1.The Effect of Academic Stress and the Moderating Effects of Academic Resilience on Nursing Students' Depression.
Journal of Korean Academic Society of Nursing Education 2016;22(1):14-24
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify the impact of academic stress on depression suffered by college nursing students and the moderating effects of academic resilience. METHODS: For this survey, 257 students (1st and 2nd year) participated, and it was performed over two weeks in September 2014. In this study, statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS 18.0 for Windows and as a t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis. RESULTS: The students' academic stress had a significant impact on their depression (beta=.279). The moderating effects of academic resilience did not have a significant impact, which is presumably as a result of there being more complex, nonlinear effects, rather than a simple, linear relationship between academic stress and resilience. CONCLUSION: It may be incorrect to assume that academic resilience is a moderating variable that lessens academic stress. It is implied that academic resilience can have a significant impact when internal and external support conditions are met, and that the effects can be reinforced when family support, a learning environment, and improved adaptability to life at school are also provided.

Korean Journal of Rehabilitation Nursing 2008;11(2):90-98
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to examine the cognitive function and degree of dementia patient by doing clock drawing test and to explore the relationship among other dementia screening test. METHOD: The study subjects were 94 dementia in patients department. The data was collected by face to face interview by clinical psychologist from January 2007 to February 2008. The tools were Clock Drawing Test, K-MMSE, K-3MS and CDR Scale. RESULTS: 1) The average score of CDT was 5.13 (2.54), of K-MMSE was 20.53 (4.85), of K-3MS was 61.66 (16.46), and of CDR was 1.2 (.72), those scores showed dementia. 2) There was a statistically the significant difference in CDT (F=2.83, p=.043) and CDR (F=2.00, p=.008) by age. CDT has shown the differences by gender (t=-2.42, p=.018) and education (F=7.66, p=.000). 3) There were significant relationships between CDT and K MMSE (r=-.294. p=.004), K-3MS (r=-.335, p=.001), and CDR (r=.286, p=.008). CONCLUSION: It is believed that using CDT which measures the visuospatial ability of dementia patients and K-MMSE which assesses an ability of language and orientation and K-3MS at the same time helps examining the beginning and the progressive degree of dementia more easily and objectively.

Primary ovarian squamous cell carcinoma is the one of the rarest of all ovarian malignancies. Most of them arise in mature cystic teratoma and a minority of them associated with endometriosis, arising in a Brenner tumor, or appearing in pure form. Due to its rarity, there is no agreement concerning the efficacy of postoperative treatment of primary squamous cell carcinoma of the ovary, although the prognosis of this type of tumor is much worse than that of other epithelial ovarian cancers. We describe a patient with squamous cell carcinoma of the ovary in association with ovarian endometriosis, who has undergone postoperative systemic chemotherapy.

Journal of Korean Medical Science 2007;22(4):762-765
Syringocystadenocarcinoma papilliferum (SCACP) is a rare form of adenocarcinoma of the skin. This is the malignant counterpart of syringocystadenoma papilliferum (SCAP) and usually develops on the scalp in a long-standing lesion identified clinically as SCAP. We describe a 65-yr-old Korean man with a nodule on the right supra-pubic area with a 2-yr duration. Histologically this tumor had a similar overall configuration as in SCAP, but the tumor was asymmetric and poorly circumscribed, extending into the deep dermis and showed cytologic atypia. The tumor cells showed positive reaction to GCDFP-15, but negative reaction to CEA and HMFG-1. We established the diagnosis of SCACP in the patient, and a wide excision was performed to remove the tumor. The patient has been well without relapse or metastasis for 2 yr.

Korean Journal of Medical Mycology 2006;11(2):76-79
Microsporum(M.) canis is one of the zoophilic dermatophytes that is most likely transmitted by contact of infected animals. Cats are the principal reservoir for M. canis in Korea although with less frequency this fungus is also common in dogs. M. canis infections were mostly composed of tinea(T.) capitis, T. faciei and T. corporis. Clinical manifestations were single or multiple well-demarcated, annular shaped, erythematous scaly patches. But when the lesions were distorted by treatment, we should differenciate with other skin diseases. A 21 years old woman had multiple crusted, eroded or ulcerated lesions on the arms, trunk that look like ecthyma. And single lesion on the left chest showed scanty scaly lesion. M. canis was caltivated from the ecthyma like lesion and a cat of the patient. We report a patient with T. corporis by M. canis infection occurred to ecthyma like lesion after topical treatment for 3 months.

Korean Journal of Medical Mycology 2006;11(3):132-140
BACKGROUND: Tinea pedis and onychomycosis is a common disease and the proportion of that in the aged has been significantly increased. Although there have been many reports about tinea pedis and onychomycosis, very few studies about that in the aged have yet been conducted. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the prevalence and clinical features of tinea pedis and onychomycosis in the aged. METHODS: One hundred twenty-six persons over 65 years old who visited the Daegu public aged welfare center (57 persons), Seongju public health center (38 persons) and hospitalized Yeungnam University Yeongcheon hospital (31 persons) from September 20, 2005 to October 7, 2005 were examined clinically and evaluated tinea pedis and onychomycosis. Their clinical lesions were confirmed by KOH preparation and fungal culture. RESULT: Among 126 examined, 62 persons (49.2%) had tinea pedis and/or onychomycosis. Prevalence of the tinea pedis and/or onychomycosis of male (53.2%) was higher than that of female (38.2%). There was no difference in the prevalence between the living area or age. Most common clinical type of tinea pedis was hyperkeratotic type (n=21/66.7%). All patients with onychomycosis were distal subungual onychomycosis. In this study common underlying disease was hypertension (22.6%), diabetes mellitus (8.1%) and cerebrovascular accident (8.1%), however, there was no correlation between underlying diseases and the prevalence of tinea pedis and/or onychomycosis. Among 87 persons, 21 strains of dermatophytes were isolated. They were 19 strains of Trichophyton(T.) rubrum, 2 strains of T. mentagrophytes. The rate of previous treatment for this problem was 32.6%. CONCLUSIONS: All this finding suggest that the prevalence of tinea pedis and/or onychomycosis in the aged was high and they did not know about the disease. Tinea pedis and/or onychomycosis in the aged could become a source of infection and complication. Therefore, it is necessary to educate them and support to treat the disease effectively. Future studies including a large number of examinee and correlation of other diseases will be needed.
