This study was conducted to investigate food and meal preference of workers (435 male and 212 female) in the Chonnam Yeosu industrial area. The results of the survey were analyzed by principal components analysis. The results were obtained as follows: 19.3% of the subjects were twenties, 28.3% were thirties, 28.8% were forties and 23.7% were fifties. Females liked rice rolled in dried laver, rice cakes, janchi-noodle and breads, on the other hand males liked thick beef soup, loach soup, an eel stew and soju. The young liked instant noodles, fried chicken, sweet and sour pork, pork cutlet, pizza, hamburger, ham, sausage and fruit beverage, on the other hand the old liked a fish pot stew, loach soup, eel stew, fish boiled in soy with spices, panfried fish, sea slug, ascidian, bunder, green laver and boiled burdock-lotus root in soy. Females who are young liked hamburger and sweet and sour pork whereas males who are young liked instant noodles, pork cutlet, ham, sausage and fruit beverage. Aged females liked fish boiled in soy with spices, panfried fish, bunder, green laver, boiled burdock-lotus root in soy whereas aged males liked a fish pot stew, loach soup, eel stew, sea mussel and oysters. Boiled rice was located within the middle irrespective of age and sex, but noodles, wheat flour meal, fast foods and fruits were situated at the young female side. Aged males liked soup and pot stew. Young males liked meats and eggs whereas fish and shellfish and kimch were located at the aged people side. Aged females liked sea weeds and most people disliked vegetables but females liked some vegetables irrespective of age. Processed foods, salted foods, and alcohol were generally disliked foods by subjects but males liked those foods. Soybean curd was liked more males than females, and teas, except coffee, was liked by males.

BACKGROUND: In Asian countries, patients with a square-shaped lower face want a narrow chin as well as improvements in the mandibular angle contour, which is called a "V-line shape." Currently, various surgical techniques have been developed for mandibuloplasty. METHODS: We have developed an extended, long, curved ostectomy, which starts from the inferior mandibular margin below the lateral incisor to the angle, using reciprocating and oscillating saws. We also used a small round bur to grind the outer cortex of the chin and ramus. A total of 243 patients were included in this study from 2012 to 2014. RESULTS: To analyze aesthetic outcomes, we compared mandibular angles and gonial-gonial (G-G) distances on preoperative three-dimensional computed tomography scans with postoperative images. Mandibular measurements demonstrated significant increments in angle degrees on the right (115.2degrees+/-11.1 vs 129.3degrees+/-11.5, P<0.05) and left sides (112.2degrees+/-10.2 vs 130.4degrees+/-11.3, P<0.05). The G-G distance was reduced postoperatively from 123.7 mm+/-7.9 to 110.0 mm+/-3.5 (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: In this study, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our technique and assume that we can improve frontal shape and lateral contour with its use.

