Autoimmune disease is a disease caused by the body's immune system being misdirected to attack the host itself. Patients with this type of diseases are in poor general condition, and are affected by vascular and skin tissue lesions, and therapeutic drugs. Once the skin is broken, chronic wounds that do not heal could easily develop. This type of wounds is difficult to treat and requires joint diagnosis and treatment of multidisciplinary physicians. Therefore, this article reviews the advances on research and treatment of autoimmune disease-related chronic wounds in order to provide reference for their clinical treatment.

Ozone was discovered in the mid-nineteenth century and is proven to have many therapeutic effects, including its common application as a disinfectant to kill microorganisms in various conditions. Ozone therapies have been utilized for various purposes ever since it was discovered. Extensive studies over a century have verified its therapeutic effects, consistency, and safety with minimal and preventable side effects in medical care. Emerging evidence revealed that ozone also plays important roles in the management and prevention of various skin disorders including infectious skin diseases, skin related allergic diseases, erythema scaly diseases, wound healing and ulcer recovery. Herein, the author now summarizes the recent clinical applications of ozone therapy in dermatology and provide commentary on what we have learned in our practice. Our focuses are the efficacy and safety of ozone therapies as well as the application prospects of ozone on various skin disorders. In addition, the author discusses the potential mechanisms involved in ozone therapy and the efforts we should make for.

Lichen aureus is regarded as an uncommon variant of the pigmented purpuric dermatosis and resistant to treatment. Recently several authors reported the PUVA therapy to be effective in the pigmented purpuric dermatosis, but there was no report that the PUVA therapy was tried to the lichen aureus. We tried topical PUVA therapy on a 54-year-old male with bilateral lichen aureus. After 23 times of topical PUVA therapy, the lesion improved markedly. This report may provide a new method of treatment for lichen aureus.

In clinical researches, the authors find that cotton-pave moxibustion has obvious effect for treatment of common dermatopathy, such as herpes zoster. This therapy has some advantages such as easy operation, obvious clinical effect, slight and short burning pain and easy to be accepted by patients. The purpose of this paper is to make the operation of cotton-pave moxibustion standardized, spread and popularize the application of this therapy in dermatopathy through detailed description to the operation method and points for attention of cotton-pave moxibustion and its typical cases.

Blood stasis theory (BST) is widely used in the department of Chinese medical dermatology. Skin lesion we often see and modern medical examination results can be used as evidence for diagnosing BST and indications for using it. Better efficacy could also be obtained by using BST in treating wind evil or heat evil induced skin disease, and itching, hemorrhagic and stubborn dermatoses as well.

"Leukoplakia-like" plaque on the tongue is an uncommon skin manifestation of secondary syphilis. Skin lesions of secondary syphilis usually have numerous presentations, which mimic many other skin diseases, especially in the presence of HIV co-infection. Oral hairy leukoplakia (OHL) is characterized by corrugated whitish patches and plaques on the lateral border of the tongue. It is frequently and strongly associated with HIV but may appear in other diseases. A 47-year-old man with HIV and receiving HAART therapy developed a leukoplakia-like plaque on the tongue, which was first suggestive of OHL but was eventually diagnosed as secondary syphilis.

Infiltration of sarcoid granuloma in old cutaneous scars is one of the uncommon cutaneous manifestations of sarcoidosis. Here, we report the case of a 47-year-old female who presented with swelling and irritation in 5 old scars. She had acquired these scars 9 years ago in a traffic accident. An incisional scar biopsy revealed noncaseating granulomas consistent with sarcoidosis. High-resolution CT (HRCT) revealed right paratracheal, both hilar, paraaortic, and subcarinal lymphadenopathy without any nodular densities in both lung fields. Successful regression of cutaneous inflammation was achieved using a short course of oral steroids.
