The graphene prepared by chemical vapor deposition onto copper foils was transferred onto a poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) soft substrate by the aid of poly-methyl methacrylate (PMMA).The soft G/AuNPs/GOD composite electrode based on PET substrate was fabricated using a protocol in which the uniform distribution of Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) was firstly obtained by controlling the evaporation of gold sol on a graphene surface, then thioglycolic acid (TGA) was modified on the AuNPs through Au-S bond, and finally glucose oxidase (GOD) was immobilized on the surface of AuNPs through acylation reaction between TGA and the GOD.Glucose was detected in the linear range from 0.05 to 10.55 mmol/L with a linear correlation coefficient (r) of 0.9955.The detection was performed in phosphate buffer solution (pH 7) at 25℃ with a working potential of 0.6 V (vs.SCE electrode), and the detection limit was 1 μmol/L (3σ).The G/AuNPs/GOD flexible electrode based on PET substrate provided a new pathway to detect glucose in special environments using wearable equipment, which enlarged the applied field of glucose detection.

OBJECTIVE Although it is generally believed that nicotine accounts for the beneficial effect of smoking on ulcerative colitis, the underlying mechanisms remain not well- understood. Our previous finding that nicotine inhibits inflammatory responses through inducing miRNA-124 prompted us to ask whether the miRNA is involved in the protective action of nicotine on UC. METHODS MiR-124 expression in colon tissues and cells was determined by q-PCR and in situ hybridization. The effect of miR-124 on protective role of nicotine in ulcerative colitis was evaluated in DSS-treated mice and IL-6-treated Caco-2 colon epithelial cells. Expression of p-STAT3/STAT3 was detected by immuno?histochemistry and Western blot analysis. RESULTS miR- 124 expression is upregulated in colon tissues from patients and DSS- induced colitis. Nicotine treatment further elevated miR- 124 level in colon tissues of the mice, in infiltrated lymphocytes and epithelial cells, and augmented miR- 124 expression in lymphocytes isolated from human ulcerative colon tissues. Administration of nicotine also reduced weight loss, improved DAI and decreased HE score in DSS-induced colitis. Moreover, knock?down of miR-124 in vivo significantly diminished the beneficial effect of nicotine, and in vitro on IL-6-treated Caco-2 colon epithelial cells. Further analysis indicated that nicotine inhibited STAT3 activation in vivo and in IL-6-treated Caco-2 colon epithelial cells and Jurkat human T lymphocytes, in which miR-124 knockdown led to increased activation of STAT3. CONCLUSION These data indicated that nicotine exerts its protective action in UC through inducing miR-124 and its effect on STAT3, suggesting that the miR-124/STAT3 system is a potential target for the therapeutic intervention of UC.

Objective To determine the prevalence of and correlations between HIV infection and syphilis among men who have sex with men (MSM) in Beijing. Methods Totally,600 MSM collected from sentinel surveillance sites for AIDS in Beijing were recruited in this study, and underwent screening tests for HIV infection and syphilis.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used for the primary screening for HIV infection, and Western blot for its confirmation. Both nontreponemal test (rapid plasma regain (RPR) assay) and treponemal test (Treponema pallidum particle agglutination assay,TPPA) were performed to detect syphilis, and only those with a reactive TPPA result were defined as having syphilis (including past infection).Specimens confirmed as HIV-1 positive were further tested with BED-capture enzyme immunoassay (CEIA) to find recent HIV-1 infection, and the incidence of HIV infection was then calculated. The correlation between syphilis and HIV infection was statistically analyzed. Results Of the 600 MSM,49 (8.17%) had HIV infection, including 14 cases of recent infection, with the incidence rate of HIV infection being 4.68%; 51 were positive for both RPR and TPPA tests with the infection rate (including past infection) being 18.5% (111/600).People without a Beijing household registration and those with high education levels accounted for a large proportion of HIV-infected MSM.Conclusions The prevalence and incidence of HIV infection as well as prevalence of syphilis maintain at a relatively high level in MSM in Beijing.HIV infection is markedly correlated with syphilis in MSM population.

