Methods:
Papers on the research of HUA prevention and treatment with medicine-food homology from December 15, 2002 to August 10, 2024 were screened and collected through China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. Subsequently, the impact of these medications and their extracts, as well as the active compounds on HUA were assessed.
Results:
A total of 148 relevant papers were collected, including 43 kinds of Chinese medicines and 61 active compounds, all of which have anti-HUA activity. Among them, 41 kinds of Chinese medicines could inhibit the activity of xanthine oxidase, thus leading to the inhibition of uric acid production; and 22 kinds of Chinese medicines could facilitate uric acid excretion, while 15 kinds of Chinese medicines could reduce the inflammation levels in the body and promoting renal protection. Notably, polyphenols and flavonoids are the key active components for the uric acid-lowering effects.
Conclusion
This study systematically summarized and analyzed the uric acid-lowering effects and mechanisms of Chinese medicines with medicine-food homology, laying a foundation for their development as HUA agents.

BACKGROUND: Vascular injuries of the extremitiesy are frequently concomitant with vascular defects and are usually repaired by autologous vessel grafting. However, the source of autologous vessels is limited and the preparation of them is traumatic.OBJECTIVE: To retrospectively evaluate the extremity-preserving efficacy of vascular prosthesis grafting in repairing major vascular injuries of the extremities in 29 cases.DESIGN: A retrospective study.SETTING: Department of Orthopedics and Traumatic Surgery, Center for Battle Wound and Trauma of Chinese PLA, Research Institute of Surgery,Daping Hospital, Third Military Medical University of Chinese PLA.PARTICIPANTS: We selected 29 patients with major vascular injuries of the extremities repaired by vascular prosthesis grafting who received the treatment at the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatic Surgery of the Center for Battle Wound and Trauma of the Chinese PLA of the Research Institute of Surgery of, Daping Hospital of the Third Military Medical University of Chinese PLA between January 1989 and December 2000. There were 23 males and 6 females. Injury sites: 9 cases were at subclavian artery, 6 at axillary artery, 2 at brachial artery, 10 at femoral artery, 1 at femoral vein and 1 at popliteal artery. 11 of these 29 cases (37.9%) were complicated with shock, 8 with fractures and dislocations, 5 with peripheral nerve injuries and 3 with infections.METHODS: The vascular prosthesis was anastomosed end to end with the trimmed culprit vessels. As for the 3 cases with infective arterial injuries, the vessels were placed away from the infected region and were bridged together in a non-inf1ammatory region and then muscles or musculo-cutaneous flaps were used to cover the infected regions. The functions of the extremities of the patients were evaluated according to MAS at week 2 and 1 year after the operation.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The vascular patency rate and the extremity-preserving outcomes..RESULTS: All 29 patients entered the stage of result analysis. Extremitypreserving efficacy: All the patients who underwent vascular prosthesis grafting had their extremities preserved. Only 1 patient had the late sequelae of ulcers in the foot sole due to extended extremity ischemia and nerve damage. The rate of 2-week patency rate of the grafted vessels was 100% and the 1-year rate of patency was 96.5%, as revealed by Doppler blood stream scanning. The excellent and good rate of the function of extremity was 89%.CONCLUSION: Vascular prosthesis grafting is the one of the methods for repairing the major vascular injuries so as to preserve the extremities and their functions.

In 1999, the nomenclature and case definitions for neuropsychiatric lupus syndromes were published by American College of Rheumatology (ACR), and the cognition of neuropsychiatric damage of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) was gradually unified and standardized. Lupus headache is an intractable problem in SLE, especially in SLE patients complicated with multiple organ injury. In general, vascular headache is common in most SLE patients, and a small number of SLE patients complicated with nervous headache are found in clinic. Moreover, its pathophysiological mechanism is far from being understood. Although early diagnosis is essential for good outcomes, the diagnosis method is rather confused in the world. There still exist some limitations in the proposal of clinical classification of headache from ACR and International Headache Society (IHS), and the proposal does not mention the classification of headache related to psychiatric damage. Current therapeutic regimens are almost exclusively based on empirical evidence. Treatment approaches include symptomatic treatment, immunosuppressive, anticoagulant and anti-aggregant therapies. It provides enormous and hopeful space in research of combined therapy strategy, especially in the field of traditional Chinese medicine. The authors discussed the relationship between lupus headache and headache due to internal injury in the view of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, and suggested that the treatment strategy for lupus headache should be made in argument with the headache due to internal injury. Syndrome differentiation treatment according to deficiency in the root and excess in the branch and the therapy for activating blood to dredge collaterals maybe have great advantages in treatment of the headache in SLE.

Objective:To analyze the effects of apatinib on quality of life and immune function in older adult patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer. Methods:A total of 187 older adult patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer admitted to Taizhou Cancer Hospital from January 2017 to January 2021 were included in this study. They were divided into the control group ( n = 93) and the observation group ( n = 94). The control group was treated with carboplatin combined with pemetrexed and the observation group was treated with apatinib based on carboplatin and pemetrexed. Sign and symptoms remission was compared between the observation and control groups. The levels of tumor markers, immune function, and quality of life score were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results:Total remission rate in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (88.30% vs. 69.89%, χ2 = 9.59, P < 0.05). After treatment, carbohydrate antigen 125, carbohydrate antigen 50, and carcinoembryonic antigen in the observation group were (16.25 ± 5.47) μg/L, (15.23 ± 3.27) μg/L and (5.91 ± 2.66) mg/L, respectively, which were significantly lower than (21.49 ± 6.61) μg/L, (19.11 ± 3.48) μg/L and (10.14 ± 2.73) mg/L in the control group ( t = 5.91, 7.86, 10.73, all P < 0.05). The percentage of CD3 + and CD4 + cells, and the ratio of CD4 +/CD8 + cells in the observation group were (69.34 ± 8.85)%, (38.15 ± 6.52)%, (1.40 ± 0.33), respectively, which were significantly higher than (64.51 ± 8.74)%, (33.55 ± 6.33)%, (1.23 ± 0.25) in the control group ( t = -3.75, -5.36, -3.97, all P < 0.05). Quality of life score was increased in each group ( P < 0.001). The amplitude of increase in quality of life score was greater in the observation group compared with the control group ( P < 0.001). Conclusion:Apatinib can effectively reduce the level of tumor markers and improve immune function in older adult patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer and improve quality of life.

Objective To set up a three-dimensional finite element model (FEM) to investigate biomechanics of point contact locking plate (PC-LP) fixating femoral shaft fractures. Methods One intact fresh adult cadaveric femur was scanned by CT at 1 mm interval. Then, the data of CT were utilized to establish three-dimensional FEM by using software Mimics and PRO/E and simulate the different clini-cal loading conditions. The changes of theoretical stress of femur and PC-LP were analyzed under flexion, axial compression and torsion loads. Results (1) Under four-point bending load, the distribution of femur stress was in uniformity, with the largest stress of the PC-LP focused on the edge. (2) Under axial compression load of 250 N, the largest stress of the femur was focused on the screw holes on beth distal ends, with the largest stress of the PC-LP focused on the middle screw holes. (3) Under the torsion load cused on the middlepart and the middle screw holes. Conclusions Under the four-point bending, ax-ial compression and torsion loads, the distribution of femur stress is in uniformity, when the largest stress of the PC-LP focuses on edge or the middle screw holes, while that of the PC-LP on two screw holes of proximal or distal ends.
