Objective To investigate the influence of human chorionic gonadotropin on testicular germ cell apoptosis of bilateral cryptorchidism in rats. Methods Immature male rats (22 day-old Sprague Dawley) were subjected to bilateral cryptorchidism and injected with 20 U human chorionic gonadotropin from the 22th day to the 34th day every other day. Sham operation rats were as control group. At age 35 days and 60 days, rats were sacrificed for detection germ cell apoptosis by terminal- deoxynucleotidyl transferase mediated d-UTP nick end labeling (TUNEL). Results There were significant difference of apoptosis index (AI) between bilateral cryptorchidism and sham operation groups(P0.05).Conclusion AI of cryptorchidism increases and HCG addes the number of apoptotic germ cells.

Objective: To construct the expression plasmid of a novel gene human NBEAL1 (neurobeachin like 1), and to study its relationship with the pathological grades of glioma. Methods: Total RNA of human glioma cell line U251 was extracted. NBEAL1 expression plasmid pGEX-KG/NBEAL1 was constructed and transferred into E. coli BL21. Recombinant NBEAL1 protein was induced by IPTG and further purified by GST affinity chromatographic column. The purity of recombinant NBEAL1 protein was examined by Western blotting analysis. A NBEAL1 protein specific monoclonal antibody was prepared and was used to study the relationship of NBEAL1 expression with pathological grades of glioma. Results: The NBEAL1 gene fragment was successfully cloned into pGEX-KG expression plasmid and verified by DNA sequencing. The recombinant NBEAL1 protein was expressed in inclusion bodies, with a yield of more than 30% of total bacterial proteins; the purity of purified NBEAL1 protein was above 95%. Western blotting analysis confirmed that the purified protein containing GST tag and NBEAL protein. NBEAL1 protein was lowly expressed in normal brain tissues and highly expressed in low grade glioma tissues; and the expression of NBEAL1 decreased with the increase of glioma malignancy. Conclusion: The NBEAL1 protein has been successfully cloned, expressed and purified. NBEAL1 protein expression in glioma tissues is negatively associated with the pathological grades of glioma.

Objective: To compare hemodynamic effects of infusion of diethylamine/nitric oxide (DEA/NO)and sodium nitroprusside(SNP)during controlled hypotension. Method: General anesthesia was induced in dogs. The twelve healthy adult dogs were randomly assigned into one of two groups. 0.00l% DEA/NO or 0.01% SNP was infused to induce mean arterial pressure(MAP) to decrease to 60% of baseline and be maintained for 30 min. During hypotension, MAP,central venous pressure (CVP), mean pulmonary artery pressure (MPAP)and cardiac output (CO) were measured and recorded. Arterial blood gas, blood lactate and urine output were also measured. Result: HR,CVP and CO were unchanged during hypotension period in both groups, MPAP decreased correspondently with MAP. There were no significantly changes in arterial blood gas, blood lactate and urine output in both groups during hypotension. Conclusion: Controlled hypotension achieved with infusion of DEA/NO has a rapid onset and short duration of action. The hemodynamics were similar to those of SNP.

Objective To explore a technical modification by transperineal Da- W anorectoplasty (Da WARP) on treating low, intermediate anorectal anomalies(AA) and to evaluate the results of long - term follow up. Methods Forty six cases of AA underwent a Da-W ARP,which involved preservation of the rectal end of the fistula and invagination of the perineal skin flap through the neoanus. The clinical records were reviewed and analyzed retrospectively. Results The median follow - up period was 7 years and 2 months. All of them achieved a good fecal continence exception of 1 patient with intermediate AA and associated anomaly, had fair result. Conclusions The Da - WARP is relatively simple and practical methods for surgical treatment of low, intermediate AA, with good long - term results.

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with duloxetine in treatment of depression. Methods Sixty-nine cases of depression were randomly divided in?to study group (n=35 patients) and control group (n=34 patients). The study group received duloxetine combined with 1Hz rTMS treatment on the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex area for 6 weeks whereas the control group received duloxetine combined with pseudo-rTMS treatment for 6 weeks. The Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD-24) and Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale (TESS) were used to assess the clinical efficacy and the adverse reactions before, 2, 4 and 6 weeks after the treatment, respectively. Results Four patients (two from each group) dropped out of the study. The main effects of time (P<0.001) and groups (P=0.029) were significant and so was the interactive effect of time and group (P<0.001). The clinical curative effect of the study group were significantly better compared with the control group at the 2, 4, 6 weeks following treatment (P<0.001). The adverse reactions were mild in these two groups. Conclusions The combi?nation of 1 Hz rTMS with duloxetine is superior to either medication alone for the treatment depression.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the influence of chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndromes (CP/CPPS) on male health.
METHODSWe conducted investigations among 200 cases of CP/CPPS, aged 20 -59 years and randomly selected from 650 out-patients, using an anonymous questionnaire including such items as the patients'age, height, body weight, disease duration and treatment, the results of EPS and semen determinations, and the scores on NIH-CPSI, IIEF-5 and Symptom Checklist (SCL-90).
RESULTSAccording to the 198 valid questionnaires collected, CPSI scores showed 56 (28.3%) cases to be mild, 98 (49.5%) moderate and 44 (22.2%) severe. Sperm density and motility (grade a + b) were reduced in 38 (19.2%) and 47 (23.7%) cases, respectively. IIEF-5 revealed ED in 41 (20.7%) cases, of which 58.5% were mild. Psychological abnormality was found in 94 (47.5%) cases, including anxiety, depression, sensitiveness and so on. NIH-CPSI scores were positively correlated with psychological symptoms and ED (r = 0.25, P < 0.05; r = 0.12, P < 0.05), but not significantly related with sperm density and motility (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe influence of CP/CPPS is obvious on male psychology but mild on penile erection and not significant on semen. Integrated physiological and psychological therapy is recommended for the treatment of CP/CPPS.