Dyskeratosis Congenita*

PURPOSE: We assessed the impact of treatment modalities, such as radical prostatectomy or external beam radiation therapy, for prostate cancer on the health related quality of life (HRQoL) and sexual function of patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 137 eligible patients, with localized or locally advanced prostate cancer, were enrolled from two treatment groups: radical prostatectomy (RP) and external beam radiation therapy (EBRT). To compare changes in the HRQoL and sexual function after treatment with these two modalities, an interview or postal survey was performed for the patients that were followed up at least 12 months after treatment. Finally, 57 patients (RP 34 and EBRT 23) were eligible to remain on the study. Standardized questionnaires, including the EORTC QLQ-C30 (version 3.0) and QLQ-PR25, for evaluation of HRQoL, and the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF), for sexual function, were employed. RESULTS: On global health status and functional scales, the progression in the mean scores between the baseline and treatment were worse in the PR group. The PR group also had worse urinary incontinence, erection and ejaculation problems than the EBRT group. EBRT was associated with adverse bowel function. The IIEF demonstrated significant changes between the baseline and post-treatment scores across all five domains with the two treatment modalities, especially with a RP. CONCLUSIONS: The majority of prostate cancer patients were unable to return to functional sexual activity after both a RP and EBRT. The assignment of patients to the two treatment modalities entails different risks of urinary leakage and bowel dysfunction. These findings will help facilitate counseling, with regard to sexual function and HRQoL expectations, for prostate cancer patients.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the effectiveness of percutaneous catheter drainage in treatment of the lung abscess. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We treated the lung abscesses in 14 patients(12 men, 2 women), who did not respond to medical therapy, by percutaneous catheter drainage under fiuoroscopic or ultrasound guidance. One abscess due to infacted bulla was managed by combination treatment with alcohol sclerosing therapy. Patients were followed by serial chest radiographs every three days and the amount of drained or aspirated pus evaluated. The treatment effect and recurrence were followed by chest PA and lateral chest at one week after removal of drainage catheter. RESULTS: Thirteen patients(93%) recovered clinically and radiologically within 3 days. In 10 patients, drainage catheter could be removed within 2 weeks, and three patients, the catheter was keept longer. Most complications were mild ;vague to moderate chest pain(n=14), mild hemoptysis(n=2), and pneumothorax(n=I). One man who suffered from far advanced pulmonary tuberculosis died of asphyxia caused by massive hemoptysis 16 days after percutaneous drainage. CONCLUSION: Percutaneous catheter drainage is a safe and effective method for treating lung abscess.

PURPOSE: To determine the frequency of complications and diagnostic accuracy of CT-guided percutaneous automated gun biopsy, and to compare the results with those reported for fine needle aspiration. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Using automated biopsy devices, 118 CT-guided percutaneous biopsies of pulmonary lesions were performed. An 18-gauge needle was used. Final diagnosis was made with operation or other methods. We retrospectively analyzed the frequency of complications and diagnostic yields of 118 biopsies. RESULT: Four of 118(3.3%) patients developed pneumothorax and two of these required chest tube insertion. Other complications were resolved spontaneously. 106 biopsies (89.8%) yielded sufficient tissue for pathologic evaluation. For cases of malignant and of benign disease, sensitivity was 91.8% and 87.7% respectively ; the corresponding figures for diagnostic accuracy were 88.5% and 78.9%. CONCLUSION: CT-guided automated gun biopsy of the pulmonary lesions is safe, witha pneumothorax rate comparable to that of fine needle aspiration. In the absence of a trained cytologist at the time of biopsy, the diagnostic accuracy of automated gun biopsy of pulmonary lesions compared favorably with the reported accuracy of fine needle aspiration.

PURPOSE: Conventional contrast dacryocystography(C-DCG) has been used mainly for anatomical assessment of the lacrimal drainage apparatus, due to its limited information on the dynamics of the lacrimal system, and thus correlation role in epiphora. The purpose of study was to improve the diagnostic value in epiphora by utilizing RI dacryocystography(RI-DCG) with quantitative criteria. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The patient for RI dacryocystography set erect with the head fixed in front of gamma camera fitted with a standard 6 mm pinhole collimater. Both eyes of 85 patients(170 eyes) were scanned with 99rnTc-pertechnetate followed by conventional dacryocystography. The data from gamma camera were recorded simultaneously on a computer system for subsequent quantitative analysis. RESULTS: In 94 of 96 eyes without epiphora, RI-DCG was correlated with normal C-DCG and % of emptying was at least over 50%. In 58 of 74 eyes with epiphora, RI-DCG was correlated with abnormal C-DCG and % of emptying was at most below 50%. In 16 eyes with functional block, quantitative RI-DCG showed abnormal % of emptying. CONCLUSION: Nuclear DCG with quantitation had higher diagnostic yield in functional block and correlated higher with epiphora. Thus nuclear DCG with quantitation would be a valuable functional test after postprocedures such as dacryocystoplasty.
