Objective To study the chemical components of Anemarrhenae Rhizoma;To establish a method to determine the content of vitexin;To compare the content difference of vitexin from Anemarrhenae Rhizoma before and after salt processing. Methods 70% ethanol extract of Anemarrhenae Rhizoma was separated and purified by silica gel column chromatography technique, and compound was identified by physicochemical properties and spectral data. HPLC was used with Ecosil column (4.6 mm×150 mm, 5μm), mobile phase of acetonitrile-0.2%acetic acid solution (14.5∶85.5), velocity of 1.0 mL/min, and determine wavelength of 340 nm. Results The compound was vitexin, a good linearity (r=0.999 8) in the range of 0.039 8-1.99μg. The average recovery rate was 98.02%, RSD=0.21%. Vitexin content was 0.008 5% in crude Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, 0.008 1% in processed products. Conclusion This is the first time separation of vitexin from Anemarrhenae Rhizoma. The method for content determination of vitexin is accurate, specific, and highly sensitive in the present experiment. Content of vitexin decreases slightly in processed products of Anemarrhenae Rhizoma compared with crude Anemarrhenae Rhizoma.

Objective To evaluate the inflammatory response in the airway of healthy rats following exposure to motor vehicle exhaust. Methods Sixty healthy SD rats(30 males and 30 females,aged 6 weeks) were randomly divided into 6 groups. The rats in the exposed groups were placed by the main traffic road and those in the control group were placed in the normal laboratory environment. The bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF) was analyzed on the 14th,30th and 90th day of exposure .WBC,NO,TNF-?,and IL-8 in BALF of the rats in each group were tested. Results The NO content [(9.75?4.78) ?mol/L] in BALF of the rats in the group exposed for 30 days was obviously higher than that in the control group [(4.40?1.45) ?mol/L],but there was no any obvious difference between the two groups in terms of the content of TNF-? and IL-8 in BALF. Conclusion This study demonstrates that exposure to vehicle exhaust can induce inflammatory response in healthy rats,the on-the-spot experiment on animal exposure can be used to observe early respiratory tract inflammation and 30 days of exposure is the sensitive period for the change of the inflammatory indicators.

Objective To investigate the distribution and drug resistance of pathogens of ventilator-associated pneumonia(VAP) in general intensive care unit(ICU).Methods Statistical methods were used to analyze retrospectively the data of pathogens and drug resistance of VAP in general ICU from 2004 to 2006.Results Totally 347 pathogens were isolated from deep-part secretion of lower respiratory tracts of 302 VAP in general ICU.The main pathogens included Pseudomonas aeruginosa(32.3%),Acinetobacter baumanii(31.1%),Staphylococcus aurous(16.7%),Klebsiella(7.5%) and Coagulase-negative Staphylococci(6.1%).Gram-negative bacillus showed a high resistance to piperacillin and Cefotaxime but high susceptibility to carbapenems and the enzyme inhibitor antibiotics.Gram-positive coccobacteria showed a high resistance to Penicillin,Clindamycin and Erythromycin but high susceptibility to Vancomycin and Quinolone.Conclusion Gram-negative bacillus was the main pathogen of VAP in general ICU,multidrug resistance was serious.The rate of methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aurous(MRSA) and methicillin-resistant coagulase-negative staphylococci(MRCNS) was high,with serious drug resistance.According to the data of the bacteria pathogen and antibiotics susceptibity,we can select antibiotics reasonably to control the infection and delay the emergency of new drug-resistant bacteria.

Objective To explore the correlative factors and management of secondary high intraocular pressure(IOP) after vitreoretinal surgery for proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR). Methods The data of 51 patients(54 eyes) with PDR after vitreoretinal surgery were collected.The incidence of secondary high IOP was obtained,and the correlative factors leading to high IOP were analysed.Besides,the therapeutic effects of management were observed. Objective To evaluate the effect of penehyclidine hydrochloride on cell apoptosis during acute lung injury (ALI) induced by two-hit in rats.Methods Thirty male SPF Sprague-Dawley rats, aged 8 weeks, weighing 240-270 g, were randomly assigned into 3 groups (n =10 each) using a random number table: sham operation group (group Sham), ALI induced by blunt chest trauma and hemorrhagic shock group (group ALI), and penehyclidine hydrochloric group (group PHC).In ALI and PHC groups, the rats were subjected to the combination of chest trauma and hemorrhage (mean arterial pressure 35-40 mmHg mm Hg, lasting for 60 min) to establish a model of ALI.In group PHC, penehyclidine hydrochloric 2 mg/kg was injected intraperitoneally at 1 h before blunt chest trauma.At 8 h after successful establishment of the model, the rats were sacrificed, and lungs were removed for examination of the pathologic changes and for determination of Bax, Bcl-2 and caspase-3 expression (using Western blot), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) content (by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) , and cell apoptosis (by TUNEL).Apoptotic index was calculated.Results Compared with group Sham, the levels of Bax, caspase-3 and TNF-α and apoptotic index were significantly increased, and Bcl-2 expression was down-regulated in ALI and PHC groups.Compared with group ALI, the levels of Bax, caspase-3 and TNF-α and apoptotic index were significantly decreased, and Bcl-2 expression was up-regulated in group PHC.The pathologic changes of lungs were significantly reduced in group PHC than in group ALI.Conclusion Penehyclidine hydrochloride mitigates ALI induced by two-hit through inhibiting cell apoptosis in rats.

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of Turner syndrome in patients with spondyloarthropathy.MethodsSix patients from our hospital were included and the clinical manifestations,laboratory parameters and imaging presentations were analyzed retrospectively and the relevant literature were reviewed.ResultsThe mean age of these 6 cases was (27±5) years.Two cases were spondyloarthropathy,3 cases were ankylosing spondylitis,1 was psoriatic arthritis.Five cases were complicated with peripheral arthriris,2 cases were complicated with inflammatory back pain,4 cases had vertebral activity limitation,3 cases had joint deformity.The karyotype of 6 cases was 45,XO.Six cases were complicated with osteoporosis.Conclusion Turner syndrome can be presented with spondyloarthropathy,arthritis,osteoporosis.Dysplasia of bone is common.
