Korean Journal of Occupational Health Nursing 2013;22(3):208-217
PURPOSE: This study is a correlative study to assess the relationships of fatigue, stress, and burnout among the pregnant nurses in hospital. METHODS: The subjects in this study were 103 nurses aged between 22 and 40 who were confirmed as pregnant by the OBGY (Obstetrics and Gynecology) hospital and working at medical facilities located in J-province of G city during the period of July 15 through September 15, 2010. RESULTS: The level of fatigue of pregnant nurses showed an average of 5.60 out of 10 points, and the level of stress showed an average of 25.91. In terms of burnout, the average was 2.72 out of 5 points. The results of the correlative study to assess relationships among fatigue, stress and burnout showed significant positive correlation between burnout and fatigue (r=.47, p<.001) and stress (r=.53, p<.001) and between stress and fatigue (r=.58, p<.001). Therefore, the results show that increased level of fatigue and stress leads to increased level of burnout. CONCLUSION: The results of the study showed that higher level of fatigue and stress led to higher level of burnout. Therefore, to minimize the burnout of pregnant nurses, many efforts are required in the hospital policy and for the strategies to reduce burnout.

Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 1998;10(3):460-468
The purpose of this is to understand the aspect of human spirituality and its general meaning to nursing practice. This conceptual analysis has been defined thus : 1) spirituality is a basic human attribute 2) spirituality gives meaning to life 3) spirituality is a relationship between the omnipotent and the supernatural. Spirituality assumes these : 1) all human beings possess a spiritual nature 2) it is the source of human power 3) it assumes mutual relationship between the individual and others 4) conviction etc. And the result of spirituality leads to : 1) petition 2) peacefulness 3) hope 4) love between the self and the surrounding others and etc. The experience of the spirituality refers to the relationship between the self, others, and with the environment as well as the relationship with God. And that positive and assertive mentality and attitude will result in a desirable spiritual relationship between the caregiver(the nurse and the receiver.

3.A Concept Analysis of Well-Being: In the Lives of Korean Elderly.
Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 1999;11(2):298-307
Well-being has been considered to be an important nursing concept. However, there is no agreement among nurse researchers as to a conceptual definition of well-being and a similar concept to well -being. Clarification of the concept, well-being in nursing, is necessary to promote communication among nurses and to efficiently apply nursing intervention. This research was designed to analyze the concept and to make a definition of well-being in the lives of Korean Elderly. The study used the concept analysis approach developed by Walker and Avant(1995), and interviews. Firstly, well-being was defined as the balance and harmony of the internal and external environments and as the pursuit of improvement. Attributes of well-being were defined as follows: 1) homeostasis 2) harmony 3) fulfilment 4) pursuit of improvement And empirical referents were followed as: 1) health status, degree of activities of daily living, 2) degree of happiness, degree of satisfaction, 3) self-efficacy, self-esteem, 4) support, interpersonal relationships, social-leisure activity, 5) economic status, 6) degree of belief, 7) space and facilities Consequently, this study has identified the definition and attributes of "well -being" and has located empirical referents through concept analysis and interviews.

4.The Comparative Study on the Quality of Life, Health Perception, Self-efficacy of Ostomates by the Fecal Control Type.
Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 1999;11(2):278-287
The study was conducted to compare the quality life (QOL), health perception and self efficacy of the ostomates by the fecal control type. The study sbjects included 128 ostomates in Pusan, Daegu, Daejon and Incheon branches of the Korean Ostomy Association. Data collection was performed for 27 day periods from September 10th to October 6th. 1988. The instruments used in this study were the OL scale developed by Bang (1991). the health perception scale developed by Ware and translated to Korean by Lee (1987), the self efficacy scale developed by Kim( 1995). The analysis of the data was done by the use of descriptive statistics. Chi-square test, ANCOVA and Pearson Correlation with the SAS program. The results of the study are summarized below. 1. Only age was a significant difference between the two groups(p=.014). 2. The ostomate-related characteristics which showed significant differences were the number of participations in the ostomate meetings each month(p=.001). the care manager(p=.017), the number of defecations(p=.001). problems with the colostomy(p=.003), the duration of the ostomates(p=.00l). These variables were controlled using the ANCOVA. 3. The first hypothesis. "There will be differences at the level of the QOL according to the fecal control type" was supported(F=7.87, p .0059). 4. The second hypothesis. "There will be differences at the level of health perception depending on the fecal control type" was supported (F =8.68, p = .0039). 5. The third hypothesis, "There will be differences at the level of self efficacy depending on the fecal control type" was supported(F=4.58. p=.0344). 6. There were significant positive correlation between the QOL and health perception(r= .8225. p=.0001), and self efficacy(r=.6356, p=000l). From the above results, it can be concluded that colostomy irrigation is a good method to improve the QOL, health perception and self-efficacy. Therefore, colostomy irrigation is an important method for rehabilitation nursing use in the care of ostomates.

