1.Treatment of Infantile Enuresis by Abdomen-kneading and Spine-pinching Method
Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2004;2(6):41-42
First, Tuina is applied on Lanmen (Extra point), Jianli (CV 11), Zhongwan (CV 12), Tianshu (ST 25), Qihai (CV 6), Guanyuan (CV 4) and Zhongji (CV 3). Then the spinal column and two sides of the spine are pressed and kneaded with the palm root downward, and finally the skin is pinched with the thumb and index finger of the two hands, along the Governor Vessel from Changqiang (GV 1) to Dazhui (DV 14). Eighty-nine cases of infantile enuresis were treated by this method. After 1-3 courses of the treatments, the results showed cure in 54 cases, improvement in 32 cases and failure in 3 cases, and the total effective rate in 96.6%.

Objective To observe the expression and the distribution of Netrin-1 in the spastic and normal segment of colon in patients with Hirschsprungs disease (HD) and investigate the relationship between Netrin-1 and development of HD.Methods Colon specimens of 36 cases with HD were selected for this study.Normal segment of colon served as the control group, while the spastic segments of colon as the lesion group.Immunohistochemical staining was applied to detecte the expression and the distribution of Netrin-1.Results Immunohistochemical staining showed that the expression of netrin-1 was positive in the intestinal muscular layers (longitudinal muscle, circular muscles),myenteric ganglias and mucosal layers in the control group. However, the expression of Netrin-1 was also positive in muscular layers and mucosal layer in the lesion group. There was no significant difference in the expression intensity of Netrin-1 between the two groups (P >0.05).Conclusion The expression of Netrin-1 in both the control group and the lesion group may indicate that netrin-1 have no significant correlation with genesis of HD.

Objective To investigate the effect of defecation modes on constipation and anxiety in patients with acute intracerebral hemorrhage. Methods Sixty three conscious patients with acute hintracerebral hemorrhage were recruited in this study.Twenty five patients chose bedside closestool for defecation according their own intention and 38 chose in bed defecation. The incidence of constipation was documented and the severity of anxiety was evaluated with Zung self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) at day 7,14,21 and 28 after admission in two groups. Results Patients using bedside closestool for defecation had significantly lower rate of constipation between day 14-28 after admission (x2 =63.0,P < 0.01) and lower SAS scores at day14,21 and 28 after admission (t =6.7,7.7 and 9.8,all P <0.01) than those with in bed defecation. Conclusions The bedside mode of defecation may improve constipation and anxiety in patients with acute intracerebral hemorrhage.

Objective To establish the quality standard of Tiaojing Zhixue Granules. Methods Radix Astragali,Radix Paeononiae Alba,Herba Ecliptae and Fructus Psoraleae in Tiaojing Zhixue Granules were identified by TLC;Paeoniflorin content in Tiaojing Zhixue Granules was determined by HPLC.Results The relevant spots in Radix Astragali,Radix Paenoniae Alba,Herba Ecliptae and Fructus Psoraleae can be identified by TLC.The content of paeoniflorin in Radix Paenoniae Alba can be determined by HPLC.The linearity of paeoniflorin was good in the range of 0.0968 ~ 0.4838 ?g(r = 0.9999).The average recovery of paeoniflorin was 99.71 % with RSD = 1.33 %.Conclusion The established quality standard is simple, feasible and repeatable, and can be used for quality supervisory of Tiaojing Zhixue Granules.

Shanyao (Dioscorea opposita Thunb.) is the one of the conventional herbs in the clinical practice, which is good at nourishing yin, and entering the lung, spleen and kidney meridian. Through analysis on all formulae contain-ing Shanyao in past dynasties, we found out the top 30 kinds of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbs for the highest frequency in combination with Shanyao, among which there were 28 herbs recorded in the Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing (Shen Nong's Classic of the Materia Medica) and 23 herbs were considered as the top grade medicinals. This article was focused on the analysis of the compatibility meaning and rules of Shanyao and supplementing medic-inals in order to provide scientific basis for clinical formulae and daily health cultivation so as to make good use of Shanyao.

This study is to establish an UPLC fingerprint of Resina Draconis from different manufacturers, which can provide a comprehensive evaluation for its quality control. The analysis was performed on a Phenomenex Kinetex 2.6 μ C18 100A column by agradientelution program with acetonitrile-water as mobile phase at a flow rate of 1.7 mL x min(-1). The column temperature was 40 degrees C and the detection wavelengthwas 280 nm. The fingerprints of 18 batches of Draconis Resina were further evaluated by chemometrics methods including similarity analysis (SA), hierarchical clustering analysis (HCA) and principal component analysis (PCA). As a result, there were 15 common peaks, 13 of which had been identified by LC-Q-TOF MS, and the similarity degrees of 15 batches of the samples was more than 0.9, and the samples were divided into 4 clusters by their quality difference. The method is reproducible, simple and reliablethat it can be used for quality control and evaluation of Resina Draconis from different manufacturers.

Traditional Chinese Drug Research & Clinical Pharmacology 1993;0(04):-
Objective To observe the effect of Weichangshu Capsule (WCSC) in inhibiting experimental gastric ulcer and the damage of gastric mucosa in SD rats. Methods The experimental gastric ulcer rat models were established by ligation of pylorus, water immersing method and subcutaneous injection of indometacin, and rat models with acute damage of gastric mucosa were induced by hydrochloric acid- ethanol (HAE).Then the effect of WCSC in inhibiting experimental gastric ulcer and the damage of gastric mucosa in SD rats were observed. Results WCSC had obviously inhibitory effects on stress gastric ulcer, indometacin- induced gastric ulcer and HAE- induced acute damage of gastric mucosa. WCSC also inhibited the secretion of gastric juice and increased pepsase activity. Conclusion WCSC has counteraction on experimental gastric ulcer.

Traditional Chinese Drug Research & Clinical Pharmacology 1993;0(03):-
Experimental studies showed that the water extract of rhubarb had low content of anthraquinone and a strong purgative while the alcohol extract a high content of anthraquinone and was free of purgative action, even tannin was eliminated. The purgative action of the water extract was also last when mixed with alcohol extract. The experimental results coincide with the traditional experience in Chinese medicinal theory:"the fresh Rhubarb has a purgative action while rhubarb prepared with wine can promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis."However, from the angle of anthraquinone and tannin, the explanation is unreasonable. It is indicated that the purgative action of rhubarb is greatly influenced, even disappears when prepared with alcohol. So, attention should be paid in the preparation process of Chinese patent drugs containing rhubarb.
