Objective To retrospectively analyze the prognostic factors of advanced esophageal carcinoma (EPC) with concurrent chemoradiotherapy.Methods A total of 200 advanced EPC patients between January 2008 and December 2011 were reviewed,and all of them received concurrent chemoradiotherapy,either IMRT or CRT.Among them,there were 92 and 108 patients in the IMRT and CRT group,respectively.The chemotherapy scheme was paclitaxel combined with different platinum drugs (cisplatin,nedaplatin,oxaliplatin or lobaplatin).The number of chemotherapy cycles was 2-4.Results Patients who received IMRT had a significant higher 3-year overall survival (OS) than that who received CRT (63.6 ％ vs 38.9 ％,x2 =12.102,P =0.001).Three-year OS differed no significantly between different chemotherapy regimens.There were 44.6 ％,57.5 ％,52.5 ％ and 52.5 ％ for those who received cisplatin,nedaplatin,oxaliplatin and lobaplatin,respectively (x2 =2.756,P =0.431).Patients received different cycles of chemotherapy had comparable treatment outcome,and the overall survival were 44.1％,51.6 ％ and 57.4 ％ for those who underwent 2,3 and 4 chemotherapy cycles at 3 years,without any statistical significance (x2 =2.497,P =0.287).Univariate analysis indicated that lesion length on X-ray,M stage,6th edition UICC staging and radiotherapy methods were the potential predictive factors.Multivariate analysis shown that gender,lesion length on X-ray and radiotherapy methods were the significant prognostic factors.Conclusion The significant prognostic factors for advanced EPC with concurrent chemoradiotherapy are mainly lesion length on X-ray and radiotherapy methods.

Objective To investigate the effects of low dose radiation on the level of oxidative damage and antioxidant in population of high background radiation area of Guangdong.Methods A total of 48 male residents who lived in high background radiation area(HBRA) of Guangdong province and 48 male residents who lived in neighboring Enping control area were chosen as the objectives and control respectively.The peripheral venous blood of two groups was collected,and then the levels of 8-OHdG and TrxR were determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).Results Compared with the CA group [(315.39 ± 100.59) ng/ml],the level of 8-OHdG [(272.64 ± 96.85) ng/ml] decreased significantly in HBRA (t =2.121,P ＜0.05).Compared with the CA group [(0.467 ±0.056) ng/ml],the level of TrxR [(0.496 ± 0.044) ng/ml] increased significantly in HBRA (t =-2.823,P ＜ 0.05).The results of multiple linear regression analysis demonstrated that the chronic exposure to low dose of radiation had significant effects on the expression level of 8-OHdG and TrxR (t =-2.327,2.367,P ＜ 0.05) after adjustment for confounding factors such as age,drinking,tea drinking,smoking,medical exposure and stressful events.Conclusions Chronic exposure to low dose radiation may decrease the level of oxidative and enhance the level of antioxidant.

Objective To investigate the effect of two chemotherapeutic regimens suitable for elderly ad -vanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods A total of 58 elderly advance nonsmall cell lung cancer pa-tients randomized into two group:single-agent group and combined group .Single-agent group received gemcitabine 1 000mg/m2 at Days 1 and 8 for a 21 day cycle.Combined group received gemcitabine 1 000mg/m2 at Days 1 and 8 in combination earboplatin AUC 5 at Day 2 for a 21 day cycle .All patients in the two groups received 3 cycles of chemotherapeutic regimens.Results Of the single-agent group,complete remission (CR) in 1 cases,partial remis-sion (PR) in 12 cases, the effective rate was 46.4%,and of the combined group,CR in 1 cases,PR in 13 cases,the effective rate was 50.0%,there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05).Of the single-agent group,the median survival time was 9.7 months,1-and 2-year survival rates were 31.3%,12.5%,re-spectively,and of the combined group ,the median survival time was 10.1 months,1-and 2-year survival rates were 33.8%,15.6%,respectively,there were no statistically significant difference between the two groups (χ2 =1.743, 1.529,1.739,all P>0.05).The leutropenia and thrombocytopenia incidence of 3 to 4 grade in the combined group was 50.0%,46.4%,respectively,which were significantly higher than 28.6%and 18.0%in the single-agent group (χ2 =4.41,4.69,all P<0.05).Lung Cancer Symptom Scale scores showed:after the treatment,the anorexia,fatigue and pain scores of the single-agent group improved significantly compared with pre-treatment ( t =2.687,2.789, 2.603,all P<0.05),whereas no significant improvement in the combined group;After the treatment,three symptom scores of the single-agent group were significantly higher than those of the combined group (t=2.986,3.569,2.764, all P<0.05).Conclusion Single-agent gemeitabine regimen efficacy is comparable with that of combined regimen for elderly advanced NSCLC with less adverse effects .

