Objective To investigate the effects of desflurane and/or nitric oxide (NO) on the lung injury induced by ischemia-reperfusion ( I/R) during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) in children with pulmonary hypertension secondary to congenital heart disease (CHD) .Methods Forty children with CHD and pulmonary hypertension (24 male, 16 female) aged 0.6-3.7 yrs weighing 7.1-11.9 kg undergoing cardiac surgery under CPB were randomly divided into 4 groups ( n = 10 each): group control; group DES; group NO and group DES + NO. The patients were premedicated with oral midazolam 0.5 mg?kg-1. Anesthesia was induced and maintained with fentanyl and vecuronium. Radial artery was cannulated for MAP monitoring and blood sampling. Pulmonary catheter was placed under direct vision after chest was opened. The patients received inhalation of desflurane (1-1.3 MAC) (group DES)/NO (10-20 ppm) (group NO) /DES + NO (group DES + NO) immediately after pulmonary catheterization until the start of CPB. MAP, PAP, peak airway pressure (Ppeak) and compliance of respiratory system (Crs) were recorded at 5 min after induction (T0 ), 5 min before CPB (T1 ), 5 min after start of CPB (T2) and at the end of surgery (T3) . Blood samples were taken at T0 and T3 for determination of methemoglobin (Met-Hb), soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1), XOD and MDA.Results The four groups were comparable with respect to age, M/F ratio, body weight, duration of CPB and type of operation performed. MAP was significantly decreased after inhalation of desflurane alone or desflurane + NO before CPB ( at T1) as compared to the baseline value at T0; while PAP was significantly decreased after inhalation of NO alone or NO+ desflurane before CPB (at T1) as compared to the baseline value. Ppeak was significantly lower while Crs was significantly higher at end of surgery (T3) in group NO and NO + desflurane than in control group. Blood sICAM-1 and MDA concentrations and XOD activity were significantly lower at the end of surgery (T3 ) in group DES, NO and DES + NO than in control group. Met-Hb was significantly increased at the end of surgery (T2) as compared to the baseline (T0) in group NO and DES + NO but was still within normal range. Conclusion Inhalation of desflurane and/or NO can ameliorate the lung injury during CPB in children with pulmonary hypertension secondary to CHD, in addition to inhibit the pulmonary hypertension.

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the economic effectiveness of three angiotension-converting enzyme inhibitor(ACEI) in treating patients with essential hypertension.METHODS:186 patients with essential hypertension were randomly divided into three groups receiving enalapril,fosinopril and perindopril respectively.The results were evaluated with pharmacoeconomic analysis.RESULTS:In treatment of hypertension,enalapril was minimal in cost.CONCLUSION:Therapeutic effect will be improved and cost decreased when pharmacoeconomic cost-effectiveness analysis is used.

Objective To investigate molecular changes in growing rats masticatory muscle after functional mandibular protrusion.Methods SD rats were randomly divided into eight groups as control 3d,7d,14d,21d and experimental 3d,7d,14d,21d.The RTPCR and qPCR methods were used to find expression and any differences of mRNA of MMPs in growing rats masticatory muscle after functional mandibular protrusion. (Results)(① Expression) of MMP-2,MMP-9 mRNA expressed in all growing rats masticatory muscle.② Expression differences of MMP-2 and MMP-9 mRNA in 3d,21d were found between control and experimental groups after functional mandibular protrusion.Conclusion ①MMP-2 and MMP-9 mRNA participate in masticatory muscle normal development.(② MMPs) mRNA involve changes in growing rats masticatory muscle after functional mandibular protrusion.

A total of 13 allozymes of 7 populations of Oncomelania snails trom 7 provinces in the mainland China were examined by horizontal starch gel electrophoresis. Results demonstrated that out of 17 loci examined, 10 were monomorphic loci: Aldh,Ao,G6pd ,Gpdh,Hbdh,Ldh, Sdh,Est-2,Est-3,and Est-6,and 7 were polymorphic loci:Est-4,Est-5,Xdh,Mdh,Idh,Got and Ap. Banding pattern showed that six enzymes were polymorphic accounting for 46.15 % (6/13) of total enzyme systems examined. Results indicated that a certain of relative relation-ship was existed along with the significant variation presented based on their environment and location among the 7 populations of snails from the mainland of China. It was revealed that the 7 polymorphic loci were the important loci affecting the gentic variation in the differ-ent populations of Oncomelania spp.

