1.A Study on the Recognition and Performance of Nursing Students' Hand Washing.
Korean Journal of Nosocomial Infection Control 2008;13(2):97-104
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study is to inquire into the recognition and performance of nursing students' hand washing and propose basic data for upright recognition and performance as reserve nurses. METHODS: A survey was carried out from September 1 to September 14, 2008 by first distributing questionnaires to 550 nursing collage students attending three-year-course or four-year-course colleges in Daegu. Of all the questionnaires later collected, only the copies received from the students, who were in their last year of college(416 copies), were used for analysis. RESULTS: The recognition and performance of their hand washing averaged 3.49 and 4.08 points, respectively, showing that the level of recognition was higher than that of performance. In addition, the four-year-course nursing college students showed higher recognition level compared to the three-year-course nursing college students. However, the result was vice versa for the performance level. CONCLUSION: It is necessary for nursing students, as reserve nurses, to receive an education to improve the recognition and performing level of hand washing.

Korean Journal of Occupational Health Nursing 2013;22(3):257-265
PURPOSE: This study aimed to investigate the job stress level of call center workers and figure out its relation with cognitive emotion regulation strategies as a cognitive coping strategy. METHODS: Data collection was conducted on 985 call center workers, working for K companies in Korea. ANOVA, t-test, Scheffe's test and multiple regression have been conducted for the data analysis using SAS 9.0 software. RESULTS: The total job stress score of subjects ranges Q25~49 (the lower 50%) whereas the score of job demand and job control ranges Q50~74 (the upper 50%), and its sectional job stress level is high. Since job stress is the major factor affecting cognitive emotion regulation strategies, it is shown that when the job stress score gets higher, the score of positive cognitive emotion regulation strategies gets decreased but the score of negative cognitive emotion regulation strategies, increased. CONCLUSION: Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop and apply an effective stress easing method for call center workers which reduces negative cognitive emotion regulation strategies and increases positive ones.

Korean Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy 1992;12(1):87-90
Spontaneous perforation of bile duct in adults is very rare, with less than 30 cases described in the literature to date. We repoit a case of a 65-year-old man who presented with severe colicky abdominal pain and fever, just like symptoms of peritonitis. ERCP provided a preoperative noninvasive confirmation of the diagnosis of the rupture of right intrahepatic duct. The patient was performed T-tube choledochotomy and drainage of retroperitoneal bile collection. The etiolgy, diagnosis, and treatment of spontaneous perforation of bile duct is discussed.

Korean Journal of Community Nutrition 2010;15(3):342-350
This study investigates differences in middle school male students' anthropometric variables and dietary habits using BMI (Body Mass Index) classifications. chi-square-test for frequency and ANOVA test for mean value and duncan value were used to analyze results. Averaged results of three groups of middle school male students' anthropometry including height (normal group 164.4 cm, overweight group 165.0 cm, obese group 167.0 cm), weight (normal group 56.0 kg, overweight group 70.0 kg, obese group 83.2 kg) and waist circumference (normal group 20.7 cm, overweight group 79.8 cm, overweight group 89.6 cm) were resulted. Classification of obese group was based upon 2007 growth charts using BMI criteria. This study indicates the normal weight group boys have over-eating related dietary habits and the obese groups have less calorie dietary habits. They answered oppositely to normal recognition. The obese group reflected dietary problems, such as preferences for sweet fruit rather than normal group males. Dinnertime of the groups were significantly different and obese group's earlier dinnertime can influence on their late night snack eating. Forty precent of obese male group like fruits as late night eating food. Three meal amount of three groups were significantly different, as obese group answered they ate same amount at every meal. It can mean obese group ate more amount of food in every meal. Overweight and obese male students have dietary problem of fast eating and answers of unbalanced eating were higher in normal group. These could mean obese group eats well in every food and fast eating habit could lead a lot of food eating habit. Obese group chooses out-going food of less calorie and frequency of fast food eating was lower than normal group. In result, obese group answered that they have less calorie related dietary habits, it could mean their answers were false or fixed dietary habit. Therefore, more researches should be followed.

7.A Comparison of Stressors and Coping Behaviors of the High School Students who have Suicidal Ideation vs those who do not.
Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing 2002;32(2):254-264
PURPOSE: This study was conducted to identify and compare the stressors and coping behaviors of high school students who experienced suicidal ideation vs those who do not. METHOD: The data were collected from 1,441 high school students living in the middle region of Korea. Researchers collected the data using Adolescent Stress Inventory and Adolescent Coping questionnare from February to May of 1999. Data were analyzed using X2, T-test. RESULT: A significant proportion (31.9%) of subjects had thought about suicide during the past 6 months, 297 girls (35.3%) and 163 boys (27.2%). Major stressors of subjects who experienced suicidal ideation were academic problems, conflicts between family members, and changes in sleeping or eating patterns. Conflicts with family members contributed to have suicidal ideation. There was no significant difference in helpful coping behaviors between the two groups. The group who experienced suicidal ideation had lower scores and fewer coping behaviors. Boys perceived more stressors and had fewer helpful coping behaviors than girls. CONCLUSION: It is necessary to develope school-based suicide prevention programs. Our findings suggest that the program should focus on problems related to studying and conflicts within the family.

Neutrophils are important effector cells against protozoan extracellular parasite Entamoeba histolytica, which causes amoebic colitis and liver abscess in human beings. Apoptotic cell death of neutrophils is an important event in the resolution of inflammation and parasite's survival in vivo. This study was undertaken to investigate the ultrastructural aspects of apoptotic cells during neutrophil death triggered by Entamoeba histolytica. Isolated human neutrophils from the peripheral blood were incubated with or without live trophozoites of E. histolytica and examined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Neutrophils incubated with E. histolytica were observed to show apoptotic characteristics, such as compaction of the nuclear chromatin and swelling of the nuclear envelop. In contrast, neutrophils incubated in the absence of the amoeba had many protrusions of irregular cell surfaces and heterogenous nuclear chromatin. Therefore, it is suggested that Entamoeba-induced neutrophil apoptosis contribute to prevent unwanted tissue inflammation and damage in the amoeba-invaded lesions in vivo.

Korean Journal of Anesthesiology 1985;18(2):156-160
This study was undertaken to investigate the effect of subparalytic doses of pancuronium on the its onset time of action during induction before endotracheal intubation. The patients were composed of 20 healthy female and 20 male adults which were ASA class l and ll. At the time of intubation, the control group received a pancuronium 0.08mg/kg as a single bolus after a 2.5% thiopental sodium 5mg/kg injection, and the pretreatment group received subparalytic dose of pancuronium 0.015mg/kg before the thiopental sodium injection and then followed by pancuronium 0.08mg/kg 3 minutes later. The degree of neuromuscular transmission was measured using the train of four stimulation of the ulnar nerve repeated every 20 seconds, and the time was measured when the 1st twitch height(T1) was changed to 85%, 75%, 50% and 25%. The results were as follows; the onset time of neuromuscular blocking action was quicker in female patients than in male patients, and was significantly more rapid in both sexes in the pretreated group by 23.3 to 63.8% compared to the control group.
