ObjectiveTo evaluate the clinical efficiency of 0.1％ tacrolimus ointment combined with paroxetine in patients with neurodermatitis associated with insomnia.MethodsTotally,74 patients suffering from neurodermatitis and insomnia were consecutively enrolled in this study,and randomly assigned into the combination group and control group according to their number(odd or even).Both groups were given topical 0.1％ tacrolimus ointment twice a day,and the combination group was additionally given oral paroxetine 10 mg once a day,for 8 weeks.The outcome parameters included main symptoms of neurodermatitis and Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI) score.ResultsNo significant difference was observed in the cure rate (54.3％(19/35) vs.53.1％ (17/32),P＞ 0.05) or response rate (82.9％ (29/35) vs.81.3％ (26/32),P＞ 0.05),between the combination group and control group.PSQI score was significantly lower in the combination group than in the control group after 8 weeks of treatment(P ＜ 0.05).ConclusionsThe 0.1％ tacrolimus ointment can be used to treat neurodermatitis safely.Antianxiety treatment can reduce the recurrence of neurodermatitis associated with insomnia,and improve the quality of sleep in patients.

Selenium, a metalloid mineral micronutrient,is an essential component for the adequate and healthy life of human, animals, and some other microorganisms.Selenium has antioxidative and oxidative effects on living organisms.Selenium deficiency has been associated with impaired function of the immune system.Selenium deficiency appears to enhance the virulence or progression of some viral infections.Selenium deficiency results in decreased activity of glutathione peroxidase, increasing oxidative damage and the likelihood of mutations in the viral genome.The safe range of selenium intake is relatively small and excess selenium intake can readily result in toxicity.This review summarizes the updates of benefitial and adverse effects of selenium on health.

Objective To observe the regulation of sry-related high-mobility-group box-containing 2 (Sox2) on epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)and on the sphere formation rate of glioma stem cells .Methods Promoter reporter plasmids of epidermal growth factor homologous receptor ErbB2 ,ErbB3 ,ErbB4 were respectively constructed .Sox2 expression plasmid was co-transfected together with the reporter plasmid into U251 cells .Then the luciferase activity was analyzed by dual-luciferase reporter assay sys-tem to test the regulation of Sox2 on ErbB2 ,ErbB3 ,ErbB4 promoters .Sphere formation assay was used to observe selfrenew of the cancer stem cells after transfection of Sox 2 .The expression of EGFR and ErbB2 proteins in the spheres was examined by Western blot .Results Sox2 could dose-dependently increase the ErbB2 ,ErbB3 ,ErbB4 promoter drived luciferase activity .Sox2 promotes the sphere-forming rate of U251 cells and upregulates the expression of EGFR and ErbB2 in the spheres .Conclusion Sox2 could up-regulate the expression of EGFR and promote selfrenew of glioma stem cells .

Background Intermittent exotropia is a type of strabismus that between latent extropia and manifest extropia.The assessment of fusional convergence/divergence is important for understanding control ability of exodeviation in children with intermittent exotropia.Objective This study was to analyze the correlations between fusional convergence/divergence and control ability of exodeviation in children with intermittent exotropia.Methods Sixty-three children with intermittent exotropia were recruited in Beijing Tongren Eye Centre from July 2013 to February 2014 under the informed consent of children and their parents.Angle of deviation was measured by wearing prism and covering method alternately.The control ability of exodeviation was evaluated and scored by the Revised Newcastle Control Score (RNCS),and fusional convergence and divergence were measured with 1 Δ-40Δ horizonal prisms and regulating targets.The correlations between the measured parameters of fusional convergence/divergence and control scores of exotropia were analyzed by Spearman rank correlation analysis.Results The mean diopter of the right and left eyes was (-1.95 ± 1.63)D and (-2.01 ± 1.73)D,respectively,and the mean deviation angle for distantly and near was (36.67 ± 15.69) Δ and (38.25 ± 14.83) Δ,respectively,without significant differences between them (diopter:t =-0.13,P＞0.05;deviation angle:t =-0.57,P＞0.05).Considerably negative correlations were found between the breakpoints of fusional convergence for distant or near and control scores of exodeviation (rs =-0.41,P=0.03;rs =-0.56,P＜0.01).No significant correlations were found between the breakpoints of fusional divergence for distantly or near and control scores of exodeviation (rs =0.05,P =0.78;rs =0.04,P ＜0.75).In addtion,there was no significant correlation between fusional recovery level and control scores (both at P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions Breakpoints of fusional convergence may be useful in grading the severity of intermittent exotropia in children,and it is probably one of the surgical indications of intermittent exotropia.

