Rearing is important to the growth and development of the child. Traditionally, nurturing is a maternal role which is expressive role. Maternal role was composed of mothering and maternicity. Rearing is a key concept of psychology, education and sociology discipline. Knowledge of the rearing is an essential component for the development of nursing as a science and a profession. The frist thing to study a concept is thought to be a concept analysis. So, in this study, concept analysis of the rearing was performed to clarify a concept of the rearing as a basis for the study of rearing afterward. The approach used for the concept analysis was the approach presented by Walker and Avant(1993). The defining attributes of rearing, identified in this study were (1) a series of caring activities in parent-child relation, (2) an essential of the growth and development of a child, (3) changeable according to time, place and object, (4) effort is necessary to the rearing, (5) positive or negative aspects (6) attitude, behavior, environment is sub-concepts of the rearing concept. The identified antecedents of the rearing was child-birth. The identified consequences of rearing were desirable or undesirable outcomes. Desirable outcome was the emotional satisfaction and growth in parent-child relation. Undesirable outcome was the emotional disorder and social maladaptation of the child. The empirical referents of the rearing could be the caring phenomena in parent-child relation.

OBJECTIVE: In muscle and neuronal cells, calcium channels have been classified by electrophysiological and pharmacological properties into (1) voltage-dependent Ca2+-channel(1) P/Q-type Ca2+-channel (2) N-type Ca2+-channel R(3) L-type Ca2+-channel (4) T-type Ca2+-channel (5)R-type Ca2+-channel. The present study was done in order to investigate whether there is any difference in Ca2+-channel distribution between activated and normally fertilized embryos. METHODS: The immunocytochemical method was used to identify the existence of voltage-dependent Ca2+-channels in parthenogenetically activated 2-cell embryos by ethanol and SrCl2 treatment. These 2-cell embryos were obtained by exposure to 6% ethanol for 6 min and to 10 mM SrCl2 for 2h. RESULTS: P/Q-type Ca2+ channels and L-type Ca2+-channels have been identified. Whereas, three type of Ca2+-channel P/Q-type, N-type, L-type have been identified in 2-cell embryos fertilized in vivo. CONCLUSION: Activation by ethanol was faster than those by SrCl2. However, there was difference in DAB staining of the embryos between ethanol and SrCl2 treatment (87.7% and 54.1%). Intensity of staining was also different between ethanol- and SrCl2-treated group. However, it has not been known why there was some difference in DAB staining and staining intensity in the present study.

Upper and lower eyelid defects of 40-60% can be reconstructed by the Tenzel semicircular flap technique. Lower eyelid defects of 75-80% can be successfully corrected if the lower eyelid retractors and inferior orbital septum are severed from their attachment. This technique provides several distinct advantages. It is useful for reconstruction of both the upper and lower eyelids. It can be accomplished without borrowing tissues from other sites. It provides a length about 1.5 times greater than would be available along the straight line diameter. The indications for the use of this procedure included basal cell carcinoma(4 cases), compound nevus(1 case), post-traumatic eyelid deformity(2 cases). We obtained cosmetically good results in all cases without any senous postoperative complications.

BACKGROUND: The heart rate adjusted ST segment criteria(Delta ST/HR index and rate-recovery loop or R-R loop) compared to standard ST segment criteria may improve the ability of the exercise electrocardiogram for the prediction of severe coronary artery disease and future cardiac events in patients with chronic angina pectoris, but the predictive value of these criteria for predicting these issues has not been studied in patients with acute myocardial infarction. METHODS: 64 patients with first uncomplicated myocardial infarction were studied. All patients performed predischarge(mean 8+/-4 days) symptom-limited exercise test and coronary angiography(mean 11+/-15 days). During the follow-up period(mean 449+/-273 days), the occurrence of the major cardiac events(death, reinfarction, coronary artery bypass surgery) and minor cardiac event(angina, heart failure) were recorded, and then univariate and multivariate analysis of several clinical and exercise variables known to be as prognostic markers were performed. RESULTS: The results are as follows : 1) The sensitivities of Delta ST/HR index and R-R loop(92%, 83% respectively) for predicting multivessel disease showed no significant difference compared to that of standard ST segment criteria(83%). 2) Major cardiac events occurred in 12(20%) of 64 patients and only single independent predictive factor for its prediction was multivessel coronary artery disease(p=0.0001), whereas total cardiac event occurred in 32(50%), multivessel disease(p=0.003), and maximal workload <5mets(p=0.038). 3) For the prediction of total cardiac event, DeltaST/HR index and R-R loop(all 97%) were significantly more sensitive(p<0.05) than standard ST segment criteria(78%), and there was a tendency to increase in specificity in R-R loop(84%) compared to DeltaST/HR index(59%) or standard ST segment criteria(66%). 4) The negative predictive value of all negative test of three ST segment criteria for predicting total cardiac event was 100%. CONCLUSION: Although the heart rate-adjusted ST segment criteria have no advantage over standand ST segment criteria for the prediction of severe coronary artery disease, they can be more useful prognostic markers by enhancing the accuracy of the predischarge exercise electrocardiogram for the prediction of subsequent cardiac events after a first acute myocardial infarction.

