Objective To determine the incidence of thrombogenic events during the prostate operation period in patients discontinuing aspirin.Methods Among a retrospective cohort of 342 patients admitted in our institution for benign prostatic hyperplasia (or prostate cancer),combined with acute coronary syndrome (or stroke),we studied 4 patients who had not been taking aspirin before thrombogenic vascular event.Data on age,sex,vascular disease risk factors,and clinical outcome were collected.Results The 4 patients' mean age was 78.8±5.9 years.Each patient had at least two following risk factors:atrial fibrillation,old cerebral infarction and type 2 diabetes.80％ patients had a clinical history of hypertension.2 of the 4 patients stopped aspirin before a surgical procedure and developed acute ischemic stroke and acute myocardial infarction,separately.The other two patients developed acute ischemic stroke without aspirin prescription.The median time between admission and thrombogenic events was 15.5± 10.5 days.All patients were not given finasteride on admission.Conclusions This study should alert clinicians to know the risk of aspirin withdrawl perioperatively in patients at high risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

Objective:To evaluate the effects of pigment concentration on spectral reflectance of pigmented silicone elastomer.Methods: Six kinds of pigment at different concentrations was respectively added into MDX-4-4210 silicone elastomer to prepare six series of single-chroma-samples, including red, yellow, blue, brown, white and black.The pigment concentrations to base elastomer were set at 0.1, 0.2 , 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6,0.7, 0.8, 0.9 and 1.0C, respectively while other conditions were kept the same. C is the maximum pigment concentration in practical use. The target samples were also prepared. By spectrophotometer, the spectral data of the single-chroma-samples and target samples were measured.Results:With the increase of pigment concentration, the spectral reflectance of the six series of single-chroma-samples and target samples decreased.Conclusion:Increase of pigment concentration may result in decrease of spectral reflectance of single-chroma-samples and taget samples.

Objective To investigate the clinical skill and experience of laparoscopic herniorrhaphy in the treatment of abdominal hernia. Methods Clinical data of 30 cases of abdominal hernia undergoing laparoscopic her-niorrhaphy in Shengjing Hospital from May 2004 to December 2008 were analyzed retrospectively. There were 23 in-guinal hernia,4 incision hernia and 3 hiatal hernia. TEP in 20 cases,TAPP in 3 cases,lPOM in 4 cases and Nissen hiatal hernia repair in 3 cases were performed. Results The mean operating duration was 72 min for TEP, 127 for TAPP,150 min for IPOM,and ]60 min for hiatal hernia repair and the mean time for hospitalization was 4.6,5.8, 7.5, and 5.3 days. No conversion to open surgery happened among these cases. No recurrence was found. Conclu-sions Laparoscopic herniorrhaphy appears to be an effective and convenient technique for the treatment of abdomi-nal hernia and has many advantages of minimally invasive surgery.

The effect and mechanism of mulberry leaves extracts (MLE) on glucose uptake of insulin-resistant HepG2 cells in vitro was explored. The insulin resistant models of HepG2 were induced by high concentration of insulin for 24 h. The models were incubated in a buffer containing mulberry leaves extracts. The glucose consumption was detected by glucose assay kits and the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), Akt activation was examined by Western blotting. Mulberry leaves polysaccharides, mulberry leaves flavonoids and mulberry leaves extracts advanced glucose uptake of insulin-resistant HepG2 cells; Mulberry leaves extracts enhance phosphorylation of AMPK. Mulberry leaves extracts do not change the phosphorylation status of Akt. The glucose consumptions of insulin resistant model of HepG2 were promoted by mulberry leaves extracts. MLE stimulates HepG2 cell AMPK activity acutely without changing the Akt activity.

Objective To compare the efficacy and complications of Chinese Shang Ring circumcision with conventional circumcisiom Methods Clinical data of 479 cases of Chinese Shang Ring circumcision and 354 cases of conventional circumcision with complete follow-up were analyzed.Comparisons were made between the two groups on operation time,pain score,blood loss,postoperative complications,postoperative satisfaction with penile appearance,wound healing time and treatment costs. Results There was no statistical difference in age and foreskin status between the two groups (P＞0.05).For the Shang Ring group,the operation time was(5±1)rain,blood loss was (0.98±1.14)ml,pain score during operation was 0.25±0.54,24-hour pain score after operation was 1.63±0.87,the postoperative complication rate was 6.89% (33/479),wound healing time was (20±5)d,the satisfaction rate of appearance was 99.79% (478/479),and treatment cost was (871±52) yuan.For the conventional group,the operation time was (27±5) min,blood loss was (8.30±3.60)ml,pain score during operation was 3.29±1.57,24-hour pain score after operation was 5.56±1.42,the postoperative complication rate was 13.28%(47/354),wound healing time was (13±2)d,satisfaction rate of appearance was 92.37% (327/354),and treatment cost was (554±46) yuan.Compared with the conventional group,the Shang Ring group had a shorter operation time,less blood loss,less pain score,higher appearance satisfaction rate and a lower complication rate (P＜0.05).But wound healing time was longer and treatment cost was higher in the Shang Ring group (P＜0.05). Conclusions Chinese Shang Ring circumcision is simpler and an improved approach over conventional circumeision with shorter operative time,less blood loss,less pain,relatively lower complication rate and higher satisfaction and acceptability.

Objective:To establish the microbial limit test methods for thirteen kinds of ointments. Methods:The microbial limit of 13 kinds of ointments was respectively determined by the routine method, culture medium dilution method and membrane filtration method. Results:The recovery of the tested bacteria in the samples was above 70% by the different methods. Conclusion:The micro-bial limit test methods for thirteen kinds of ointments are stablished, which may be used in the quality control.

AIM: To observe the effects of oxygen free radical (OFR) and captopril on the level of asymmetric NG, NG-dimethyl-L-arginine (ADMA) in human vascular endothelial cells (HUVECs).METHODS: HUVECs of 3-6 th passage, cultured with modified Jaffes' method, were used in the experiment and divided into three groups: (1)Cells cultured with equivalence of DMEM medium as control; (2)OFR intervention groups, OFR at concentrations of 0 01 mmol/L, or 0 1 mmol/L, respectively, were added to the cell culture; (3)Drug intervention groups: the cell culture was treated with 0 1 mmol/L of OFR combined with 50 mg/L or 100 mg/L of captopril, respectively. Concentrations of ADMA, L-arginine, nitric oxide(NO), endothelin(ET) and the activity of angiotensin-converting enzyme(ACE) in conditioned medium were measured after 24 h exposure. RESULTS: Concentrations of ADMA, ET and the activity of ACE were increased, while the amount of NO decreased in OFR intervention groups compared with control group. After treatment with captopril, ADMA, ET concentrations and the activity of ACE were decreased, while the amount of NO increased, but the level of L-arginine had no obvious change. CONCLUSIONS: OFR induces endothelial dysfunction through increasing ADMA concentration, while captopril relieves endothelial dysfunction induced by ox-LDL through decreasing ADMA concentration.
