3.Short-segment versus long-segment pedicle screw fixation for repair of thoracolumbar fracture:one-year follow-up of vertebral compression rate
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2015;(13):2040-2044
BACKGROUND:The effects of posterior decompression fixation in the repair of thoracolumbar fracture are affirmative. The fixation was divided into short-segment and long-segment pedicle screw fixation according to different treatment methods. The therapeutic effects of above two methods are controversial in the clinic at present. OBJECTIVE:To compare and observe the anterior vertebral compression ratio and the changes in Cobb angle after posterior short-segment and long-segment pedicle screw placement fixation in the repair of thoracolumbar fracture. METHODS:120 patients with thoracolumbar fracture were enrol ed in this study, and assigned to two groups according to fixation methods. Study group received posterior short-segment pedicle screw fixation. Control group received posterior long-segment pedicle screw fixation. Anterior vertebral compression rate and Cobb angle were observed before fixation, immediately and 12 months after fixation in both groups. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:There was no significant difference in anterior vertebral compression rate and Cobb angle between the two groups before fixation (P>0.05). Anterior vertebral compression rate and Cobb angle were significantly smal er in the study group than in the control group immediately and 12 months after fixation (P<0.05). Besides, surgical time and blood loss volume were less in the study group than in the control group (P<0.05). These results indicated that posterior short-segment pedicle screw fixation for treatment of thoracolumbar fracture can effectively improve kyphosis, recover vertebral compression degree, and its surgical time is short and blood loss volume during surgery is little, so it is better than posterior long-segment pedicle screw fixation.
4.Molecular Typing of Neisseria Gonorrhoeae by Pulsed field Gel Electrophoresis and Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA Analysis
Chinese Journal of Dermatology 1995;0(03):-
Objective To evaluate the ability of restriction endonuclease analysis by pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE REA) and random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis for molecular typing of Neisseria gonorrhoeae isolates. Methods Genomic DNA from 36 Neisseria gonorrhoeae isolates were digested with SpeI and analysed by contour clamped homogeneous electric fields electrophoresis. The 36 isolates were also characterised by RAPD analysis with arbitrary primer OPA 03. Results 12~19 DNA fragments from 5 to 600kb were obtained among the 36 isolates after PFGE REA. The 36 isolates were discriminated into 20 PFGE patterns. Amplification of Neisseria gonorrhoeae DNA with primer OPA 03 produced 15 different DNA fragments (280~1900bp), and 3~9 fragments per strain could be seen. The 36 isolates showed 18 different RAPD patterns. Strains sharing common auxotypes and antibiotic spectrum could be differentiated by PFGE REA and RAPD analysis. General agreement was found between these two techniques. Isolates from different geographic areas and even some isolates in the same area showed considerable amount of DNA polymorphism. In addition, some isolates shared common or very similar patterns were unique to a given geographic area. Conclusion It is concluded that both PFGE REA and RAPD analysis are useful, sensitive molecular techniques for differentiation of clinical isolates of Neisseria gonorrhoeae. They should be helpful in the investigation of strain origin, clonal relation among strains and spread of antibiotic resistance. Compared with PFGE REA, RAPD analysis is faster, relatively simple and more economical.

Chinese Traditional Patent Medicine 1992;0(01):-
AIM: To establish a method of determining eucalyptol, camphor, menthol and borneol in Ganmaokang Spray. METHODS: GC was conducted on a EC-WAX column(30 m?0.53 mm?1.2 ?m) and naphthalene was adopted as internal standard. RESULTS: Eucalyptol, camphor, menthol and borneol respectively showed a good linear relationship in the following ranges of concentration:0.384 48-0.987 12 mg/mL,0.240 6~(0.561 4 mg/mL,)0.367 56-0.857 6 mg/mL and 0.135 6-0.316 4 mg/mL. The average recoveries were obtained as 98.4%, 98.2%, 98.5% and 98.2%(n=5). CONCLUSION: The method is simple, sensitive, accurate and suitable for the determination of four constituents in Ganmaokang Spray.

Chinese Journal of Trauma 2017;33(1):82-87
Objective To observe the expression changes of microRNA-124(miRNA-124) following traumatic brain injury (TBI) in mice and investigate the correlation of miRNA-124 with neural axon regeneration. Methods Ninety-one C57BL/6 mice were assigned into TBI group (n =63) and control group (n =28) according to the random number table.Mice in TBI group were subjected to controlled cortical impact and euthanized at 12 hours and 1,3,7,14,21,28 days postinjury for the collection of brain tissue in the trauma zone.Mice in control group underwent craniectomy only.Trauma zone observation was done using the HE staining.Expression of miRNA-124 was detected using the real-time PCR.Levels of Nrp-1,Gap-43 and Tau were detected using the Western blot and immunohistochemical staining. Results After injtury, study of mice behavior and HE staining indicated the establishment of experimental model was successful.Expression of miRNA-124 reached the peak at 3 days postinjury (3.80 ± 0.22),expression of Nrp-1 reached the peak at 7 days postinjury (2.006 ±0.179),expression of Tau reached the peak at 14 days postinjury (2.063 ±0.172),and expression of Gap-43 sustained high level since 12 hours after injury(1.355 ± 0.093) (P < 0.05).Count of axon marker positive cells in TBI group was the lowest at 1 day postinjury due to the direct damage and edema, and then slowly recovered. There was no significant difference in the count of axon marker positive cells between the two groups at 14,21 and 28 days postinjury (P > 0.05),but the morphology in TBI group changed obviously.Although the positive cells of axon marker decreased at 1 day postinjury, expressions of miRNA-124,Nrp-1,Tau and Gap-43 in TBI group were significantly increased compared to the detections in control group (P < 0.05).Conclusion Increased expression of miRNA-124 in trauma zone may closely related to axon regeneration after TBI in mice.
