This study is based on the result of oral examination of 'A' airliner employees in the period of June 1997 and December 1997. The purpose of this study is to analyze the distribution of dental diseases among workers and the relationship between income level and dental healthiness. Based on the above analysis, this study further tries to indirectly evaluate the method of prophylaxis. Following is the list of basic findings of this study: Firstly, it was found that male workers tend to have inferior dental condition compared with female workers. Also, dental condition of technicians was found to be worse than that of office workers. Secondly, it was found that dental caries decreased with the age. However, periodontal disease was increasing with the age. Therefore, this result leads us to convince that the education should be focused on 'how to brush your teeth' in order to prevent periodontal diseases. Thirdly, more than 40% of the examined were found to be carrying dental calculus related diseases (67.2%) and cervical abrasion (40.5%), respectively. In conclusion, we became to know that the treatment of cervical abrasion and dental calculus at the Dental Clinic is effective in helping 'A' Airliner employees to have better dental status.

2.Dental caries and congenital cleft lip, cleft palate of 6-12 year old age children treated at the odonto-maxillo-facial department of Hue Central hospital in the years 1999-2004
Journal of Practical Medicine 2004;481(6):76-78
The DEVIEMED programme (Joint programme of Vietnam and Germay) realization showed the state of caries among 210 children aged 6-12 years old with congenital defect of palatine clef and hare-lip treated at Hue Central Hospital in 1999-2004 year period. The prevalence of caries in children with palatine clef and hare lip was 70.5%, prevalence of los teeth 18.4%, of stoped teeth 6.2%. The detection, management dental congenital defect and the dental care services needed to improve at all levels.

4.Dental Pathologies in the Three Kingdoms Period Population from Imdang Site, Gyeongsan, Korea.
Korean Journal of Physical Anthropology 2016;29(1):9-17
Dental pathology has the potential to provide insight into the interpretation of the health and life style of past population. In particular, dental pathologies are strongly correlated to subsistence pattern, diet habits and food-preparation techniques. For this reason, my studies have focused on analyses of dental diseases (e.g., caries, abscesses, ante-mortem tooth loss, enamel hypoplasia, dental attrition, and periodontal diseases). The purpose of this study is to investigate the prevalence of dental pathologies of the Imdang population dating to between A.D. 3rd and A.D. 7th centuries (Three Kingdoms Period). In this study, through a macroscopic observation of dental remains from 138 individuals of the Imdang site, the prevalence of caries, abscess and ante-mortem tooth loss was examined. The association between sex, age and the frequencies of pathology was analyzed by the Chi-square tests. The results showed that the frequency of dental pathologies was consistently low level in Imdang population. Caries prevalence in the Imdang population was higher in females (6.15%) that in males (4.89). Among dental pathologies, abscess prevalence (0.7%) was lowest in Imdang population. Meanwhile, AMTL prevalence was 10.81% in males and 3.8% in females. There is a statistically significant difference between the anterior teeth of males and females (p<0.05). This study revealed that the rate of dental caries, abscess and AMTL in the Three Kingdoms Period population was relatively low level. This study is the first report of the patterns of dental pathologies in the Three Kingdoms Period population. It is necessary to investigate more number of pathologic markers that needed for deeper understanding of the multi-faceted nature of dental pathologies of ancient populations.

basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBCCS) is inherited as an autosomal dominant trait with variable conditions, including multiple basal cell carcinoma, numerous keratocystic odontogenic tumors (KOTs) in the jaws, ectopic calcification of the falx cerebri, bifid ribs, macrocephaly, kyphoscoliosis, cleft palate, frontal and temporal bossing, mild ocular hypertelorism, mild mandibular prognathism, vertebral fusion, and so on. A 16-year-old boy visited the Dong-A University Medical Center, requiring diagnosis and treatment of multiple cystic lesions. He presented with many conditions related to NBCCS, including multiple KOTs, bifid rib, cleft lip, frontal bossing, mild ocular hypertelorism, and mild mandibular prognathism. No characteristic cutaneous manifestations (nevoid basal cell carcinoma) were observed in this patient. We report on a case of multiple KOTs associated with NBCCS with a review of the literature.]]>

Archives of Plastic Surgery 2016;43(6):582-585
It is uncommon for a palatal fistula to be detected in individuals who have not undergone surgery, and only sporadic cases have been reported. It is even more difficult to find cases of acquired palatal fistula in patients with submucous or incomplete cleft palate. Herein, we present 2 rare cases of this phenomenon. Case 1 was a patient with submucous cleft palate who acquired a palatal fistula after suffering from oral candidiasis at the age of 5 months. Case 2 was a patient with incomplete cleft palate who spontaneously, without trauma or infection, presented with a palatal fistula at the age of 9 months.

In recent years our research team introduced many foreign patterns to our clinics, kept innovating and exploiting more reasonable modes and methods to cure the cleft patients in the situation of a developing country. Now we concluded the treatment principles, patterns and techniques of the sequential therapy according to the different temporal stages of cleft, from its arising to the evolution, evaluated our therapy results and induced a preliminary guide line of our treating clefts. We sincerely hope this rule could promote the general progress in both clinical treatment and researching.

West China Journal of Stomatology 2013;31(3):283-285
OBJECTIVETo explore the secondary correction demand rule for unilateral cleft lip patients.
METHODSThe population in parts of Henan province were investigated by census method. The unilateral cleft lip patients underwent the primary correction were selected and be photographed, and 100 patients were selected randomly into study. The subjective satisfaction for the patients' facial appearance was evaluated by three groups: Professional group(cleft lip and palate specialist), non-professional group (the hospital administrative staff), and family members of patients group. The facial symmetry rate was measured for the patients with consistent subjective evaluation.
RESULTSThe rate of facial symmetry and subjective evaluation was not convergence. The subjective evaluation disaffect rates of profes-sional and non-professional groups were higher than that in family members of patients group (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe rate of facial symmetry is not the most suitable method to evaluate the demand of the secondary correction for unilateral cleft lip patients.
