Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing 2005;35(5):943-954
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identity the effects of a health promotion program for rural elderly on health promotion lifestyle and health status. METHOD: The study was a nonequivalent control group pre-post experimental design. Data collection was performed from April 12th, 2003 to August 2nd, 2003. The subjects were selected at Mari Myun Geochang Gun in Korea. 44 elders were in the experimental group and 45 elders were in the control group. The 16-week health promotion program was given to the experimental group. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, chi2-test, t-test, and ANCOVA test with SPSS/Win 10.0 program. RESULT: The experimental group showed higher scores of a health promotion lifestyle and perceived health status than the control group. In addition, systolic BP, heart rate, body fat and glucose of the experimental group were lower than the control group. Waist flexibility, left hand grip power, back strength and leg strength of the experimental group were higher than the control group. However, there were no significant differences in diastolic BP, total cholesterol and right hand grip power between the two groups. CONCLUSION: This health promotion program for rural elderly can be recommended as an effective nursing intervention in rural communities.

Annals of Dermatology 1996;8(3):211-214
A 45-year-old woman presented with a generalized fixed drug eruption due to mefenamic acid, characterized by recurring erythematous patches with central bullae on the same sites of the whole body and leaving hyperpigmentation after each attack. Patch testing of a quiescent lesion with 50% mefenamic acid in vaselin revealed an eczematous reaction after 48 hours. The disease course was mild compared to the severe clinical manifestation. We here-in report a case of generalized fixed drug eruption due to mefenamic acid which is considered a rare occurrence.

Annals of Dermatology 1998;10(1):1-5
BACKGROUND: Herpes zoster with generalized varicelliform eruptions occurs in 2 to 10% of patients with herpes zoster. It occurs mainly in old or debilitated persons especially those who have immunologic defects such as lymphoproliferative diseases, AIDS, or recipients of immunosuppressive therapy. The reported incidence of herpes zoster with generalized varicelliform eruptions is variable. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to elucidate the incidence and clinical features of herpes zoster with generalized varicelliform eruptions. METHODS: We reviewed the clinical data of 962 patients with herpes zoster by retrospective methods. The annual incidence, age, sex, seasonal variation, predilection sites, and associated conditions of herpes zoster with generalized varicelliform eruptions were analyzed from January 1990 to December 1996 (7 years). RESULTS: 1. Among 962 patients, 8 patients with herpes zoster revealed generalixed varicelliform eruptions (0.83%). 2. The age ranged from 20 to 85 and the majority of cases occurred in the 6th decade. There were 4 females and 4 males. 3. Past histories of malignancy were observed in 2 patients. However, there were no signs of malignancy at the time of diagnosis of herpes zoster with generalized varicelliform eruptions. 4. The most common site of initial lesion was the thoracic dermatome, followed by the lumbar and the cervical ones. CONCLUSION: From our observation, it is suggested that herpes zoster with generalized varicelliform eruptions may occur in patients without underlying malignancy or immunosuppressive disorders. Sudden incidental uprising of herpes zoster with generalized varicelliform eruptions was observed in 1996.

Korean Journal of Community Nutrition 2008;13(2):228-236
This study was carried out to investigate the Korean rice cake cognition and consumption patterns classified by age in Busan. The survey was conducted from November 21 to December 26, 2007 by questionnaires and data were analyzed by SPSS program. The results are summarized as follows: Forty one point two percent of the elementary school group, 29.0% of the high school group, 35.0% of 2,30's, 44.5% of 4,50's and 39.5% of over 60's took Korean rice cake once or twice per month. Sixty two point eight percent of elementary group, 44.0% of the high school group, 43.0% of 2,30's, 42.5% of 4,50's and 49.5% of over 60's preferred Korean rice cake. The most important basis for selecting rice cake was 'taste' in all of the subjects. The improvements for rice cake were indicated as taste, preservation and packing. As their age decreased, the score of preference for Gaepiduk, Danja, Dootupduk, Bookumi, Soemuriduk, Julpyun, Jorangi and Jungpyun were decreased. Songpyun, Garaeduk, Injulmi, Siruduk and Moojigaeduk were highly recognized as Korean rice cakes. There was a significant positive correlation between preference of rice cake and age, sex, obesity and recognition degree (p < 0.01). Therefore the understanding of the requirements of the subjects according to age and sex is needed to encourage them to choose Korean rice cake.

