1.Nutrition Knowledge, Food Habit Problems and Dietary Attitudes of Nursing Students.

PURPOSE: This study investigates the relationship among nutrition knowledge, food habit problems and dietary attitudes in nursing students. METHODS: A total of 856 nursing students participated in the study. Data was analyzed by frequencies, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple stepwise regressions via SPSS WIN 21.0. RESULTS: The mean scores for nutrition knowledge and dietary attitudes were above average and the score related to food habit problems was high. Dietary attitudes correlated positively with nutrition knowledge, but dietary attitudes correlated negatively with food habit problems. Significant predictors of dietary attitudes included: food habit problems, interest in nutrition and health, exercise, and drinking. The regression model explained 16.4% of perceived dietary attitudes. CONCLUSION: To improve dietary attitudes among nursing students, nursing educators should develop nutritional educational intervention programs in order to promote nutrition knowledge and identify food habit problems.

2.Factors Influencing Meaning in Life of Nursing Students.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing meaning in life of nursing students. METHODS: This was a descriptive survey study. Data were collected using questionnaires from a sample of 210 nursing students. Data were analyzed using frequencies, means, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis with SPSS 21.0. RESULTS: The mean of the score from the meaning in life was 4.82. There were significant differences in subjects' perception of meaning in life according to school year, grade level, motivation to apply to a nursing program, and satisfaction with a nursing major. Meaning in life was significantly correlated with positive affect, subjective happiness and social support, which were significant predictors (49.1%) of meaning in life. CONCLUSION: To improve meaning in life of the nursing students, pay attention to positive affect, subjective happiness, and social support.

3.The Effects of Pressure Injury Nursing Knowledge and Pressure Injury Nursing Attitude on Pressure Injury Nursing Practices of Nurses in Geriatric Hospitals

Purpose:
This study investigated the effect of pressure injury nursing knowledge, and pressure injury nursing attitudes, on pressure injury nursing practice.
Methods:
Participants in this descriptive study were 141 nurses at 20 geriatric hospitals. Data was collected August 24, 2021- April 4, 2022, and analyzed in terms of Independent t-test and one-way ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and multiple regression, using the SPSS/WIN 27.0 program.
Results:
Pressure injury nursing practice positively correlated with pressure injury nursing attitudes (r = .44, p < .001). Factors influencing pressure injury nursing practice were pressure injury nursing attitudes (β = .43, p < .001), and gender (β = .21, p = .006). The model used in this study explains 22.8% of pressure injury nursing practice (Adjusted R 2 = 22.8, F = 11.30, p < .001).
Conclusion
Results show factors that influence pressure injury nursing practice of nurses in geriatric hospitals. Based on the results, pressure injury nursing practice programs must include factors that improve pressure injury nursing attitudes. A follow-up study to confirm the impact of developing a program for increasing pressure injury nursing practice is also recommended.
4.The Relationship among Self-Efficacy, Career Decision Making Types and Career Decision Level of Nursing Students.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to contribute to career counseling and career guidance for nursing students by examining students' career decision-making styles and career decision levels and the relationship between self-efficacy and career decision-making styles and career decision levels. METHODS: A descriptive survey design was used and data were collected using questionnaires from a sample of 469 nursing students. The data were analyzed using frequencies means, Kruskal-Wallis test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis with SPSS 21.0. RESULTS: Career decision level had a significant correlation with self-efficacy and decision-making styles. Self-efficacy (β=.143, p<.001), type of decision-making styles rational type (β=.180, p<.001), intuitive type (β=.137, p<.001), dependent type (β=-.236, p<.001) and sex (β=-.086, p=.023), school grades (β=.086, p=.033), and satisfaction of nursing major (β=.209, p<.001) were significant predictors of career decision level. Conclusion CONCLUSION: It is necessary to develop effective career support programs according to type of decision-making styles, sex, school grades, motivation to improve nursing students' self-efficacy and satisfaction in the nursing major.

5.The Relationships between Body Mass Index, Nutrition Knowledge and the Health Promotion Behavior of Nursing Students.

