Objective:To study the role of angiopoietin-2(Ang-2) in angiogenesis in oral squamous cell cacinoma(OSCC). Methods:Expression of angiopoietin-2 and CD_34 in 41 cases of OSCC(13 cases with lymph node metastasis)and 10 cases of normal oral mucosa was detected by immunohistochemical SABC method. Microvessel density(MVD) in the samples was counted under microscope. Results:Ang-2 was detected in 28 out of 41(68.29%) cases of OSCC and 2 out of 10(20%) of normal oral mucosa(P

Objective To explore the effect of Yiqi-jianpi-jiedu recipe decoction containing serum on Oxaliplatin-induced HepG2 Human hepatoma cell survivin, caspase-3, caspase-9 expression. Methods The serum pharmacological method was used to prepare nourishing Qi and invigorating spleen decoction containing serum of rat. The HepG2 human hepatoma cells were divided into Chinese herb containing serum group, chemotherapy with Oxaliplatin (OXA) group and the combination group (medicine containing serum and OXA), and the blank group without drugs. Apply MTT assay, Western Blotting method and RT-PCR method to detect the cell inhibition rate and survivin, caspase-3, caspase-9 protein and gene expression changes. Results Compared with the blank group, the inhibition rate of HepG2 Human hepatoma cell was significantly higher in Chinese herb containing serum group, chemotherapy group and the combination group (P < 0.05). Compared with thechemotherapy group and Chinese herb containing serum group, the Survivin (0.151 ± 0.054 vs. 0.288 ± 0.089, 0.375 ± 0.063) and the expression of Survivin mRNA (0.205 ± 0.091 vs. 0.487 ± 0.073, 0.725 ± 0.092) of the conbination group downgraded significantly lower (P < 0.05 or P< 0.01). Compared with chemotherapy group and Chinese herb containing serum group, the caspase-3 (0.821 ± 0.079 vs. 0.634 ± 0.098, 0.487 ± 0.102), caspase-9 (0.901 ± 0.047 vs. 0.709 ± 0.054, 0.402 ± 0.012) expression, caspase-3 mRNA (1.928 ± 0.226 vs. 1.564 ± 0.195, 1.287 ± 0.312) and caspase-9 mRNA (2.063 ± 0.517 vs. 1.536 ± 0.084, 1.019 ± 0.182) expression of the conbination group upgraded significantly higher (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). Conclusions Nourishing-Qi and invigorating spleen decoction containing serum may affect Oxaliplatin-induced HepG2 apoptosis mechanism through increasing the suppression on Survivin and promoting the expression of caspase-3 and caspase-9 protein and genes. This research provided important experimental basis for clinical application of traditional Chinese medicine treating liver cancer.

Objective To establish brain hypoxic-ischemic (HI) model using postnatal day 3(P3) SD rats and evaluate the apoptotic neuronal cells in cerebral cortex and neurofunctional development. Methods The P3 rats were randomly divided into HI group (n=35) and control group(n=18).HI was induced in P3 rats with right carotid artery ligation followed by 2.5 h hypoxia in 60 mL?L-1 oxygen at 37 ℃.The injury of neural cells in the cerebral cortex was evaluated by tumor necrosis factor receptor-1(TNF-R1),Caspase-3 immunostaining and Hematoxylin-Eosin (HE) staining in 24 h and 7 d after HI,respectively.Furthermore, the neurofunctional development was evaluated by negative geotaxis reflex and eye opening time. The data were analyzed by SPSS 12.0 software. Results Caspase-3 and TNF-R1 positive cells were abundant in the ipsilateral cortex at 24 h after HI,compared with contralateral part and control group(P

Objective To evaluate the targeted antimicrobial prophylaxis in men undergoing trans-rectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsy based on rectal swab culture results. Methods From July 2008 to April 2012 we studied differences in infectious complications in men who received targeted vs standard empirical ciprofloxacin prophylaxis before transrectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsy. All 344 patients were divided into 3 groups according to their hospital records, inculding group A:without antimicrobial prophylaxis(105 eases) ;group B:antimicrobial prophylaxis with fluoroquinolone(117 cases) ;group C:targeted prophylaxis used rectal swab cultures results(122eases).All cases received enema with diluted iodophors before biopsy. We identified men with infectious complications within 7 days after transrectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsy using the electronic medical record, following 3 conditions. Results In group A of 105 case,17 cases of fever were recorded, including prostatic abscess of 3 cases and septicemia of 1 case.Three cases of fever were occurred in group B,including 1 case of bacteremia and 1 case of prostatitis. No infectious complications were recorded in group C.Conclusions Targeted antimicrobial prophylaxis was associated with a notable decrease in the incidence of infections complications after transrectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsy, although fiuoroquinolone can provide good protective effets.

Ten glucosyloxybenzyl 2-isobutylmalates and one benzyl alcohol glycoside were isolated from the dry tuber of Pleione bulbocodioides, which is a specie of Orchidaceae family and its dry tuber is one of the main sources of traditional Chinese medicine "shanci-gu", by a combination of various column chromatographic methods, including ODS, macroporous adsorbent resin, Sepheadex LH-20, and preparative HPLC. Their structures were identified on the basis of chemical evidences and spectroscopic analysis asloroglossin (1), grammatophylloside A (2), cronupapine (3), (-)-(2R, 3S)-1-(4-β-D-glucopyranosyloxybenzyl)-4-methyl-2-isobutyltartrate (4), vandateroside II (5), grammatophylloside B (6), bis [4-(β-D-glucopyranosyloxy) -benzyl] (S) -2-isopropylmalate (7), gymnoside I (8), militarine (9), dactylorhin A (10), gastrodin (11). Compounds 1-7 were isolated from this genus for the firt time.

This study was to investigate the chemical constituents from pseudobulbs of Pleione yunnanensis, one of the source of traditional Chinese medicine "Shancigu". The chemical constituents were isolated by various chromatography methods, including silica gel, ODS, Sephadex LH-20, and semi-preparative HPLC. Fourteen compounds were isolated and identified from the EtOAc fraction of 90% ethanol extract, including five dihydrophenanthrenes, four bibenzyls, two triterpenoids, and three phenylacrylic acids.