[Objective] To evaluate the therapeutic effect of Oleum Curcumae Aromaticae (OCA) on leukemia cell strain HL-60 and K562 by observing its sensitivity in inhibiting HL-60 and K562. [Methods] Subculture of HL-60 and K562 cells was performed on the 96-hole culture plate and OCA 100?L at the final concentration of 400, 200, 100 and 50mg/L respectively was added. The blank control was added with RPMI-1640 culture fluid. After 24, 48 and 72 hours of treatment, MTF 10?L (5mg/mL) was added and the inhibitory rate on the cells was assayed by detecting the absorption value at 570nm wavelength. AIM: To investigate the effect of ginsenoside-Rg3 on the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in retina with diabetic rats and its roles in preventing neovascularization in diabetes. METHODS: Sixty male Wistar rats were divided into 3 groups randomly: negative control group, diabetic control group and ginsenoside-Rg3 treatment group (5mg/kg, 0.2mg/mL) followed by establishing diabetic model. The expression of VEGF and TNF-α were measured after 8 weeks. RESULTS: There were significant differences among negative control group, diabetic control group and ginsenoside-Rg3 treatment group in the expression of VEGF and TNF-α (F=129.363, 211.992; all the P<0.01). VEGF and TNF-α expression were significantly higher in diabetic control group and ginsenoside-Rg3 treatment group than that in negative control group (P<0.01), with a significant reduction in ginsenoside-Rg3 treatment group than that in diabetic control group (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: Ginsenoside-Rg3 can down-regulate the expression of VEGF and TNF-α in retina, which may interfere in the development of diabetic retinopathy.

Objective: To investigate the effect of recombinant human growth hormone(rhGH) in the treatment of liver cirrhosis with hypoproteinemia. Methods: 28 patients with liver cirrhosis,whose albumin level was below 35 g/L,were randomly divided into two groups:rhGH treatment group and control group.Serum albumin,ALT and other items were measured 30,60 and 90 days after the start of treatment. Results: After 30 days,an increase in plasma albumin was observed in the two groups,but the change in the treatment group was more obvious than that in control group,An increase in plasma protein in treatment group and the decrease in control group were observed with significant difference between groups. Conclusion: Recombinant human growth hormone can increase the level of ambumin in liver cirrhosis patients and improve the function of liver.

Objective By comparing the change of expression of AQP1 in vitro lung preserved by the continuous infusion of a heart‐lung machine ,continuous pressure perfusion and single low temperature ,to explore the best method of vitro lung preserva‐tion .Methods Thirty Mongrel dogs were randomly divided into 3 groups ,and both lungs were completely resected under the condi‐tion of keeping mechanical ventilation .The vitro lungs were preserved by the way of the continuous infusion of a heart‐lung ma‐chine ,continuous pressure perfusion and single low temperature ,and collecting specimens according to the time point .HE staining was used to observe the morphological changes of vitro lung tissue .Immunohistochemistry and Western blot were used to detect the expression of AQP1 in vitro lung .Results HE staining found that as the time went by alveolar structure gradually collapsed ,in‐flammatory cells increased ,alveolar interval also gradually broadened and exudation could be seen in the alveolar cavity ;at the same time point ,organization structure of extracorporeal circulation group changed lighter than pressure perfusion group and low‐temper‐ature preservation group .In each experimental group ,the expression of AQP1 showed a trend of decline;at each time point ,the ex‐pression of AQP1 in extracorporeal circulation group was higher than pressure perfusion group ,and pressure infusion group was higher than that of low‐temperature preservation group .Conclusion The protective effect of the continuous infusion of a heart‐lung machine on vitro lung was better than continuous pressure perfusion and single low temperature .

A total of 160 elderly patients with Ⅰ -Ⅲ essential hypertension were enrolled in the study and examined with high-frequency color Doppler ultrasonography (America ATL Company HDI3500 type color ultrasonoscope). Common carotid artery (CCA), internal carotid artery and external carotid artery (ECA) were detected, including carotid artery intima-media thickness (CAIMT) and hemodynamic index.
