Hidradenitis suppurativa is a rare disease which represents a chronic suppurative and scarring process, affecting the apocrine glands due to persistent bacterial infection and apocrine dysfunction. We have experienced a case of hidradenitis suppurativa, 22-year-old female which involved both axillary region. Diagnosis was established by clinical characteristicsymptoms, histopathological findings and bacteriological examinations.

Supersoft roentgen rays called grenz rays, generated in a tube at low voltages and having wave lengths of 1 to 3 angstroms(H.V.L. 0. 01 to 0. 035mm. Al. ), are employed in the treatment of superficial derrnatoses patients (112 cases) in the Department of Dermatology, Cho Sun University hospital from March 1, 1972 to April 30, 1974. Results of these Series are as Follows: 1) Among the ll2 patients, including 28 patients of neurodermatitis, 14 patients of nummular eczema and. 10 patients of atopic dermatitis showed therapeutic success. 2) Grenz ray irradiations were remarkably effective for 6 cases of capillary hemangioma, 2 cases of basal celI epithelioma and 3 cases of verruca plana juvenilis, and less effective for psoriasis vulgaris, tinea pedis, acne vulgaris, nevus verrucosus and alopecia areata. 3) Complications included 21 cases of hyperpigmentation and burning sensations in neurodermatitis and nummular eczema.

BACKGROUND: Recently, it is substituted automatic sphygmomanometer for mercury sphygmomanometer. But it seems to be insufficient for data of its accuracy. A sample accurate automatic sphygmomanometer could have an important role in the management of hypertension. The aim of this study is to assess the accuracy of the automatic sphygmomanometer that is used common practice and at home. METHODS: We collected 247 patients who visited the department of Famiiy Practice of Taegu medical center from April to August 1996. BP was measured sequentially same arm by standard device(mercury. sphygmomanometer), test device A(A&D TM-2650), test device B(seine SE-2000). We assessed the automatic sphygmomanometer according to the standards set out by the British Hypertension Society(BHS) protocol and the American Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation(AAMI). These data were analysed using pearson' correlation and paired t-test. RESULTS: Test device A was highly correlated to mercury sphygmomanometer in systolic and diastolic BP(r=0.90, r=0.88). Also test device B was highly correlated to that(r=0.90, r=0.87). The mean difference between BP value obtained by the standard device and those obtained by the test device A were 0.59+/-7.66mmHg systole(mean+/-SD) and 3.83+/-6.43mmHg diast.ole, whereas the difference between the former and those obtained by the test device B were 1.70+/-7.99mmHg systole.and 5.58+/-6.38mmHg diastole. Comparing to standard device, there were a signifioant difference except systolic BP of test device A(P<0.05). According to the criteria of the AAMI, the diastolic BP of test device B was not enough and according to the criteria of the BHS, the diastolic BP of both test device were not enough. CONCLUSIONS: Both test device were highly correlated to mercury sphygmomanometer. But according to the criteria of the BHS and AAMI, there were not enough. Because the use of automatic sphygmomanometer was popularized, I think that further study will be required to assess of accuracy.

In 20 patients with psoriasis, 27 early psoriatic lesions of 1-2mm size (16 papules with scale and 11 maculopapules without scale) and 15 clinically uninvolved skin at distance of 2-4em from the nearest psoriatic lesion were histologically examined in an attempt to obtain information on the mechanism which initiates the development of the skin changes. Fracture-Dislocation of the the body of the hamate is rare in carpal bone fractures. Recently, we experienced two patients with coronal fracture of the dorsal aspect of the hamate with dorsal subluxation of metacarpal bases of the ring and little fingers. The mechanism of injury was by indirect blow with c1enched fist in two patients. Two patients were treated with closed reduction and plaster immobilization for 6 weeks and physical theraphy. At 13 and 14 weeks follow-up respectively, two patients had no funtional limitation, no complaints referable to hand, and nearly solid union on radiographs. We report two cases of fracture of the the body of the hamate bone, associated with dorsal subluxation of hamatometacarpal joint treated by conservative methods and review of literatures.
