Background Intermittent exotropia is a type of strabismus that between latent extropia and manifest extropia. The assessment of fusional convergence/divergence is important for understanding control ability of exodeviation in children with intermittent exotropia. Objective This study was to analyze the correlations between fusional convergence/divergence and control ability of exodeviation in children with intermittent exotropia. Methods Sixty-three children with intermittent exotropia were recruited in Beijing Tongren Eye Centre from July 2013 to February 2014 under the informed consent of children and their parents.Angle of deviation was measured by wearing prism and covering method alternately. The control ability of exodeviation was evaluated and scored by the Revised Newcastle Control Score (RNCS),and fusional convergence and divergence were measured with 1 Δ-40Δ horizonal prisms and regulating targets. The correlations between the measured parameters of fusional convergence/divergence and control scores of exotropia were analyzed by Spearman rank correlation analysis. Results The mean diopter of the right and left eyes was (-1.95 ± 1.63)D and (-2.01 ± 1.73)D,respectively,and the mean deviation angle for distantly and near was (36.67 ± 15.69) Δ and (38.25 ± 14.83) Δ,respectively, without significant differences between them (diopter:t =-0.13,P>0.05;deviation angle:t =-0.57,P>0.05).Considerably negative correlations were found between the breakpoints of fusional convergence for distant or near and control scores of exodeviation (rs =-0.41,P=0.03;rs =-0.56,P<0.01).No significant correlations were found between the breakpoints of fusional divergence for distantly or near and control scores of exodeviation (rs =0.05,P =0.78;rs =0.04,P <0.75).In addtion, there was no significant correlation between fusional recovery level and control scores (both at P > 0.05).Conclusions Breakpoints of fusional convergence may be useful in grading the severity of intermittent exotropia in children, and it is probably one of the surgical indications of intermittent exotropia.

Objective:To evaluate the effect of self-management treatment for patients with chronic Keshan disease in Gansu Province. Methods:From March to June 2018, 243 patients with chronic Keshan disease who were treated by self-management treatment outside the hospital in 7 Keshan disease counties in Gansu Province were selected as the survey subjects, and their general demographic and clinical data were collected. At the same time, the survey subjects were given a 6-month self-management treatment, and the self-management scale was used to evaluate the patients' self-management behavior before treatment and 6 months after treatment. The higher the score, the better the patients' self-management behavior. The influencing factors of self-management scale were analyzed by multiple linear regression analysis. Results:Excluding incomplete data, a total of 158 patients with chronic Keshan disease were included in this survey, including 96 males and 62 females. Compared with patients before self-management treatment, the patients' cardiac function classification and work ability improved significantly after 6 months of self-management treatment ( Z = - 4.685, - 5.934, P < 0.05); cardiothoracic ratio decreased (0.61 ± 0.08 vs 0.63 ± 0.09, t = 5.175, P < 0.05); in the cardiac color Doppler ultrasound indexes, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and left ventricular fractional shortening (LVFS) were increased (0.41 ± 0.11 vs 0.36 ± 0.07, 0.21 ± 0.07 vs 0.18 ± 0.05, t = - 6.504, - 5.391, P < 0.05); the total score of the self-management scale was increased [(53.86 ± 9.29) scores vs (51.46 ± 10.50) scores, t = - 3.696, P < 0.05]. Further analysis of the efficacy of the patients' cardiac function classification showed that the patients' medication compliance was positively correlated with the efficacy of the cardiac function classification ( r = 0.243, P < 0.05). The result of multiple linear regression analysis showed that education level and efficacy of the cardiac function classification were influencing factors of the self-management scale for patients with chronic Keshan disease ( t = 2.466, 2.635, P < 0.05). Conclusion:The self-management treatment for patients with chronic Keshan disease can effectively improve heart function and improve self-management behavior.

The photolytic behavior of deoxyadenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin in water solution was investigated with high performance liquid chromatography. The results indicated that the photolytic cleavage rate increased with the light intensity, according to which a new method was developed to determine the concentration of vitamin B12 in fermentation broth. The samples were completely photolyzed after cell disruption. The content of vitamin B12 was obtained by determining the content of the hydroxycobalamin. The method shows many advantages, such as rapidness, high accuracy and low sample quantity needed, over traditions methods. The developed method may be used in the field of vitamin B12 fermentation.

Aim To explore the changes of Apelin/APJ system in LPS-induced injury of rat pulmonary mi-crovascular endothelial cells( PMVECs) , and the effect and mechanism of Apelin. Methods PMVECs were cultured with the explant technique, and the identifica-tion of rat PMVECs was carried out by immunocyto-chemical staining of factorⅧrelated antigen. MTT as-say was used to evaluate the viability of PMVECs. The mRNA expression of Apelin and APJ was detected by RT-PCR. The protein expression of PCNA and the phosphorylation of Akt was analyzed by Western blot. Results The mRNA expression of Apelin and APJ showed a compensatory increase after LPS treatment for a short period of time ( P<0. 01 ) , but with the exten-sion of time, which was significantly inhibited, even lower than the control group ( P<0. 05 or P<0. 01 ) , suggesting that Apelin/ APJ system might be involved in LPS-induced PMVECs injury. MTT results showed that 10 -6 ~10 -9 mol · L-1 Apelin obviously promoted the proliferation of rat PMVECs ( P <0. 05 or P <0. 01 ) , and with certain concentration and time de-pendence. Moreover, Apelin also improved the LPS-induced PMVECs injury in different degrees ( P<0. 05 or P < 0. 01 ) . In addition, Western blot analysis showed that Apelin significantly reversed the decrease of the protein expression of PCNA and the Akt phos-phorylation level induced by LPS ( P <0. 05 or P <0. 01 ) . Conclusions The Apelin/APJ system is in-volved in LPS-induced PMVECs injury. Apelin plays an important role in protecting the pulmonary microvas-cular endothelial function and reversing the LPS-in-duced PMVECs injury, which might be related to the activation of Akt phosphorylation pathway.
