Objecfive To investigate the expression of erbB4 and PTEN in cutaneous squarnous cell carcinoma(SCC)tissue and their significance.Methods Immunohistochemical Elivision method was used to measure the protein expression of erbB4 and PTEN in tissue specimens from 52 patients with SCC (11 cases with and 41 cases without lymph node metastasis)and 10 normal human controls.Results The positivity rate of erbB4 was significantly higher in the patients with SCC than in the normal human controls (75%vs.10%,x2=12.77,P<0.01),and in the patients with lymph node metastasis than in those without (100%vs.68.29%,P<0.05).Significant differences were also observed in the expression rate of PTEN between the patients with SCC and the normal controls (48.08%vs.100%,x2=9.20,P<0.01),between the patients with well-differentiated SCC and those with poody differentiated SCC(78.57%vs.36.84%,P<0.05),and between the patients with lymph node metastasis and those without (9.09%vs.58.54%,P<0.01).The expression of erbB4 was negatively correlated with that of PTEN (r=-0.42.P<0.01).Conclusion The disturbalice in mutual regulation between erbB4 and FIEN seems to be involved in the initiation.progression and metastasis of SCC.

Objective To study the forensic application of G oldeneyeTM D N A ID 26Y K it in the She na-tionality. Methods Through capillary electrophoresis, the genotype of 26 Y-STR loci were analyzed in 53 unrelated m ale individuals from Fujian She nationality. The population genetics param eters such as allele frequency and haplotype diversity were calculated. The com parisons am ong the She nationality and the other nationalities were analyzed. Results A total of 126 alleles were observed on the 26 Y-STR loci of 53 unrelated m ale individuals. The allele frequencies and G D value ranged from 0.010 1 to 0.886 8 and 0.211 2 to 0.846 2, respectively. The G D value w as greater than 0.5 in the 19 loci. A total of 47 hap-lotypes were observed. B ased on RST, m ultidim ensional scaling plot indicated that the genetic relationship am ong Fujian She nationality and M innan H an nationality w as closest, follow ed by Southern C hina H an nationality and N orthern C hina nationality. Objective To investigate the value of prognosis of NT-proBNP in severe sepsis and septic shock patients .Methods 70 patients with sepsis admitted to our hospital were divided into general sepsis group (n=23) ,severe sepsis group(n=28) and sep-tic shock group(n=19) according to the severity of the disease ,the plasma NT-proBNP ,lactic acid ,C-reactive protein were meas-ured within 1 h after admission ,and calculated the 24 h acute physiology and chronic health evaluation Ⅱ (APACHE Ⅱ) .Results (1) Plasma NT-proBNP concentration ,lactic acid ,CRP and APACHE Ⅱ score in severe sepsis group ,septic shock group was sig-nificantly higher than that of general sepsis group(P< 0 .05);Plasma NT-proBNP concentration ,CRP and APACHE Ⅱ score in septic shock group was significantly higher than severe sepsis group (P<0 .05) .(2)70 cases of patients with sepsis with 15 cases died and 55 cases survived .Plasma NT-proBNP concentration ,lactate ,CRP and APACHEⅡscore of death patients was significantly higher than the survival patients(P<0 .01) .(3) Plasma NT-proBNP concentration at the time of sepsis patients admitted to hospi-tal with positively correlated to APACHE Ⅱscores(r=0 .528 ,P<0 .01) .Conclusion The plasma NT-proBNP is closely related to the prognosis of patients with sepsis ,early detection of plasma concentration of NT-proBNP helps to evaluate the prognosis of pa-tients w ith sepsis .

