Journal of Korean Academic Society of Nursing Education 2022;28(2):204-217
Purpose:
This study was conducted to determine the factors affecting a hypothetical model of testing for general hospital nurses’ job embeddedness.
Methods:
Data were collected from August 20 to September 19, 2021, by a self-administered questionnaire answered by 428 general hospital nurses. The data were analyzed by SPSS and AMOS.
Results:
Nine of the hypothetical model’s 12 hypotheses were supported by the data collected from all participants. The test results indicate that ego resilience, subjective career success, and recovery experience from job stress directly affect participants’ job embeddedness. Nurses’ work environments were reported to affect ego resilience and subjective career success, while at the same time ego resilience and subjective career success affected the participants’ job embeddedness. Work-life balance was found to affect ego resilience and ego resilience affected subjective career success, and at the same time subjective career success directly affected participants’ recovery experiences from job stress and job embeddedness. Of these variables, subjective career success had the strongest direct effect on participants’ job embeddedness. Work-life balance affected the participants’ recovery experiences from job stress, and their recovery experiences from job stress were found to directly affect job embeddedness.
Conclusion
These results suggest that different management strategies to enhance hospital nurses’ job embeddedness should address nurses’ ego resilience, subjective career success, and recovery experiences from job stress.

Korean Journal of Community Nutrition 2015;20(1):61-72
OBJECTIVES: This study was performed to examine nutrition problems and causes/contributing risk factors. METHODS: This study was conducted using data 1,863 adults visited Asan health screening & promotion center located in Seoul, Korea during May to June of 2013. We used Nutrition Care Process Model developed by the International Dietetics & Nutrition Terminology (IDNT). RESULTS: The most frequent nutrition problem in male subjects was excessive alcohol intake. Men in fifties showed the highest rate of excessive alcohol intake among the age groups examined (22.4%). By comparison, the most frequent nutrition problem in women was inadequate protein intake. Women in fifties exhibited the highest rate of inadequate protein intake (22.5%). The most common contributing factors for these observations were a low preference for dairy products followed by high preference for alcohol and a deficit in food-and nutrition-related knowledge, regardless of the sex and age. The most common nutrition problem observed among the group diagnosed with hyperglycemia or hypertriglyceridemia or hyperuricemia or fatty liver was excessive alcohol intake (p<0.001), whereas the group diagnosed with hyperglycemia or hypercholesterolemia showed significantly higher rate of inappropriate intake of carbohydrate (fructose) compared to the group not diagnosed with such disease conditions (p<0.05). The group diagnosed with hypercholesterolemia, hyperuricemia and fatty liver showed significantly higher occurrence of inappropriate intake of fat (saturated fat) than the group free of such diseases (p< 0.001). The osteopenia group showed higher rate of inadequate protein intake (p<0.001) and the fatty liver group with excessive energy intake (p<0.001). Overall, the results suggest that there is a significant relationship between nutrition problems and health conditions found in groups diagnosed with a diverse array of medical conditions. CONCLUSIONS: Therefore, we strongly suggest that dieticians should implement nutrition interventions with people visiting health screening & promotion center based on nutrition problems and the contributing factors diagnosed by dietitions in order to prevent chronic diseases in this population.

The Journal of the Korean Society for Transplantation 2005;19(1):14-21
PURPOSE: Despite an increasing usage of old or marginal donor kidneys in renal transplantation, little attention has been directed to the structural and functional changes occurring in the remnant kidney of old donor. In this study, the functional and structural changes were assessed in the remnant rat kidneys of early stages of aging after uninephrectomy (UNx) and compared with that of young rats. METHODS: Twelve month-old and 7~9 week-old Sprague- Dawley (SD) male rats underwent UNx and were sacrificed following 1, 3, and 5 weeks after UNx. Extract and Sham- operated kidneys were used as control. Serum creatinine, 24hr urinary protein excretion, and urinary nitric oxide (NO) were measured. The extract kidneys were examined for routine histology and also for immunohistochemical stains for ED-1, inducible NO synthase (iNOS), and PCNA and TUNEL assay. RESULTS: In control rats, there was no difference in 24hr urine protein excretion and urinary NO level between old and young rats. However, the mean serum creatinine level was higher in old rats than that of young rats. After UNx, urinary NO level was significantly increased in old but not in young rats, without accompanying a significant increase of proteinuria or serum creatinine level. Histological injuries of remnant kidneys were not significantly increased after 5 weeks in old rats. However, TUNEL indices were persistently increased at 5 weeks with a return of PCNA indices to a basal level, The number of ED-1 positive cells and interstitial iNOS expression were also increased in remnant kidney of old rats, however, they were not statistically significant. CONCLUSION: UNx does not seem to affect the short-term renal function or histology in 12-month-old rats. However, persistent increase of TUNEL indices at 5 weeks may suggest parenchymal atrophy and a functional decrease in the long-run. A longer observation may be necessary to predict long-term sequelae of UNx in old rats.