Objective To study the clinical and pathologic changes in gigantomast.Methods Tissue sections were prepared from 180 cases of breast hypertrophy and 45 cases of normal breast tissues.The morphological changes and the expression and localization of ERRγwere evaluated on the HE and immunohistochemistry stained sections between hypertrophy and normal breast tissues.Results Compared with normal breast,hypertrophic breast showed expended ducts and obvious hyperplasia of the duct epithelial papillary.Hypertrophic breast tissues demonstrated strong expression of ERR-γ in ducts and lobules.Conclusions Upregulated expression of ERRγ is identified in hypertrophic breast tissues that may associate with the development of gigantomastia.

Objective To evaluate the performance of an improved skin prick test in the screening for allergens.Methods A total of 475 patients with chronic urticaria who aged from 3 to 81 years were enrolled in this study,and classified into the control group (n =235) and research group (n =240).Traditional and improved skin prick test were conducted in the control and research group respectively.The allergen detection rate was compared between the two test methods.Results The allergen detection rate was 65.4％ and 67.2％ respectively for the improved and traditional skin prick test,respectively (P ＞ 0.05).House dust mites were the most common sensitizing agent.Conclusion The improved skin prick test can offer reliable evidence for chnical diagnosis with a relatively convenient and safe procedure.

Objective To evaluate the overall survival in patients with locally advanced pancreatic cancer (LAC) treated with irreversible electroporation (IRE) and chemotherapy.Methods A retrospective study on the overall survival of 30 patients with LAC treated with IRE,and 30 patients with LAC treated with chemotherapy from July 2015 to October 2016 in the PLA General Hospital was conducted.Results For the 30 patients with LAC who underwent IRE successfully,there were 21 women and 9 men.The median age was 59 (36 ～81) years.Twenty-four patients had primary pancreatic head cancer and 6 had body cancer.Twelve (40.0％) of these patients had chemotherapy after the IRE ablation.The 90-day mortality in the IRE treated patients was 3 (10.0％).For the 30 patients with LAC who were treated with chemotherapy,the 90-day mortality was 6 (20.0％).In comparison of the IRE treated patients with the chemotherapy treated patients,improvements on disease-free survival (6 months vs.4 months,P ＜ 0.05) and overall survival (11 months vs.5.6 months,P ＜ 0.05) were observed.Conclusion IRE ablation of LAC was safe and could potentially improve overall survival when compared with the standard chemotherapy treatment.

Objective To investigate the expression of NF-k B and c-myc in keratinocytes of HPV infected condyloma acuminata (CA) lesions.Methods Fifty cases of HPV 6/11 positive CA were diagnosed by in situ hybridization.The expression and distribution of NF-k B and c-myc were detected by immunohistochemistry technique (EnVision) with CA lesions and 25 normal human skins (foreskins). Results②The expression of NF-k B and c-myc was significantly higher in keratinocytes of CA lesions than those of normal controls (P＜0.01 ).NF-k B was mainly expressed in spinous layers of CA lesions, and most positive signals located significantly in the cytoplasm.C-myc was mainly expressed in the whole epidermis or in spinous and basal layers in CA lesions,and positive signals located in the nuclei.②There was a positive correlation between the expression of NF-k B and c-myc in CA lesions (r=0.89,P＜0.01).Conclusions The study demonstrates that the expression of both NF-k B and c-myc is significant- ly higher in HPV 6/11 positive CA than in normal skin.The data suggest that transcriptional factor NF-k B and c-myc may play a role in the regulation of proliferation of HPV 6/11 infected cells.

Objective To establish the quantitative methods of psoralen and apigenin in Radix Fici Hirtae. Methods The content of psoralen and apigenin in Radix fici Hirtae was determined by HPLC. The chromatographic conditions were as follows:YMC C18 column(250 mm? 4.60 mm,5 ? m),mobile phases of methanol-0.2 % phosphoric acid for gradient elution,flow rate being 1.0 mL? min-1,column temperature at 30 ℃,detection wavelength being 245 nm for psoralen and 338 nm for apigenin,and inject volume being 10 ? L. Results Psoralen showed a good linear relationship in the range of 0.083 6～ 1.045 0 ? g,r=0.999 9,the average recovery was 100.43 % and RSD % was 0.45 % . Apigenin showed a good linear relationship in the range of 0.065 6～ 0.820 0 ? g,r=0.999 9,the average recovery was 100.41 % and RSD % was 0.34 % . Conclusion The established methods are simple and rapid with good reproducibility,and can be used for the quality control of Radix fici hertae.
