Objective To evaluate the effect and safety of Xiaoyin Ointment for blood-heat syndrome of psoriasis and to study further its effect on single symptoms of psoriasis such as erythema,scale,infiltration,pruritus and lesion area. Methods The 99 selected patients were randomized into 3 groups and were treated by Xiaoyin Ointment,Shidu (Damp and toxin removal) Ointment,and Vaseline Ointment respectively for 8 weeks. Objective: To evaluate the effect, tolerance and safety of low-dose oral amiodarone in the prevention of AF after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Methods: Between 1998 and 1999, 235 adult patients underwent CABG. They were given 0 6 g of amiodarone (80 patients) or placebo (155 patients) daily for 7 days before surgery and 0 2g of amiodarone or placebo daily for 30 days postoperatively. Results: The incidence of postoperative AF was significantly (P=0 001) lower in treatment group (10%) as compared with placebo (21 94%). Only 3 cases had pro-arrhythmic effects and no side effects in treatment group. Conclusion: 1.Perioperative low-dose oral amiodarone significantly reduced the ventricular rate and reduced occurrence and duration of atrial fibrillation after CABG. 2.Low-dose amiodarone is well tolerated and decreased the risks of severe side effects and pro-arrhythmic effects, especially for these patients with high risk factors in perioperative period.

Objective To investigate the therapeutic efficacy and safety of stellate ganglion block (SGB) with ropivacaine to treat Renault's disease.Methods Thirty seven patients with Renault's disease were randomly assigned into two groups:the lidocainegroup (L group,18 patients) treated by SGB with 5 ml of 1％ lidocaine,and the Ropivacaine-group (R group,19 patients) treated by SGB with 5 ml of 0.2％ ropivacaine.The efficacy,adverse reactions,and the recurrence after 3 months of two groups were observed and compared.Results The total effective rate of 89.5 ％ in group R was significantly higher that 55.6％ in group L (P ＜ 0.05).There were less times(22 times) presenting no Homers'sign in group R compared to group L (43 times).The incidence of adverse reaction and the recurrence after 3 months in group R were not statistically significantly different form group L (P ＞ 0.05).Conclu-sions SGB with 0.2％ ropivacaine could obtain better efficacy compared to lidocaine,and had a higher security.

Objective To investigate the effect and mechanisms of radix salviae miliorrhizae (RSM)on acute lung injury (ALI)caused by inhalation of high concentration rocket liquid propellant unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine (UDMH)and dinitrogen tetroxide (N_2O_4). Methods Forty-two rats were divided into three groups:the control group,the inhalation group and the inhalation plus treatment group (RSM group).The latter two groups were inhaled with UDMH 0.98 g/m3 for ten minutes and N_2O_4 0.19 g/m3 for ten minutes.After the inhalation,the rats in RSM group were treated with 9 g?kg -1 RSM intravenously immediately,and were injected into peritoneal cavity with RSM at a dose of 3 g?kg -1 at the 3 hours after the first injection.The rats in other group were treated with equivalent saline.All rats were killed after the observation for six hours.Lung wet to dry ratio (W/D),LDH and total protein in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF),the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD)and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px)in lung tissue,and the malondialdehyde (MDA)of plasma were measured.Histopathology was observed.Results The lung W/D ratio,LDH and total protein in BALF,MDA of plasma were increased in the inhalation group,while the activities of SOD and GSH-Px in lung tissue were decreased.The histopathology of the inhalation groups rats showed that exudation within alveolar space and interstitial thicken of septa was prominent.In the RSM group,above index were improved,and the degree of lung injury in histopathology was relieved.The lung W/D were related to the activities of SOD and GSH-Px in lung tissue,correlation coefficient were-0.661(P