ObjectiveTo investigate the change in brain functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI)during noxious electric stimu lation of forepaw and tail in rats.MethodsForty-eight healthy SD rats of both sexes weighing 300-450 g which responded sensitively to electrical stimulation as shown by Y-maze were randomly divided into 2 groups ( n =24 each) receiving nociceptive electric stimulation of left forepaw (group LF) and tail (group T) respectively.The animals were anesthetized with intraperitoneal 10％ chloral hydrate 250-300 mg/kg.Brain fMRI was performed at 30 min after disappearance of righting reflex in both groups when electric stimulations were delivered intermittently to forepaw or tail.The images were analyzed with SPM2 software.ResultsPrimary and secondary somatosensory cortex,posterior cingutate cortex,amygdaloid nucleus and ventral posterolateral thalamic nucleus were activated in group T.Right accumbens nucleus,right primary somatosensory cortex,right ventral posterolateral thalamic nucleus and right posterior cingutate cortex were activated in group LF.ConclusionDifferent brain areas are activated by noxious electric stimulation of different parts of body as shown by brain fMRI.

Duck circovirus(DuCV),a potential immunosuppressive virus,was investigated in Southern China from March 2006 to December 2009 by using a polymerase chain reaction(PCR)based method. In this study,a total of 138 sick or dead duck samples from 18 different farms were examined with an average DuCV infection rate of～35%. It was found that ducks between the ages of 40～60 days were more susceptible to DuCV. There was no evidence showing that the DuCV virus was capable of vertical transmission. Farms with positive PCR results exhibited no regularly apparent clinical abnormalities such as feathering disorders,growth retardation or lower-than-average weight. The complete genomes of 9. strains from Fujian Province and 1 from Zhejiang Province were sequenced and analyzed. The 10 DuCV genomes,compared with others genomes downloaded from GenBank,ranged in size from 1988 to 1996 base pairs,with sequence identities ranging from 83.2% to 99.8%. Phylogenetic analysis based on genome sequences demonstrated that DuCVs can be divided into two distinct genetic genotypes,Group I(the Euro-USA lineage)and Group II(the Taiwan lineage),with approximately 10.0% genetic difference between the two types. Molecular epidemiological data suggest there is no obvious difference among DuCV strains isolated from different geographic locations or different species,including Duck,Muscovy duck,Mule duck,Cheery duck,Mulard duck and Pekin duck.

Objective To evaluate the value of low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) and non-high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (non-HDL-C) in differential diagnosis of familial hypertriglyceridemia (FHTG) and familial combined hyperlipidemia (FCHL).Methods We recruited 9 FHTG pedigrees (94 subjects) and 24 FCHL pedigrees (94 subjects) and then divided them into affected groups and non-affected groups according to lipid abnormality.Another 10 normal control pedigrees (57 subjects) served as controls.We compared the routine lipid levels such as triglyceride (TAG),total cholesterol (TC),HDL-C and LDL-C and non-HDL-C between the groups.After stratification based on TAG level,we observed the relationship between LDL-C and non-HDL-C.Last we confirmed and analyzed the cut-off value of differential diagnosis between FHTG and FCHL with receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve.Results The levels of TAG,TC,and non-HDL-C were significantly higher in the affected group of FHTG than in the non-affected group of FHTG and the normal group (P＜0.01 or P＜0.05).The levels of TAG,TC,HDL-C,LDL-C and non-tHDL-C wcrc significantly higher in the affected group of FCHL than in the non-affected group of FCHL and the normal group (P＜0.01 or P＜0.05).The levels of TAG were significantly higher (P＜0.01) while TC,HDL-C,LDL-C and non-HDL-C levels were significantly lower (P＜ 0.01 or P＜0.05) in the affected group of FHTG than in the affected group of FCHL.The association between LDL-C and non-HDL-C was positive both in FHTG and FCHL,but the relationship became weaker as TAG level increased.The cut-off value of LDL-C and non-HDL-C was 3.575 mmol/L and 4.525 mmol/L,respectively.Conclusion In addition to the routinely used lipid indexes,non-HDL-C may be a new index for differential diagnosis of FHTG and FCHL,and may be superior to LDL-C in this regard.