INTRODUCTION: Sleep has numerous important physiological and cognitive functions that may be particularly important to elite athletes. Sleep deprivation can have significant effects on athletic performance. However, there are few published data related to the amount of sleep obtained by elite athletes. We investigated sleep patterns of Korean women golfers using sleep-related questionnaires. METHODS: For this study, 98 Korean university women golfers and 46 age- and sex-matched controls were recruited. All subjects were asked to complete the self-administered sleep questionnaire consisting of questions about habitual sleep patterns (sleep onset time, sleep latency, awakening time in the morning, day time napping time), exercise habits, Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), Insomnia Severity Index (ISS), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), validation of the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). RESULTS: The sleep onset time was significantly earlier (pm 23 : 05 +/- 00 : 52 and 00 : 14 +/- 00 : 51 ; t = 5.287, p < 0.001), the waking time was later (am 07 : 21 +/- 01 : 09 and 6 : 35 +/- 00 : 32; t = -2.715, p = 0.008), the weekday total sleep time was greater (417.77 +/- 78.18 minute and 351.52 +/- 77.83 minute ; t = 4.406, p = 0.001), and the daytime nap time was greater (77.73 +/- 41.28 minute and 20.22 +/- 33.03 minute ; t = 7.623, p < 0.001) in the golf athletes compared to the controls. The PSQI scores were significantly lower, but estimated sleep latency and ESS, ISS, PSS, and BAI scores were not different among the two groups. CONCLUSION: This study suggests that Korean university women golfers have good sleep patterns resulting in no difference in sleep-related stress compared to age- and sex-matched control students.

The prognosis of transitional cell carcinoma(TCC) of the urinary bladder is related to histopathologic parameters, among which the clinical stage and histopathologic grade are most important prognostic determiantors. Recently the immunohistochemical assessment of proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) and nucleolar organizer region number(AgNORs) can obtain the PCNA, and AgNORs stainings were studied in 55 the sequential biopsies of 22 recurrent TCCs of the urinary bladder. 6 cases showed the increased changes of grade, of which 5 cases was independently to the change of grade. The AgNORs in 18 cases showed increase in 10 cases. The comparison between PCNA count and AgNORs score according to grade was performed in the changes between grade II and III, both PCNA count and AgNORs score were increased with in crease of grade. However, The change of the PCNA count was stastically significant, but not AgNORs score.

Acute cerebellitis is a rare inflammatory syndrome and is one of the important causes of acute cerebellar dysfunction in children. The cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) IgG index is most often tested clinically in the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. However, it is not specific to multiple sclerosis, and can be elevated in a variety of neurologic diseases. A 7-year-old boy with acute cerebellitis presenting with sudden onset headache and subtle cerebellar dysfunction demonstrated an elevated CSF IgG index (1.1) and an absence of oligoclonal bands. On the seventeenth day, the follow-up CSF IgG index was 0.71. Two-month and one-year follow-up magnetic resonance imaging revealed cerebellar atrophy, although the patient showed no neurologic deficit. To the best of our knowledge, this case report is the first to describe acute cerebellitis accompanied by an elevated CSF IgG index and an absence of CSF oligoclonal IgG bands. These findings suggest that a breach in the blood-brain-barrier might occur in acute cerebellitis.