BACKGROUND:At present, there are many methods to treat cartilage defects, but none radical y repairs the articular cartilage defects.
OBJECTIVE:To histological y verify the effect of naringin combined with tissue engineering cartilage on the repair of rabbit articular cartilage defects.
METHODS:Rabbit bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells fol owing in vitro proliferation were compounded onto acellular dermal matrix, which was then implanted into rabbit knee cartilage defects. Naringin was also given by lavage. Hematoxylin-eosin staining, Masson trichrome staining, toluidine blue dyeing, type II col agen staining and type X col agen staining were performed in the repaired tissue.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:After 8 weeks post-surgery, the defects repaired with the naringin and stem cells composite were turned into milky-white and transparent smooth tissue. The defective tissue which was repaired, was very similar to normal cartilage tissue, with smooth surface. After the histology research, we found that the defect tissue was fil ed with new cartilage tissue. Results indicated that naringin combined with tissue engineering cartilage can promote the repair of articular cartilage defects in rabbits.

As a common emotional and psychogenic disorder, anxiety disorder seriously threats the human physical and mental health. Ventral tegmental area (VTA) is the canter of the mesocortical limbic circuit, with extensive bidirectional connections to forebrain areas, and plays important role in regulating reward, motivation, cognition, and disgust. Besides, VTA is involved in anxiety regulation by forming functional connections with multiple brain regions and connecting external stimulus information and feedback output behaviours. This article briefly summarizes the different cell subsets of VTA and its involvement in anxiety-related neural circuits.

The correlation between hearing loss (HL) and physical performance in patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) remains poorly investigated. This study explored the association between HL and physical performance in patients on MHD. Methods: This multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted between July 2020 and April 2021 in seven hemodialysis centers in Shanghai and Suzhou, China. The hearing assessment was performed using pure-tone average (PTA). Physical performance was assessed using the Timed Up and Go Test (TUGT), handgrip strength, and gait speed. Results: Finally, 838 adult patients (male, 516 [61.6%]; 61.2 ± 2.6 years) were enrolled. Among them, 423 (50.5%) had mild to profound HL (male, 48.6% and female, 53.4%). Patients with HL had poorer physical performance than patients without HL (p < 0.001). TUGT was positively correlated with PTA (r = 0.265, p < 0.001), while handgrip strength and gait speed were negatively correlated with PTA (r = –0.356, p < 0.001 and r = –0.342, p < 0.001, respectively). Physical performance in patients aged <60 years showed significant dose-response relationships with HL. After adjusting for confounders, the odds ratios (95% confidence intervals) for HL across the TUGT quartiles (lowest to highest) were 1.00 (reference), 1.15 (0.73–1.81), 1.69 (1.07–2.70), and 2.87 (1.69–4.88) (p for trend = 0.005). Conclusion: Lower prevalence of HL was associated with a faster TUGT and a stronger handgrip strength in patients on MHD.

To promote the development of extracellular vesicles of herbal medicine especially the establishment of standardization, led by the National Expert Committee on Research and Application of Chinese Herbal Vesicles, research experts in the field of herbal medicine and extracellular vesicles were invited nationwide with the support of the Expert Committee on Research and Application of Chinese Herbal Vesicles, Professional Committee on Extracellular Vesicle Research and Application, Chinese Society of Research Hospitals and the Guangdong Engineering Research Center of Chinese Herbal Vesicles. Based on the collation of relevant literature, we have adopted the Delphi method, the consensus meeting method combined with the nominal group method to form a discussion draft of "Consensus statement on research and application of Chinese herbal medicine derived extracellular vesicles-like particles (2023)". The first draft was discussed in online and offline meetings on October 12, 14, November 2, 2022 and April and May 2023 on the current status of research, nomenclature, isolation methods, quality standards and research applications of extracellular vesicles of Chinese herbal medicines, and 13 consensus opinions were finally formed. At the Third Academic Conference on Research and Application of Chinese Herbal Vesicles, held on May 26, 2023, Kewei Zhao, convenor of the consensus, presented and read the consensus to the experts of the Expert Committee on Research and Application of Chinese Herbal Vesicles. The consensus highlights the characteristics and advantages of Chinese medicine, inherits the essence, and keeps the righteousness and innovation, aiming to provide a reference for colleagues engaged in research and application of Chinese herbal vesicles at home and abroad, decode the mystery behind Chinese herbal vesicles together, establish a safe, effective and controllable accurate Chinese herbal vesicle prevention and treatment system, and build a bridge for Chinese medicine to the world.