Objective Idiopathic membranous nephropathy(IMN)is a common cause of nephrotic syndrome in adults, and the prognosis of IMN varies among individuals. The aim of this study was to investigate the prognosis and risk factors, especially the prognostic indicators in kidney patholo?gies for IMN. Methods Patients diagnosed as IMN by renal biopsy from January 2006 to December 2011 were collected and those who finished at least 12 months of follow?up were enrolled in this study. The clinical and renal pathological indicators were collected and the correlation between the pathological indicators and the prognosis was analyzed. Results Totally 137 patients were enrolled in this study,18 patients(13.14%)reached the follow up ending point(defined as eGFR<30 mL/min). The prognosis of kidney function was poor in IMN patients with interstitial fibrosis, tubular atrophy and severe vascular sclerosis and those who were older at disease onset and demonstrated to have higher MAP,poorer renal function, intersti?tial fibrosis, tubular atrophy and worse vascular sclerosis. Conclusion Renal pathological characteristics during renal biopsy were correlated with the renal prognosis of IMN. Severe interstitial fibrosis, tubular atrophy and vascular sclerosis were identified as risk factors for the poor prognosis of re?nal function in IMN patients.

OBJECTIVETo compare the differences of active ingredients between tissue cultured cells and cultivated saffron pistils.
METHODThe experiment was carried out by the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) spectra and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
RESULTThe data indicated that the species and contents active ingredients in saffron pistils from different places were different. The species of active ingredients in tissue cultured cells are less than those in cultivated saffron pistils. However, the quantity of crocin A, which showed good anticancer effect, is 2-3 times more than that in cultivated saffron pistils.
CONCLUSIONThe active ingredients of the tissue cultured cells are similar to those of saffron pistils, but their contents are different. Therefore, the tissue cultured cells can only be the part-substitutes of cultivated saffron pistils.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the ability of Biopure MTAD in removing smear layer in vitro.
METHODSForty extracted single-rooted human teeth were randomly divided into five groups: Distilled water in group A, 5.25% NaClO and 17% EDTA in group B, 1.3% NaClO in group C, 1.3% NaClO and Biopure MTAD in group D, 1.3% NaClO and 3% EDTA in group E. The canals were prepared and irrigated with one of the five different irrigating agent respectively. The amount of smear layer and erosion on the surface of the root canal walls were examined with scanning electron microscope.
RESULTSThe whole surfaces of root canals in group A and C were covered by smear layer. The surfaces of root canals in the coronal and middle thirds of samples in group B, D, E were free of smear layer (P>0.05) and the apical third of canals in the group D were significantly cleaner (P<0.05) than that in group B and E. The coronal and middle sections were significantly eroded in group B compared with group D and E (P<0.05). The degree of erosion in the apical section was not statistically different among group B, D and E (P>0.05).
CONCLUSIONBiopure MTAD and 1.3% NaClO are effective irrigating agents for removal of the smear layer on the surface of root canal. There is no significant change in the structure of the surface of root canal.

OBJECTIVETo study the infrared (IR) fingerprint spectra of Coptis chinensis for different parts, ages, and heights, and to analyze the integrate rules about the content of berberine component in Coptis chinensis for different parts, ages, and heights.
METHODThe Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was applied to detect the infrared spectra of Coptis chinensis samples rapidly and non-separately.
RESULTSThe IR spectra of the root, leafstalk, and fibre of Coptis chinesis have their unique features. The content of berberine component in Coptis chinensis was different for different parts and the sequence: root > leafstalk > fibre. When Coptis chinensis grows, the content of berberine component in leafstalk also increases. The content of berberine component in leafstalk which planting in 1 200 m was less than that in 1 300, 1 400, and 1 500 m. The ages and heights provide no obvious influences on the content of berberine in the root of Coptis chinensis.
CONCLUSIONUsing FTIR spectroscopy, the quality of Coptis chinensis can be controlled, which provides a useful method for the standardized planting of Coptis chinensis.
