Background and purpose:Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Approximately 15%of all histological types consist of small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Chemotherapy is one of the major treatment methods. Though the current front-line standard chemotherapy regimen for SCLC is active in most SCLC cases, however, the disease recurs shortly after the ifrst successful treatment with multi-drug resistance phenotype. Our previously study showed that zinc ifnger protein X-linked (ZFX) was overexpressed in SCLC cells. This study aimed to investigate the expression of ZFX in SCLC tissues, and to clear their possible associations with clinical parameters and provide basis for therapy of SCLC. Methods:A total of 98 surgical specimens of small cell lung cancer were collected. The expression of ZFX was examined by quantiifcational real-time polymerase chain reaction in 78 specimens taken from patients with complete clinical data. Results:The expression of ZFX was signiifcantly increased in extensive stages than in limited stages. The expression of ZFX was associated with tumor stage, the sensitivity of chemotherapy, and survival times (all P<0.05), no data was found correlated with gender and ages (P>0.05). Conclusion: ZFX expression might be associated with the development of SCLC, and may be a potential prognosis predictor.

OBJECTIVETo study the relationship between single nucleotide polymorphisms of paraoxonase 2 (PON2) and stroke.
METHODSObjects examined comprised of three groups: 120 healthy people, 150 patients with cerebral hemorrhage, 180 patients with cerebral infarction. The PON2 genotypes were determined with PCR and digested by specific restriction enzymes.
RESULTSC311S and G148A polymorphisms of PON2 gene existed among population of Chinese Hunan area, with the allele frequencies 0.23/0.77 for C/S and 0.57/0.43 for G/A in the control group. There was no significant difference of genotype and allele frequency between stroke patients and controls (P>0.05).
CONCLUSIONC311S polymorphism of PON2 has no significant correlation with stroke in Han people of Chinese Hunan area and allele C/S is not an independent risk factor for stroke, neither is G148A.

OBJECTIVETo explore the distribution of lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase gene (LCAT) 608C/T polymorphism in Chinese Han population and the relationship of the polymorphism association with the occurrence of atherosclerotic cerebral infarction.
METHODSThe lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase gene 608C/T polymorphism is identified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), single-strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP)and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) in 150 patients with ACI and 122 healthy controls matching age and sex.
RESULTSThe distribution of LCAT 608C/T gene polymorphism was in accordance with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. The CT genotype frequency (14.0%) and T allele frequency (7.0%) in ACI group were significantly higher than those in control group (P<0.05). The concentration of high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) in 608CC subgroups were significantly higher than those in 608CT subgroups both in ACI group and in control group (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe LCAT 608C/T polymorphism is possibly a predisposing factor in ACI happening of Chinese Han population. T allele frequency is possibly concerned with the metabolism of HDL-C.

Objective:
To investigate the effects of glutamate (Glu) injected into hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus (PVN) on visceral pain of chronic visceral hypersensitivity (CVH) rats and its possible mechanism.
Methods:
Newborn SD rats were given CVH rat model by colorectal distension (CRD) on the 8th, 10th and 12th day after birth. Thirty rats with successful CVH model were randomly divided into CVH model group (CVH group), CVH + injection of saline into PVN group (NS group), CVH+ injection of Glu into PVN (3, 6, and 12 μg Glu, namely G3, G6, and G12, respectively), 6 rats in each group, and 6 SD rats with matching body mass were taken as sham operation group (Sham group). The pain behavior of the rats was evaluated by pain threshold, abdominal withdrawal reflex (AWR) score, and abdominal external oblique muscle electromyography (EMG). The expression of arginine vasopressin (AVP) and the proliferation of colon tissue were detected by immunohistochemical staining. The apoptosis of colon tissue was detected by TUNEL.
Results:
Compared with the NS group, the pain thresholds of the G3, G6 and G12 groups increased, and the AWR scores and EMG amplitudes decreased. The differences were statistically significant(Pain threshold:

Chinese Journal of Plastic Surgery 2018;34(2):92-97
Objective:
To explore the nipple-areola complex blood supply mode in hypertrophic breasts, and to obtain the pertinent knowledge of vascular anatomy for breast reduction surgery as well as the analysis of similarities and differences between hypertrophic and normal breasts. Comparing the blood supply of nipples-areola complex between these two groups for analyzing their similarities and differences.
Methods:
Three dimensional reconstruction of the arteries in breast were performed in 50 patients between September 2015 and August 2017 with breast hypertrophy by computed tomographic angiography (CT angiography). The distribution pattern and the source direction of each main blood vessel was observed, counted and analyzed. Then, the data of breast hypertrophy patients were compared with the previous data about nipple-areola blood supply in normal population (the definition of main vessel: entering the breast gland or reaching the nipple-areola surrounding area, and diameter larger than 1 mm). Statistical description was taken for comparison.
Results:
135 main vessels were observed in 100 breasts (50 patients). They mainly originate from the internal thoracic artery (69, 51.1%), lateral thoracic artery (37, 27.4%) and thoracoacromial artery(16, 11.9%), as well as a small amount from the brachial artery (7, 5.2%) and axillary artery(6, 4.4%). No main supply vessels from the posterior intercostal artery have been found. The patterns of breast blood supply varied among individuals, and high asymmetry ratio in the same individual was also observed. The internal superior (left: 30.7%, right: 34.2%) and superior lateral quadrant (Left: 29.2%, Right: 20%) of the breast was the most likely area for the main vessel to pass, followed by the breast lateral (Left: 16.9%, Right: 18.5%), lower inner (Left: 4.6%, Right: 5.7%), central (Left: 4.6%, Right: 4.2%), and superior (Left: 1.5%, Right: 2.8%). Differences existed in main vessels between normal breasts and hypertrophic breasts, either for source arteries or the distribution of breast. There was no main blood supply from the intercostal arteries or across the outer inferior quadrant.
Conclusions
The blood supply of the nipple-areola is not completely consistent between the hypertrophic breast and the normal size breast, and the blood supply pattern of the hypertrophic breasts is complex and diverse. CT angiography might be used before breast reduction surgery for clarifying the direction of the main vessels, so as to preserve more blood supply for nipple-areola, and to prevent nipple-areola necrosis.
