Blood Replenishing Angelica Decoction [Danggui Buxue Tang (DGBXT)]is a wellknown TCM prescription composed of Radix Angelicae Sinensis and Radix Astragali with the actions ofinvigorating "Qi" and enriching blood. Its action to curtail endothelial permeability induced by histaminewas studied. Endothelial cells isolated from the aorta of neonatal calf were cultured on polycarbonate mi-croporus filter membrane to develop a confluent endothelial monolayer. After purfused with either plainHank's balanced salt solution or that containing 5 g/L albumin, the monolayer was treated with 10-4 mol/L histamine for 30 min either with or without preincubation for 60 min with 10-4 g/mL of DGBXT. Fluidfiltration coefficient (Kf), filtration volume (Jv) and osmotic reflective coefficient (σ) of protein were thenmeasured. The findings showed that DGBXT could curtail the lowering of Kf and Jv and elevation of σ in-duced by histamine, indicating that DGBXT could inhibit the action of histamine on endothelial permeabili-ty, but its mechanism of action needs further study.

Objective To study surface heparinization of small intestinal submucosa(SIS)and an- tithrombegenicity of beparinized SIS films with plasma initiation technique for the engineering vascular scaffolds. Methods The SIS films were grafted with heparin by hypothermia plasma initiation technique. The blood com- patibility of the modified SIS films was assessed by observing blood coagulation time in vitro and the long term pa- tency of hepafinized SIS vascular scaffolds directly under the circulation of blood. Results The hypothermia plasma initiation method could attach heparin onto the SIS surface,The water contact angle of SIS films modified with heparin was decreased while the surface free energy and hydrophilicity increased. The prothrombin time(PT),ac- tivated partial thromboplastin time(APTT)and thrombin clotting Time(TT)of the SIS films modified with heparin were prolonged obviously.Small caliber engineering vascular scaffold made of heparinized SIS films kept the patency for six weeks. Conclusion Heparin can be attached to SIS films by hypothermia plasma initiation technique. The modified surfaces provide good and persistent antithrombogenicity, and possess potent blood compatibility,

Objective To investigate the rule of the cerebral tissues aquaporin-4(AQP-4) expression in acute and chronic hepatic failure mice.To study the molecular biologic mechanism of the diffusion weighted imaging(DWI).Methods Sixty five male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 3 groups randomly, including acute(n=25),chronic hepatic failure(n=25)and control group(n=15). Thioacetamide(TAA)intraperitoneal injection produces the acute and chronic hepatic failure models. All rats in groups were examined with MR DWI.We Observed the distribution of abnormal signal on DWI.The DWI single values of top and lateral cortex of parietal lobe, peripheral region of lateral ventricle in the highest hyperintensity section of brain were measured.Blood ammonia values were examined. The pathologic and immuno-histochemistry and RT-PCR examination for brain specimen were performed. All date were analyzed with statistical methods. Results The mean values of blood ammonia were significantly different (P0.05).Conclusions Increase of the blood ammonia was the main cause for the brain energy metabolic abnormality and AQP-4 mRNA and protein expression. The hyperammonemia was the key factor in the occurrence and development of the hepatic brain edema. The abnormal findings in DWI signal could reflect the range and degree of the brain edema and AQP-4 protein expression.