Soonchunhyang Medical Science 2016;22(2):163-166
Schwannomas are the most common type of benign peripheral nerve sheath tumors. They typically present as a solitary lesion, but multiple schwannomas rarely occur in patients with neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2), or patients without the other hallmarks of NF2. The latter is termed schwannomatosis. They most commonly occur in the head and neck involving the brachial plexus and spinal nerves. Although rarely found in the extremities, when these masses occur peripherally, they most commonly affect the sciatic, ulnar, and tibial nerve. It is reported that 2.4% to 5% of all patients undergoing schwannoma excision present as schwannomatosis. One-third of patients with schwannomatosis show tumors limited to a single extremity or segment of the spine and it is referred to as segmental schwannomatosis. We report a case of recurred segmental schwannomatosis of the posterior tibial nerve without features of NF2 after schwannoma excision.

Journal of Korean Academy of Conservative Dentistry 2005;30(1):58-65
The purpose of this study was to compare the shaping ability of the three ProTaper(R) instrumentation techniques in simulated canals. Thirty resin blocks were divided into 3 groups with 10 canals each. Each group was instrumented with manual ProTaper(R) (Group M), rotary ProTaper(R) (Group R), and hybrid technique (Group H). Canal preparation time was recorded. The images of pre- and post-instrumented root canals were scanned and superimposed. The amounts of canal deviation, total canal width, inner canal width, outer canal width and centering ratio were measured at apical 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 mm levels. 1. Canal preparation time was the shortest in R group (p < 0.05). 2. The amounts of total canal width in R group was generally larger than the other groups, but no significant differences were observed except at the 1, 3 mm levels (p > 0.05). 3. The amounts of inner canal width in R group was larger than M group at the 1 mm level and H group was larger than R group at the 6 mm level (p < 0.05). The amounts of outer canal width in R group was larger than H group only at the 1 mm level (p < 0.05). 4. The direction of canal deviation in H, R group at the 1, 2, 3 mm levels was outward and that in M group at the 1, 2 mm levels was inward. The amounts of canal deviation in H group was larger than R group at the 6 mm level (p < 0.05). 5. The amounts of centering ratio in H group was larger than R group at the 6 mm level (p < 0.05).

Korean Circulation Journal 1999;29(6):575-581
BACKGROUND: Exercise testing is a standard noninvasive method used in the evaluation and management of patients with suspected coronary artery disease. However, patients with lower limb impairment are unable to undergo a standard bicycle or treadmill test. Alternative methods of exercise testing are needed for patients with vascular, orthopedic or neurologic conditions who cannot perform leg exercise. This study was aimed to determine the diagnostic accuracy of arm exercise thallium-201 SPECT for evaluating chest pain in patients unable to perform leg exercise. METHOD: Twenty-five anginal patients performed arm ergometry testing in conjunction with thallium-201 SPECT. Thereafter all underwent coronary angiography. RESULT: Significant coronary artery disease (> or =50% stenosis) in at least one vessel was present in 22 (88%) of the 25 patients. The sensitivity of thallium-201 SPECT for detecting coronary artery disease was 91%, which was significantly higher than the 32% sensitivity found with the electrocardiographic response alone (p <0.001). Thallium-201 SPECT yielded a sensitivity of 88, 86 and 100% for one, two, and three vessel diseases, respectively, and an 84% sensitivity and 81% specificity for detecting individual vessel stenosis. CONCLUSION: Arm exercise thallium-201 SPECT is useful for detecting coronary artery disease in patients unable to perform leg exercise. In addition, it provides an information regarding exercise tolerance. Therefore, this test appears to be reliable and useful and should be considered in the detection of coronary artery disease in nonambulatory patients.

The Korean Journal of Nutrition 2004;37(7):509-514
This study was conducted to investigate the supplementary effects of Lentinus edodes on blood pressure and blood lipid levels in the Hypertensive Rat. We supplied 3 kinds of experimental diets (Control; CO, cap of Lentinus edodes; LC, and stipe of Lentinus edodes; LS) to spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) for 8 weeks. Diet intake, body weight, organ weights, and serum lipid levels were measured. There was no significant difference in diet intake, and body, liver and epididymal fat pad weights among experimental groups. The levels of systolic and diastolic blood pressure were significantly lower in LC and LS groups than CO group. The concentrations of serum total cholesterol were lower in LC and LS groups than CO group. These results suggested that Lentinus edodes decrease blood pressure levels and serum total cholesterol concentration in the spontaneously hypertensive rats. But these effects of Lentinus edodes didn't show any significant difference between animals fed cap and stipe of this mushroom.

The Journal of Korean Academy of Prosthodontics 2020;58(2):161-168
Failure of fixed implant supported prosthesis is caused by biomechanical factors such as excessive occlusal stress and biological factors such as bacterial infections andinflammation. Implants with severe bone resorption that have worsened without being resolved due to implant complications should be removed and then new treatmentsshould be planned, taking into account remaining teeth, remaining implants, and residual alveolar. The patient of this case removed some of fixed implant prosthesis of mandible. The condition of the remaining alveolar bone was reassessed for further implant replacement and a few implants were placed. Then implant assisted removable partialdenture (IAPRD) treatment is performed using implant surveyed bridge as abutment. Through this treatment, the clinical results were satisfactory on aspect of masticatoryfunction recovery and oral hygiene management. (J Korean Acad Prosthodont 2020;58:161-8)
