BACKGROUND: Because systolic and diastolic dysfunction frequently coexist in acute myocardial infarction(AMI), we hypothesize that a combined measure of ventricular performance using Doppler echocardiography may be more sensitive and time-saving diagnostic tool for the evaluation of patients presenting with cardiogenic chest pain. METHOD AND RESULTS: Seventy-one patients with AMI (47 male, 59+/-11 years) and 45 patients with normal coronary artery (29 male, 52+/-11 years) were included in the study for measurement of cardiac performance index and established parameters of ventricular function using conventional echo-Doppler methods. a new derived index of cardiac performance: (ICT+IRT)/ET, was obtained by subtracting ejection time(ET) from the interval between cessation and onset of the mitral inflow velocity to give the sum of isovolumic contraction time(ICT) and isovolumic relaxation time(IRT). The mean value of the index was significantly different between normal and AMI(p<0.01). The degree of inter-group overlap was smaller for the index compared to other parameters. within functional groups, the value of the index did not appear to be related to heart rate, mean arterial pressure and the degree of mitral regurgitation. CONCLUSION: cardiac performance index is a conceptually new, simple and reproducible Doppler index of combined systolic and diastolic myocardial performance, and it is useful as screening test for patients with cardiac dysfunction due to AMI.

Journal of Korean Academic Society of Nursing Education 2024;30(2):140-148
Purpose:
This study aimed to examine the impacts of alternative clinical practice on nursing professionalism in nursing students during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Methods:
A cross-sectional study was used for this study. Data were collected from 178 junior and senior nursing students from December 28, 2022 to January 6, 2023. The nursing students’ characteristics, nursing professionalism, clinical competence, extent of alternative clinical practice, and satisfaction with alternative clinical practice were self-reported through an on-line survey. Multiple linear regressions were conducted to examine the impacts of alternative clinical practice on nursing professionalism along with the confounding variables.
Results:
The nursing students reported that they performed alternative clinical practice for more than half of their clinical practice throughout 2022. The extent of alternative clinical practice (β=-.11, p=.028), satisfaction with content (β=.14, p=.045), and evaluation of the alternative clinical practice (β=.17, p=.007) were found to have impacted nursing professionalism. These variables explained 55.6% of the variance in nursing professionalism.
Conclusion
The study results suggest that the alternative nursing practice could impact nursing students’ professionalism. However, it would be possible to develop nursing professionalism if the students’ satisfaction with the alternative clinical practice were increased. Nurse educators need to improve the content and evaluation methods of alternative clinical practice to promote nursing professionalism during the implementation of such alternative clinical practice.

Journal of the Korean Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine 1998;22(3):672-677
OBJECTIVE: This study was carried out to investigate the characteristics of satellite potentials in clinical electromyography. METHOD: A conventional concentric needle electromyography was applied to the biceps brachii and tibialis anterior muscles in 32 normal controls and 14 patients with neuropathies. The satellite potentials were defined as small extrapotentials, preceding or following the main motor unit action potentials(MUAPs) and separated from MUAPs by an isoelectrical interval of at least 1 msec. RESULTS: In normal controls, the frequency of satellite petentials was 1.27% in the biceps brachii and 1.48% in the tibialis anterior and it was increased in neuropathy by 8.53% (6.7 times of control value) in the biceps brachii and 6.70% (4.5 times of control value) in the tibialis anterior. The satellite potential parameters were not significantly different between the control and neuropathy groups. The amplitude of MUAPs with satellite potentials was significantly higher than that of MUAPs without satellite potentials. CONCLUSION: The satellite potentials could be used as a valuable and easily obtainable, supplemental electromyographic parameters for the detection of neuromuscular disorders.

Journal of the Korean Society of Maternal and Child Health 2020;24(4):234-243
Purpose:
This study aimed to investigate mothers’ questions related to parenting young children in the internet community.
Methods:
One representative in the internet community was selected and parenting questions were collected over 2 weeks in October 2019. A total of 15,016 questions were analyzed by frequency and proportion after categorizing of 10 themes; health and daily care, connecting and communicating, play and learning, development and growth, poos and wees, sleep, feeding, solid foods, safety, behavior.
Results:
The most frequently asked questions per age ranged from 1 to 3 months (32.2%). The most frequently asked questions by theme per age were about feeding newborn up to 6 months, solid foods from 7 to 12 months, health and daily care from 13 to 24 months, and play and learning from 25 to 71 months.
Conclusion
As these results reflect mother’s need for information and support, it is suggested that more specific and targeted online/offline support per age should be developed.

9.Palmar–plantar erythrodysesthesia syndrome resulting from toceranib phosphate in a dog with apocrine gland anal sac adenocarcinoma: a case report

Journal of Veterinary Science 2023;24(6):e76-
An 11-year-old neutered male Miniature Poodle with a stage 3 apocrine gland adenocarcinoma was started on chemotherapy with toceranib phosphate after surgery. Beginning on day 10 of toceranib, the dog’s foot pads became erythematous and hyperkeratinized. The dog complained of pain, inability to walk, depression, and loss of appetite. The symptoms resolved when toceranib was discontinued and reappeared when toceranib was resumed. Grade 3 palmar–plantar erythrodysesthesia was identified as an adverse event of toceranib based on the VCOG-CTCAE and Naranjo scale. Although very rare in veterinary medicine, clinicians should consider that palmar–plantar erythrodysesthesia can occur after toceranib administration.
