OBJECTIVETo determine the physiological role of D-bifunctional protein (DBP) in bile acid biosynthesis through investigating the effect of increasing activity of DBP on bile acid biosynthesis.
METHODSTwenty male Wistar rats were divided into two groups: diethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) group (n = 10) and control group (n = 10). Serum triglyceride, total cholesterol, hepatic DBP activity, and fecal bile acids were assayed. The mRNA levels of hepatic peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARalpha), DBP, and cholesterol 7alpha-hydroxylase (CYP7A1) were detected by RT-PCR.
RESULTSCompared with control group, serum triglyceride level was decreased significantly and PPARalphamRNA level was increased significantly in DEHP group (P < 0.01). Together with a sharp induction of DBP mRNA expression and DBP activity in DEHP group (P < 0.01), the levels of CYP7A1 mRNA and fecal bile acids were significantly increased by 1.9 times and 1.6 times respectively compared to control group (P < 0.01). There was a significantly positive correlation between DBP mRNA level or DBP activity and CYP7A1 mRNA level (r = 0.89, P < 0.01; r = 0.95, P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONThe up-regulation of DBP mRNA and activity in liver can result in the increase in CYP7A1 mRNA expression and bile acid biosynthesis, suggesting that DBP may be involved in bile acid biosynthesis together with CYP7A1.

Objective To compare the 7th edition of International Union Against Cancer ( UICC) staging system with the Chinese 2008 staging system for nasopharyngeal carcinoma ( NPC) , and to provide evidence for further updating of the staging system. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed among 767 patients who were pathologically and newly diagnosed with non?metastatic NPC and treated with intensity?modulated radiotherapy from 2006 to 2012. Based on the main prognostic indices, overall survival ( OS) , locoregional failure?free survival( LFFS) local relapse?free survival ( LRFS) , and distant metastasis?free survival ( DMFS) rates, the value of T stage, N stage, and clinical stage in prognostic prediction was compared between the two staging systems. The Kaplan?Meier method was used for calculating survival rates. The log?rank test was used for survival difference analysis. The Cox model was used for multivariate prognostic analysis. Results In terms of T stage, the Chinese 2008 staging system was a significantly better predictor of the OS and LRFS rates than the 7th edition of UICC staging system. In terms of N stage, they were comparable in the prediction of the OS and DMFS rates. In terms of clinical stage, the 7th edition of UICC staging system was a significantly better predictor of the OS rate than the Chinese 2008 staging system. For the new staging system proposed based on the statistical results, the T, N, and clinical staging gave significantly better prognostic prediction. Conclusions The 7th edition of UICC staging system and the Chinese 2008 staging system for NPC have their own advantages in prognostic prediction. The new staging system proposed in this study could contribute to the updating of the current staging system for NPC.

Objective To assess the value of 18F-FDG PET-CT in monitoring early chemotherapy response in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).Methods 56 patients with DLBCL received 18F-FDG PET-CT before and after 2 cycles of chemotherapy (CHOP or R-CHOP protocol). The patients were divided into 3 groups, including complete response group (30 cases),partial response group (18 cases) and no response group (8 cases). The x2 test was performed on comparison of complete remission rate and the t test on SUVmax. Results Complete remission rate of complete response group, partial response group and no response group were 93.33 % (28/30),66.67 % (12/18),and 12.50 % (1/8),respectively (x2 =21.62,P < 0.005).Complete remission rate of complete response group was higher than that of partial response group (x 2 =4.00,P < 0.05).Complete remission rates of complete response group and partial response group were higher than that of no response group (x2 =18.58,P < 0.005; x2 =4.51,P < 0.05).A significant difference was observed in SUVmax of partial response group before and after chemotherapy (17.18±4.68 vs 5.20±3.35,t =14.32,P < 0.001) and no obvious difference was showed in SUVmax of no response group between before and after chemotherapy (16.63±6.49 vs 13.81±5.95,t =2.073 2,P > 0.05).Conclusion 18F-FDG PET-CT is very useful and helpful for predicting early chemotherapy response in DLBCL.

Objective To analyze the investigation results of an acute respiratory infection outbreak caused by adenovirus and provide scientific information for the prevention and control of congener public health emergencies .Methods A case‐control study was performed with grades and gender as matching factor ,all cases and selected controls were investigated with the same question‐naire .Results A totul of 47 cases were diagnosed in the outbreak ,no death ,the attack rate was 8 .88% ;the main clinical symptom was fever and 27 .7% of the cases became pneumonia .The case‐control study analysis demonstrated that with close contact to cases or not(χ2 =7 .96 ,P<0 .05) ,contact time (χ2 =7 .95 ,P<0 .05) ,hand washing habits (χ2 =25 .92 ,P<0 .05) and with or without the habit of cleaning snivel by hand directly (χ2 =22 .78 ,P<0 .05) were statistically different between cases and controls .Conclu‐sion long‐time contact to cases maybe the main risk factor for the adenovirus infection ,especially the contact manner were sharing the same desk or playing together .A good health habit of washing hands often and no cleaning snivel by hand directly were impor‐tant protective factors .Thus ,strengthening the training of health habit and awareness is the important preventive measure for re‐spiratory infectious diseases .

In order to establish a method by which the recombinant suicide plasmids integrated on the chromosome could be recircled, A simple method of transconjugative cloning was established with the helper plasmids pMT999 or pRK2013 and fusion strains of Shigella flexneri which were obtained by screening with in vivo expression technology. And the cloning efficiency with this method is very high.