Objective: To investigate the status of electronic cigarette use among adolescents in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and to provide evidence for tobacco control in adolescents. Methods: Based on the 2019 National Youth Tobacco Epidemic Monitoring Program, multistage proportional sampling method was used to select middle school students from Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. A questionnaire revised by Chinese CDC was used to collect the general information, the cognition and use of electronic cigarettes, and the access to advertising of electronic cigarettes and related products. Results: Totally 9 019 questionnaires were distributed, 8 401 valid ones were recovered, and the response rate was 93.2%. The rates of electronic cigarette use and attempt among students were 4.3% and 13.4%. The rates of electronic cigarette use and attempt in male students were 7.7% and 22.9%, which were higher than that in female students (0.8% and 3.8%, P<0.05) . The rates of electronic cigarette use and attempt varied in different schools ( P<0.05 ), which were higher in vocational high school students ( 11.5% and 26.8% ). Among 246 students who used electronic cigarettes, 30.1% did not thought electronic cigarettes contained nicotine, while 60.2% did not know whether electronic cigarettes contain nicotine. In the past 30 days, 27.0% of the students had seen the advertisements of electronic cigarettes and related products, mainly through TV, store, supermarket, convenience store, grocery store, electronic cigarette experience store or retail store. Conclusions The rates of electronic cigarette use and attempt among adolescents in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region are 4.3% and 13.4%. Boys and vocational high school students have higher rates. Students generally know electronic cigarette and have more access to it.

WHO quality-of-life scales (WHOQOL-BREF) and Eysenck personality questionnaire (EPQ) were used for evaluating the quality-of-life and personality characteristics of 60 outpatients with chronic urticaria.According to statistical correlation analysis, a positive correlation existed between education level and psychological field (P ＜ 0.05).And there were negative correlations between N scale, P scale and psychological field (P ＜ 0.05, P ＜ 0.01).The incidence and incurability of chronic urticaria was more correlated with anxiety and depression.The patients with chronic urticaria were more likely to have a worse quality-of-life than normal population.

Objective To evaluate the effect of sedation with midazolam combined with propofol on delirium in mechanically ventilated patients in the intensive care unit (ICU).Methods Five hundred and twenty-two patients who required sedation and analgesia,endotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation used to assist respiration,aged 28-64 yr,weighing 41-82 kg,were randomized into 2 groups according to the sedation protocols during therapy:sedation with midazolam group (group M,n =240) and sedation with midazolam + propofol group (group MP,n=232).In M and MP groups,sedation was induced with midazolam infusion 0.03-0.17 mg/min,and analgesia was induced with sufentanil infusion 0.07-0.14 μg/min.In group MP,when hemodynamics was stable,pressure support was 8-10 cmH2O,tidal volume＞400 ml,RR ＜25 bpm,and FiO2＜45％,sedation was induced with propofol infusion 0.8-2.0 mg/min instead,lasting for 12-24 h.Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale score was maintained at-1 to-2 during vcntilation.The development and duration of delirium were recorded.Delirium was divided into hyperactive delirium,hypoactive delirium and mixed delirium 3 subtypes,and the development and duration of the 3 subtypes of delirium were also recorded.Results There was no significant difference between the two groups in the incidence and duration of delirium.Compared to group M,the incidence of hyperactive delirium was significantly decreased,and no significant change was found in the incidence of hypoactive delirium and mixed delirium and the duration of the 3 subtypes of delirium in group MP.Conclusion Sedation with midazolam and propofol can decrease the development of hyperactive delirium,but can not shorten the duration of delirium in mechanically ventilated patients in the ICU.