AIM:To investigate the effect of different cutting centers on the visual acuity, refractive diopter and visual quality of patients undergoing laser assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK).METHODS: A total of 80 patients (160 eyes) with myopia treated by elective LASIK were divided into two groups.Thirty-six cases (72 eyes) with visual axis corneal reflection point (VACRP) as the cutting center were included into the VACRP group while 44 cases (88 eyes) with pupil center (PC) as the cutting center were included into the PC group.The uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA), the best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), refractive diopter, corneal aberration [total corneal and anterior corneal surface higher-order aberrations (HOA), spherical aberration (Z40), vertical coma (Z3-1), horizontal coma (totZ31) and offset of cutting centers were determined before surgery and 1mo after surgery.RESULTS: There was no difference in the probability of UCVA ≥ 0.1, BCVA and refractive diopter between the two groups at 1mo after surgery (P>0.05).The astigmatism and cutting center deviation of VACRP group were lower than those of PC group (P<0.05).The totHOA, totZ40, totZ3-1, totZ31, froHOA, froZ3-1、froZ31 and froZ40 were lower in VACRP group than PC group at 1mo after surgery (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: The UCVA of patients treated with both cutting centers for LASIK is good but VACRP has more advantages in reducing the offset of cutting center and improving postoperative visual quality.

Objective To evaluate the predictors of maternal and fetal outcome of pregnancy for systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)patients.MethodsNinety-four patients with 96 pregnancies which were evaluated retrospectively from Jan 1990 to Jan 2008 in Peking Union Medicai College Hospital were divided into two groups:disease stable during pregnancy(group A)and lupus flares during pregnancy (group B).Statistical analysis was performed by X2 or Fisher exact test and Student's t-test.A binary logistic regression model was used to evaluate the predictors of matemal and fetal outcome.Results There were 36 pregnancies with stable lupus disease(group A)and 60 pregnancies with lupus flares(group B).of the 96 pregnancies.18 resulted in therapeutic abortion and 7 in fetal loss,71 resulted in a live birth,3 in neonatal death.The rates of preterm delivery,small gestational age(SGA)and neonatal asphyxia in group B were higher than those in group A(P＜0.05).By binary logistic regression analysis,preeclampsia/eclampsia low serum platelet count and SLE flares were associated with poor fetal outcome(β=2.463,2.228.2.769 respectively.P＜0.05).,rhere were 56 pregnancies with stable lupus disease at the conception with 22(39.3%)occurred lupus flares during pregnancies.Twenty-four preeclampsia and 2 eclampsia were seen in all the pregnancies.Fifty-two pregnancies were complicated with lupus nephritis,and 25 pregnancies(48.1%,25/52)of which were disease stable at the conception,and among 22 pregnancies with disease stable over one year.twelve of which occurred lupus nephritis flares.Three pregnancies which have disease activity within one year before pregnancy all occurred lupus nephritis flares.There were four maternal death which all occurred at the postpartum.By binary logistic regression analysis,lupus nephritis flares were associated with preeclampsia/eclampsia(B=2.658,P＜0.05),and proteinuria at the conception before dilivery were significantly associated with SLE flares(13=3.263,P＜0.05).Conclusion An increase of fetal loss,preterm delivery,SGA and neonatal asphyxia was seen in patients with lupus flares during pregnancy compared with those with stable disease.About 1/3 lupus activity may increase after pregnancy.Preeclampsia and eclampsia were increased when there were lupus nephritis flares.

Objective To understand teachers' cognition and behavior of PBL teaching in nursing college.Methods Eighty teachers were investigated by questionnaire at eight nursing colleges in Hunan province.The percentage was used to do statistical description.Results Totally 75 copies of valid questionnaires were returned,the effective recovery rate was 93.75％.Among all,96％ of teachers thought that teacher was the guide;85.3％ teachers thought that students were knowledge's seekers;93.3％ teachers heard of PBL teaching;81.3％ teaches thought that PBL teaching played a positive role ;74.7％ teaches understood PBL teaching by communication or reading literature; 72％ teachers were willing to try PBL teaching;46.8％ teachers emphasized on multidisciplinary knowledge fusion in teaching; 88.3％ teachers encouraged student discussion in class.The main factors effecting PBL teaching were case and problem design,teaching result evaluation,lack of expert guidance and teacher instruction.Conclusion Teachers have certain understanding of PBL.Organizers should formulate related policies for teachers and students in order to create good education environment.
