Objective To explore the effects of gait training with an alternative gait orthosis (AGO) on the neurogenic bladders of patients with spinal cord injury (SCI). Method Twelve patients with complete SCI at the thoracic and lumbar level were trained for 8 weeks on motor and bladder function. After that, specific gait training with an AGO was given for another 8 weeks. American Spinal Injury Association ( ASIA ) sensation and motor function assessments were done before and after the gait training with the AGO, and bladder capacity, residual urine and urine flow rates were also assessed. Results Compared with pre-treatment there was no significant difference in average ASIA senzsation and motor scores after training, but the maximum rate of urine flow, average urine volume and single urination had significantly increased and residual urine volume had significantly decreased. Conclusions Therapeutic gait training with an AGO can improve bladder function after SCI.

Aim To investigate the effect and mecha-nism of quercetin combined with cisplatin on prolifera-tion and apoptosis of human osteosarcoma cell line MG-63 . Methods MG-63 cells were treated with quercetin alone or combined with cisplatin. Cellular morphologic changes were observed under inverted phase contrast microscope. The effects of proliferation inhibition were assayed by CCK-8 method. The combination effect was judged through Chou-Talaly analysis. The apoptosis ra-tios of cells were analyzed by flow cytometry. The gene expression of Bcl-2 and caspase-3 was detected by RT-PCR assay. The protein expression of Bcl-2 and caspase-3 was measured by Western blot assay. Re-sults Quercetin alone or combined with cisplatin could inhibit the proliferation, but induce the apoptosis of MG-63 cells. Combination of quercetin and cisplatin revealed a synergistic effect on cell proliferation and apoptosis as it reduced the expression of Bcl-2 but en-hanced that of caspase-3 at both gene and protein lev-els. Conclusion Synergistic effect of quercetin com-bined with cisplatin on cell proliferation and apoptosis of MG-63 cells is possibly due to reduction of Bcl-2 and enhancement of caspase-3 expression.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the surgical outcomes of different uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP). METHODS: All subjects underwent overnight polysomnography and were evaluated using the Epworth sleepiness scale (ESS), the Quebec sleep questionnaire and the snoring scale at the baseline and 3 and 12 months following operation. The primary endpoint was the overall effective rate representing the sum of the surgical success rate and effective rate. RESULTS: The overall effective rate at 12 months post surgery was 55.6% for simple UPPP, 95.8% for UPPP+GA, and 92.3% for UPPP+TBA. The surgical success rate at 3 and 12 months postoperation for UPPP+GA or UPPP+TBA was significantly higher than simple UPPP (P<0.05). Marked improvement was observed in all patients in the snoring scale score and the ESS score 3 and 12 months following surgery compared to the baseline (P<0.05 in all). CONCLUSION: UPPP, UPPP+GA, and UPPP+TBA are all effective in improving the surgical outcome of obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) patients with multilevel obstruction. UPPP+TBA appears to be the most effective in treating OSAHS patients.

Objective:To investigate the effect of polyethylene glycol combined with simethicone on boston bowel preparation scale(BBPS) score and tolerance in patients with colonoscopy. Methods:From January 2018 to January 2019, 220 patients who underwent colonoscopy in Beijing Shijitan Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University were selected as the research objects.According to different bowel preparation schemes, they were divided into control group and observation group, 110 cases in each group. In the control group, 4 bags of compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder were added with cold boiled water to prepare 4 L solution for intestinal preparation.Starting 6 hours before endoscopy, 1 L solution was taken every hour, and the interval from the last time to the beginning of colonoscopy was≤4 h. On the basis of the control group, the observation group was given 30 mL simethicone emulsion 4 hours before endoscopy on the basis of the control group. The BBPS score, intracavitary liquid volume score, total score, tolerance and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:The whole colon score (7.16±0.61), left colon score (2.89±0.62), transverse colon score (2.78±0.64) and right colon score (1.58±0.49), intestinal cavity fluid score (1.47±0.48) and total score (8.84±0.87) of the observation group were higher than those of the control group ((5.13±0.76), (2.23±0.86), (2.15±0.76), (1.14±0.16), (0.91±0.55), (7.11±1.04)), and the differences were statistically significant ( t=21.854, 6.532, 6.652, 8.957, 8.054, 13.380, all P<0.05). The tolerance of the observation group (90.00%(99/110)) was higher than that of the control group (81.81%(90/110)), but the difference was not statistically significant( χ 2=3.043, P=0.081). The incidence of abdominal distension in the observation group (1.82%(2/110)) was lower than that in the control group (8.18%(9/110)), the difference was statistically significant(χ 2=4.690, P<0.05), and there was no significant difference in the incidence of electrolyte disorder, nausea and vomiting, hypoglycemia or hunger, palpitation and chest tightness between the two groups (all P>0.05). Conclusion:The application of polyethylene glycol combined with Spanish silicone oil in intestinal preparation can improve the intestinal cleanliness of patients, but does not increase the tolerance of patients compared with polyethylene glycol alone, but significantly reduces the incidence of abdominal distension.
