, folded convolutions of the scalp, which may be either secondary to local disease in the scalp, or primary(idiopathic) disease. This case report was a 33-year-old woman, teacher. A birth, the patient had a small, round, soft, convoluted mass on the right parietal scalp. The mass slowly enlarged in size with the same rate of body growth. Now, the lesion is 15*13cm in size, well demarcated, oval shaped, soft, convoluted mass with overlying normal skin colored or hyperpigmented macules. Light microscopic findings of the skin kesion showed deeper extension of the nevus cells into the dermis and subcutis, which presented as an intradermal nevus, Electron microscopy showed that the nevus cell had an indented nucleus and numerous mitochondrias and melanosomes in the cytoplasm.

8.Effects of smart-care services program for breast cancer survivors
Bok Yae CHUNG ; Sung Jung HONG
Journal of Korean Academic Society of Nursing Education 2021;27(2):95-106
Purpose:
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a smart-care services program for breast cancer survivors on cognitive function and physical health.
Methods:
A quasi-experimental control group pretest posttest design was used. Subjects were recruited in D city, and data were collected from July 2017 to February 2018. The experimental group (n=24) participated in the smart-care services program, whereas the control group (n=26) received conventional management. The smart-care services program consisted of addressing cognitive function problems arising from chemotherapy, diet, exercise, headeck massage and self-monitoring using smartphone applications and smart bands. All participants underwent assessments at baseline, at 6 weeks, and at 12 weeks. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation), a chi-squared test, t-test, and repeated measures ANOVA.
Results:
After the smart-care services program, significant differences were found between the groups in cognitive function (F=18.91, p<.001) and sleep time (F=9.25, p<.001). No significant differences were found between the groups in caloric consumption after the program.
Conclusion
The smart-care services program significantly improved the level of cognitive function and sleep time for breast cancer survivors. The use of this smart-care services program for breast cancer survivors might be an effective nursing intervention tool for improving cognitive function and health behaviors.