PURPOSE: This study was done to identify the relationships between body mass index, nutritional knowledge and the health promotion behavior of nursing students. METHODS: Participants consisted of the entire 330 members of the student body of a Korean nursing college. Variables included body mass index, nutritional knowledge and health promotion behavior as well as demographic variables. Data was analyzed by frequencies, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation with the SPSS/Win 21.0 program. RESULTS: The mean score for body mass index was 20.23 kg/m2 for nutritional knowledge, 14.27±3.07 on a total 20-point scale, and for health promotion behavior, 3.03±0.34 on a 4-point scale. Nutrition knowledge positively correlated with health promotion behavior (r=.368,p<.001). Health promotion behavior positively correlated with underweightness (r=.120, p=.005), normal weight (r=.212, p<.001), negatively correlated to overweightness (r=-.351, p<.001), and obesity (r=-.413, p<.001). Nutrition knowledge positively correlated to underweightness (r=.155, p=.005), and normal weight (r=.346, P<.001), negatively correlated to overweightness (r=-.548, p<.001), and obesity (r=-.342, p<.001). CONCLUSION: In order to enhance the effective health promotion behavior of nursing students, it is important to actively intervene to improve body weight control behavior and nutritional knowledge. Therefore, developing an educational program for improving nutritional knowledge and body weight control behavior of nursing students is recommended.

6.Trends in Nursing Research on Cancer Patients Nutrition in Korea.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to analyze the research trends of nursing researches done on cancer patients' nutrition in Korea and to make suggestions for future studies. METHODS: A total of 100 studies from 1989 to 2015 were analyzed. 22 nursing studies were selected for analysis the based on keywords 'nutrition', 'cancer' and 'patients'. RESULTS: Of 100 papers, 27 were doctoral dissertation and master's theses, 73 were from academic journals, 3 were thesis studies, and 19 were reported research in academic journal in nursing fields. Quantitative researches accounted for 92.0% while 20% among them were nursing researches, and other types of studies were 2%. The most frequently used research type was non-experimental 65.0%, while the ratio of experimental researches was 27.0%. The most frequently used research subjects were cancer patients without diagnostic classification with 37.0%. The most common issue of qualitative studies was the patient's nutrition condition. CONCLUSION: The further studies about cancer patients' nutrition condition need to be done with various approaches such as concept or tool development study, multi-disciplinary research, qualitative study and education program development study.

7.Influence of Positive Thinking and Self-esteem on School Adjustment of Freshmen in a Nursing Department

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of positive thinking and self-esteem on school adaptation among freshmen in a nursing department. METHODS: Data were collected by questionnaires from 172 nursing students in the month of December 2017. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression. RESULTS: A positive correlation was found for school adaptation with positive thinking and self-esteem. Positive thinking, self-esteem, major satisfaction and interpersonal relationships were all significant predictors of school adaptation. The model explained 43.6% of the variables. CONCLUSION: The results of this study suggest that positive thinking should be considered when developing strategies to increase school adaptation among freshmen in nursing departments.

8.The influence of e-learning digital literacy on cognitive flexibility and learning flow in nursing students

Purpose:
The purpose of this study was to identify the impact of cognitive flexibility and e-learning digital literacy on the learning flow of nursing students who had experienced e-learning.
Methods:
The research design for this study was a descriptive survey using convenience sampling. Data were collected using online questionnaires completed by 134 nursing students in A city and P city. The data were analyzed using percentages, mean values, standard deviations, Pearson‘s correlation coefficients, and multiple regression with SPSS for Windows version 22.0.
Results:
Positive correlations were found between learning flow and e-learning digital literacy (r = .43, p < .001), between learning flow and cognitive flexibility (r = .52, p < .001), and between e-learning digital literacy and cognitive flexibility (r = .65, p < .001). In the multiple regression analysis, cognitive flexibility (β = .42, p < .001) was a significant predictor that explained 27% of variance in learning flow.
Conclusion
The results of this study show that cognitive flexibility is a factor influencing learning flow in nursing students. Based on the results of the study, educational programs aiming to improve learning flow should include methods that improve cognitive flexibility.
9.The Effect of a Discharge Education Program for Readmitted Chemotherapy Patients on Compliance with Sick Role Behavior and Educational Satisfaction.

PURPOSE: This study was designed to evaluate the effects of a discharge education program for hospitalized readmitted patients with chemotherapy-in terms of sick role behavior and educational satisfaction. METHODS: The data were collected with a nonequivalent control group non-synchronized design and were analyzed with a nonequivalent control group pre-posttest design. The subjects included 49 patients with cancer, 25 in the experimental group, and 24 in the control group. Data were analyzed with spss win 21, chi2-tests, paired t-tests, and independent t-tests. RESULTS: The experimental group was educated according to their needs at discharge, and they showed higher compliance with sick role behavior. CONCLUSION: To improve compliance with sick role behavior, readmitted hematologic neoplasms chemotherapy patients should receive discharge education according to their needs at the clinic by using an educational manual.