5.Concept Analysis of Comfort.
Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 1999;11(1):169-178
The concept of comfort has been regarded as a core concept of nursing and it has been frequently used as one of main goals of nursing care. Promoting comfort has been a very important objective in clinical nursing practice. There have been some ambiguities in defining the concept of 'comfort" among nursing scholars. Therefore it was necessary to analyse the concept of comfort for clearer definition to be able to share among scholars. This study is an attempt to analyse concept of comfort and to do it according to a series of concept development processes described by Walker and Avant. Based on the results of the study, the attributes of scope, precedence and consequence of comfort were identified : 1. Attributes 1) stability 2) directionality 3) equilibrium 4) firmness 2. Scope 1) physical 2) social 3) emotional 4) spiritua~ 3. Precedence and Consequence 1) precedence (1) instability (2) unsatisfied needs 2) consequence (1) physical & psychological relaxation (2) enhancement of self-worth (3) enhancement of self-efficacy (4) satisfied needs.

The purpose of this study was to determine relationships between job satisfaction and burnout experience. The subjects were 225 nephrology nurses in Pusan, and Kyung Sang Namdo and Kyung Sang Bukdo. The data were collected from Nov. 20 to Dec. 3, 1996 using questionnaires method. Job satisfaction measured job satisfaction tool by Slavitt et al, and burnout experience measured burnout experience scale by Pines et al. The questionnaire consisted of question regarding job satisfaction scale(44 items 5 point scale) and burnout experience scale(21 items 7 point scale). The reliability of this instrument was that the hob satisfaction was Cronbach's alpha=0.8298 and the burnout experience was Cronbach's alpha=0.8960. The data were analyzed with the SPSS program using mean, standard deviation, frequency and percentage, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's Correlation Coefficient. The results of this study were as follows : 1. In the demosociographic characteristics showed the highest level was as follows : 26-30 years old group(40.2%), married(56.4%), graduated junior college of nursing(87.6%), non the religious(35.6%), the effect of religion upon life is not effected(35.6%). In the characteristics related to nursing profession showed the highest level was as follows : Hospital style is secondary hospital(that have above 450 beds) (53.3%), staff nurse(72.9%), the length of clinical experience at hemodialysis room is less than 2 years(39.1%), number of patient was assigned a nephrology nurses is 5(40.4%), work in two shift(55.6%), the nurses professional motivation is family recommended(33.8%), the nurses intention to stay is until for needed(58.2%), the chance for professional growth is not enough(44.9%), degree of satisfaction with nursing is moderate(43.2%). 2. The mean score of the total hob satisfaction is 3.06 of 5 point Likert-type scale. Task requirements(3.51) among the component factors of the job satisfaction was the highest value and then the interaction among fellow nurses(3.34), job prestige/status(3.33), autonomy(3.27), organizational requirement(2.55), and pay(2.39) was the lowest 3. The mean score of the total burnout experience is 3.20 of 7 point Likert-type scale. Physical exhaustion(3.36) among the component factors of the burnout experience was the highest value and then emotional exhaustion(3.20), and mental exhaustion(2.95) was the lowest. 4. Job satisfaction according to demosociographic characteristics of the subjects showed significant differences in the effect of religion upon one's life(F=3.268, p=0.013). Job satisfaction according to characteristics related to nursing profession of the subjects showed significant differences in the hospital type(F=3.479, p=0.033), position(F=3.165, p=0.044), number of patient was assigned a nephrology nurses(F=2.552, p=0.040), nurses intention to stay(F=7.153, p=0.001), the chance for professional nursing growth(F=3.735, p=0.006), the degree of satisfaction with nursing(F=12.680,p=0.000).