Objective To investigate the role of calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase Ⅱ (CaMK Ⅱ) in the primary somatosensory area (S1 area) and hippocampi in reduction of remifentanil-induced hyperalgesia by lidocaine in rats. Methods One hundred fifty-six male Sprague-Dawley rats, aged 8-10 weeks, weighing 240-260 g,were randomly allocated into 4 groups using a radom number table:control group (group C,n=6),remifentanil group (group R,n=50),lidocaine group (group L,n=50),and remifentanil+lidocaine group (group RL,n =50).Remifentanil was given as a bolus of 6 mg/kg followed by an 2 h infusion of 2.4 μg · kg-1 · min-1 in group R.Lidocaine was given as a bolus of 6 mg/kg followed by an infusion of 200 μg · kg-1 · min-1 for 2 h in group L.In group RL,drug administration was similar to those previously described in R and L groups. The mechanical paw withdrawal threshold (MWT) and thermal paw withdrawal latency (TWL) were measured before administration and at 0.5,2,5 and 24 h after the end of administration. The rats were then sacrificed immediately after administration and at 0.5,2,5 and 24 h after the end of administration in R,L and RL groups,or at the corresponding time point in group C.The S1 area and hippocampi were isolated for determination of phosphorylated CaMK Ⅱ (p-CaMK Ⅱ) expression by Western blot. Results Compared with the value before administration, the MWT was significantly decreased at 0.5 and 2 h after the end of administration (P<0.05),and no significant change was found in TWL at each time point after the end of administration in R,L and RL groups (P>0.05).Compared with group C,p-CaMK Ⅱ expression in the S1 area and hippocampi was significantly up-regulated immediately after administration and at 0.5 and 2 h after the end of administration in group R (P<0.05).Compared with group R,p-CaMK Ⅱ expression in the S1 area and hippocampi was significantly down-regulated immediately after administration and at 0.5 and 2 h after the end of administration in group RL,and p-CaMK Ⅱ expression in the S1 area was significantly down-regulated immediately after administration, and at 0.5 and 2 h after the end of administration, and p-CaMK Ⅱ expression in the hippocampi was down-regulated immediately after administration, and at 0.5,2 and 24 h after the end of administration in group L,and MWT was increased at 0.5 and 2 h after the end of administration in groups L and RL (P<0.05).There was no significant difference in TWL at each time point among the three groups (P>0.05).Conclusion The mechanism by which lidocaine mitigates remifentanil-induced hyperalgesia is associated with inhibited activity of CaMKII in the S1 area and hippocampi of rats.

8.Factors Affecting Smoking Cessation Intention of Female Workers: Using Community Health Survey, 2014.
Korean Journal of Occupational Health Nursing 2016;25(4):352-361
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing smoking cessation in female workers. METHODS: This study was secondary analysis based on the data from the Community Health Survey, 2014 with the subjects of 2,007 female workers. The data were analyzed using χ² test and multiple logistic regression. RESULTS: 29.2% of female workers had the intention to quit smoking. The subjects with office jobs showed higher smoking cessation intention than non-office jobs. Smoking cessation intention was influenced by the amount of smoking per day, previous attempts to quit smoking, sleeping time, the presence of chronic disease, the presence of depressive symptoms, weight control behavior and subjective body images. CONCLUSION: These findings show that tailored interventions should be provided depending on the types of occupations in order to increase smoking cessation in female workers. In addition, smoking cessation programs need to consider not only the smoking related factors but also physical and psychological health including chronic disease, weight, and depression.

Journal of Korean Academy of Community Health Nursing 2016;27(1):21-30
PURPOSE: This research was conducted to identify long-term care service needs in the baby boom generation. METHODS: Data were collected from September 3 to October 9, 2012 targeting 196 baby boomers residing in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do with the measurement of long-term care service needs having five domains. Collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 20.0 program. RESULTS: Demand for long term care service in those who preferred nursing homes was highest as 4.40±0.69 in the safe environment domain. In case of those preferring home care services, demand was highest as 4.37±0.56 in the social interaction domain. People who preferred nursing homes had higher needs in personal health care and improvement of the service quality domains. Those who preferred home care services showed diverse needs according to their characteristics. CONCLUSION: The baby boom generation had high needs in all the domains of long-term care services and such needs were diverse according to their characteristics. However, long-term care services had limitations that they provided standardized and uniformed services only. Therefore, health care services and improved quality services should be provided in a way of meeting the users' needs, and tailored services should be provided in consideration of the users' characteristics.