6.An Analysis of Cancer Symptoms, Perceived Health Status, and Given Nursing Services for Community Dwelling Cancer Patients who are Registered in a Public Health Center.
Journal of Korean Oncology Nursing 2010;10(1):48-58
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to analyze cancer symptoms, perceived health status, and nursing services for community dwelling cancer patients who are registered in a public health center. METHODS: The subject of the study were 561 community dwelling, and home-based cancer patients who were registered in 8 different public health centers in Daegu, Korea. The data collection was performed from September 28 to October 10, 2009. Analysis of data was done by using descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA with SPSS program. RESULTS: The mean score of cancer symptom index was 1.63. The level of fatigue was the highest in cancer symptom index. The mean score of perceived health status was 6.92. The exercise guidance was identified as the most frequently practiced nursing service. The scores of cancer symptom index were significantly different by economic status, marital status, living condition, the status of cancer, and metastasis. The scores of perceived health status was significantly different by education, economic status, type of social insurance, time of cancer diagnosis, status of cancer, and metastasis. CONCLUSION: The above findings indicate that it is necessary to develop a special nursing intervention differentiated according to the time points of cancer diagnosis, status of cancer. In addition, nurses should apply it in their practice to ameliorate fatigue for community dwelling cancer patients who are registered in public health center.

Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing Administration 2014;20(1):117-127
PURPOSE: In order to provide a systematic and standardized treatment course for MVD patients, a critical pathway (CP) program was developed and the results of its long term application were analyzed. METHODS: This was a methodological study. The CP was established and applied to 75 (step I) and 1,216 (step II). Another group of 56 with similar features was used as a control group. RESULTS: The application of CP turned out to be useful in many regards: the rate of hearing loss was reduced from 1.8% to 0% (step I) and 0.5% (step II), and low cranial nerve palsy was reduced from 1.8% to 1.3% and 0.7%, respectively. The length of hospitalization decreased by 2.56 days (25.2%) for step I and 3.05 days (30.0%) for step II. Days of ICU stay were reduced by 7.9% and 1.8%. The total cost per patient was reduced by 14.8% (step I). The cost per day was increased by 13.7% and 52.4%. An increase in the patient satisfaction index was noted, as shown in the ICU information guide (p=.002). CONCLUSION: The development and application of CP was found to improve the quality of medical treatment and the efficacy of hospital management in MVD patients. Well organized and efficient system and multidisciplinary teamwork are the key component of the successful application of CP.

Asian Oncology Nursing 2017;17(2):79-86
PURPOSE: This study was a descriptive study to compare symptoms, depression and the quality of life according to stages of survivorship in lung cancer patients. METHODS: Data were collected from April 1st to September 30th 2016. The subjects of this study were 135 lung cancer patients who were outpatients or inpatients at a university hospital. The instruments used were the MDASI-LC (M.D. Anderson Symptom Inventory-Lung Cancer), the Korean CES-D (Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression) and FACT-L (Functional Assessment Cancer Therapy-Lung) version 4. RESULTS: Insensibility/numbness (F=-2.42, p=.016) and trouble walking (F=-2.21, p=.029) symptom scores were significantly higher in the acute survival stage (less than 2 years) than the overextended survival stage (more than 2 years). But there was no significant differences in depression and quality of life between survival stages in lung cancer patients. CONCLUSION: Lung cancer patients of more than 2 survival years should be managed for relief symptoms such as insensibility/numbness and trouble walking cautiously.
