Objective To explore the methods of labeling exogenous microglia with superparamagnetie iron oxide(SPIO)particles, and to monitor the labeled cells after transplantation into the normal rat and Alzheimer's disease(AD)model rat with MR scanning. Methods Microglia was labeled with SPIO particles by using transfection agent, hemagglutinating virus of Japan envelope(HVJ-E).Then the microglias which were labeled with SPIO were injected into the internal carotid artery of normal rat (n=5)and AD model rat(n=5).Three days after transplantation,follow-up serial T2*-weighted gradient-echo MR imaging was performed at 7.0T MRI system.MR images were correlated with histological findings. Results In the brain of normal rat,the labeled microglias were demonstrated as several dotty signalintensity decrease on T2*-weighted MR images. The dotty spots were sporadic around the brain.Histological analysis showed that most prussian blue staining-positive cells were well correlated with the area where a signal intensity decrease was observed in MRI.MR could detect the signal intensity change caused by a few labeled cells. In the brain of AD model rat,MR scan showed a well-defined hypointensity area in the region of Aβ42 iniection.Signal intensity decrease was not obvious in the region of saline injection. The number of iron-positive cells(454±47)/mm2 at sites of Aβ42 injection was much higher than that(83±13)/mm2 of saline injection(P<0.05). Conclusion MR can be used as a non-invasive means of detecting transplanted labeled microglia in vivo, with the potential for future clinical application in cell therapy of AD.

Objective To synthetically evaluate the relationship between miR-31 and the prognosis of carcinoma and to investi-gate its related mechanism. Methods The correlative literatures of tumor prognosis were retrieved from the electronic databases PubMed,EMBASE and ISI Web of Science. The pooled hazard ratios (HRs)and 95% confidence interval(95%CI )were extracted. The prognostic data were performed the synthesis analysis. Results A total of 7 trials conformed to the inclusion criteria including accumulated 2 012 cases of carcinoma.Meta-analysis revealed that the decrease of miR-31 expression in the tumor patients had the poor prognosis (HR=0.784,95%CI :0.630-0.974);in the subgroup analysis, the synthesis results adopting the multivariable a-nalysis and China subjects were 3.512 (95%CI :1.797-6.865)and 1.574 (95%CI :1.062-2.333),which indicating that the in-crease of miR-31 expression predicted the poor prognosis;miR-31 had no statistical significance in the digestive system (P >0.05). Conclusion The prognostic role of miR-31 may possess the histological and regional specificity and has the potential as a novel marker.

25%) and low LI groups (positive cell rate ≤25%) of TopoⅡ? and Ki-67. However, in high LI groups, the overall survival rate was lower than those in low LI groups (P=0.002, P=0.004, Log-Rank test), the volume of recurred masses was bigger (P=0.005, P=0.000) and recurrence time was shorter (P=0.000, P=0.000) than those in low LI groups. There existed a significant linear correlation between the expressions of TopoⅡ? and Ki-67 (r=0.935 5, P=0.000). The expressions of TopoⅡ? and Ki-67 were related with pathological category and staging (P0.05). Conclusions Both TopoⅡ? and Ki-67 could be used as specific markers of cell proliferation, but the specificity of TopoⅡ? might be higher than that of Ki-67 in accurately reflecting the cell proliferation. TopoⅡ?, combined with pathological category and staging, may play an important role in prognostic prediction of uterine sarcoma.
