Objective To study the effect of chitosan-pCrmA nanoparticles on the apoptosis of chondrocytes induced by interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β).Methods Chitosan-pDNA nanoparticles were prepared and characterized. The transfection efficiency of chitosan-mediated pIRES2-EGFP was evaluated using fluorescence microscope. The cytotoxicity of chitosan-pIRES2-EGFP nanoparticles in primary rabbit chondrocytes was analyzed by MTT assay. The expression of chitosan-mediated pCrmA in primary rabbit chondrocytes was verified by Western blotting. The effect of chitosan-mediated CrmA on chondrocytes apoptosis induced by IL-1β were analyzed by TUNEL assay.One-way ANOVA was used to analysis. Results The size of chitosan-pDNA nanoparticles was 50 nm.The pDNA release of chitosan-pDNA nanoparticles appeared as biphasic release at pH 2.0 and pH 7.4 buffer. The expression of CrmA in rabbit primary chondrocytes mediated by chitosan could be detected. The chitosan-pIRES2-EGFP nanoparticles had no cytotoxicity. The apoptosis rate of chondrocytes in the chitosan-pCrmA nanoparticles treated group was significantly lower than that of the chitosan treated group (P<0.05) and PBS group (P<0.01).Conclsion Chitosan is an effective non-viral gene transfer vector. The CrmA mediated by chitosan can significantly inhibit chondrocytes apoptosis induced by IL-1β,suggesting that chitosan-pCrmA nanoparticles may be the treatment of osteoarthrifis.

AIM:To investigate how to design personalized cataract surgery programs to achieve surgical correction of preoperative corneal astigmatism with surgical astigmatism under the guidance of corneal topography, improve postoperative visual quality and reduce the cost of treatment.
METHODS: Totally 202 cases ( 226 eyes ) cataract patients were divided into randomized treatment group and individualized treatment group. According to the method and location of the incision, randomized treatment group were divided into 8 groups. Surgical astigmatism after different incision were calculated with the use of preoperative and postoperative corneal astigmatism through vector analysis method. Individualized treatment groups were designed personably for surgical method with reference of every surgically induced astigmatism, the surgical method chooses the type of surgical incision based on close link between preoperative corneal astigmatism and surgically induced astigmatism, and the incision was located in the steep meridian. The postoperative corneal astigmatism of individualized treatment group was observed.
RESULTS: Postoperative corneal astigmatism of individualized treatment group were lower than that of 3.0mm clear corneal tunnel incision in the randomized treatment group, there were statistically significance difference, while with 3. 0mm sclera tunnel incision group there were no statistically significance difference. After 55. 8% of patients with the use of individualized surgical plan could undergo the operation of extracapsular cataract extraction with relatively low cost and rigid intraocular lens implantation, the per capita cost of treatment could be reduced.
CONCLUSION: Personalized cataract surgery programs are designed to achieve surgical correction of preoperative corneal astigmatism under the use of corneal topography, improve postoperative visual quality and reduce the cost of treatment.

Objective To investigate the significance of the serum levels of interleukin-10 (IL-10),IL-13,IL-15 of patients with chronic hepatic failure and the correlation between those inter- leukin levels and nosocomial infections. Methods The serum levels of IL-10,IL-13,IL-15 of 58 patients with chronic hepatic failure were measured by double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immu- nosorbent assay at the time of admission and 2 weeks after admission. Results The serum levels of IL-15 and the propotion of IL-15/IL-10 and IL-15/IL-13 in patients with chronic hepatic failure group at the time of admission were significantly higher than those in healthy control group[(358.16?290.91) ng/L vs (38.55?21.49) ng/L,12.93?14.26 vs 1.10?0.55,98.55?97.5.5 vs 9.70?5.03,respectively,all P=0.000].Those in death group were significantly higher than those in improving group[(479.93v205.52) ng/L vs (244.51?236.29) ng/L,17.65?17.78 vs 8.53?7.98,130.69?115.50 vs 68.55?65.99,respectively,all P

Objective To investigate the incidence and related risk factors of post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD) after acci-dents in the Pearl River Delta .Methods Inpatients after accidents from April 2009 to February 2010 in seven hospitals of the Pearl River Delta cities ,such as Guangzhou ,Shenzhen and Zhuhai ,were surveyed with PTSD Checklist-Civilian Version (PCL-C) and self-made questionnaire .Results In a total of 554 post traumatic patients ,a prevalence of 28 .5% of PTSD symptoms were found in this region with 7 .8% (marks≥50) of severe degree and 20 .8% (marks :38-49) of mild to moderate degree .In the severe PTSD symptoms group ,the top three items were getting nervous and upset once faced similar situation ,difficulty sleeping or easy to be a-wake ,and the trauma experience caused recurring disturbing memory ,ideas or image .Multivariate analysis showed that female ,una-ble self-care ,incapable of working ,lack help from friends ,multiple injury ,and injury time longer were all associated with the PTSD symptom incidence .Conclusion The prevalence of PTSD symptoms is relatively high in injured patients after accidents in the Pearl River Delta .Early identification and intervention of PTSD symptoms in post-traumatic patients are important for the prevention of PTSD .

OBJECTIVETo optimize the conditions of the vacuum belt drying process (VBD) for drying Panax notoginseng extract and compare with methods of vacuum freezing drying and spray drying.
METHODThe optimum conditions of VBD were obtained by orthogonal design and validated by determinations of moisture content of the dried product and recovery of active ingredients. Experiments on different drying methods were also conducted.
RESULT AND CONCLUSIONThe optimum conditions are as follows, the feeding speed was 15 mL x min(-1), the belt speed was 4 mm x min(-1), and the heating temperature was (105, 100 degrees C). Comparing with the drying methods of vacuum freezing drying and spray drying, vacuum belt drying possesses some advantages, such as higher recovery of active ingredients, less moisture content of dried product and better overall yield.

Objective To determine the distributions of major pathogenic capsular types and in vitro antimicrobial susceptibility of different serotypes of Streptococcus suis isolated from clinically healthy sows in China. Methods Tonsil specimens of clinically healthy sows from 10 different provinces in China were collected, a total of 421 S.suis were isolated. Capsular types of S.suis were decided using the sera agglutination reaction. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was performed using a broth microdilution method and the differences between serotypes were decided statistically. Results The prevalent capsular types of S.suis isolated from clinically healthy sows were 9(26.6% ), 3 (23.5%) and 7(15.7% ) types, respectively. 7.4% of isolates were confirmed to be S.suis type 2. Overall, differences in antimicrobial susceptibility among serotypes of S. suis were found. By comparison, lower resistance was observed for S.suis type 2 from clinically healthy sows. Conclusion The prevalence of pathogenic S.suis serotypes from clinically healthy sows again indicates S.suis is a conditional pathogenic bacterium. Differential prevention and treatment regimes should be considered according to antimicrobial susceptibility of different serotypes of S.suis.
