Objective To investigate the empathic abilities and the association between empathic abilities and executive function in schizophrenic patients. Methods Empathy with the Interpersonal Reactivity Index-C (IRI-C) and executive function with Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST) , Stroop Color-Word Task (Stroop), Spatial n-back Task (n-back) were applied to 74 schizophrenic patients and 69 healthy controls. Results Compared with healthy controls, schizophrenic patients showed significantly lower total scores ((46. 8 ± 10. 0) vs (51.5 ±9.7), P<0.01),and subscores in Perspective Taking ((9.5 ±4.2) vs (12.2 ±3.9) , P<0. 01), Fantasy ((12.5 ±4.2) vs (15.5 ±3.8), P<0.01) and Empathic Concern((15. 9 ±4.2) vs (17. 3 ±3.4), P< 0.05) ,but higher subscore((8.8 ±5. 1) vs (6.5 ±3.7), P<0.01) in personal distress of IRI-C. A significant difference(P<0.01) were fund on the scores of WCST, Stroop task and n-back task between schizophrenic patients and healthy controls. Pearson correlation analysis showed that the total scores of IRI-C was negatively correlated with the response administered (Ra), the number of responses errors (Re) and non-perseverative errors (nRpe) of WCST (r= -0.293, r= -0.253, r= -0.272, P<0.05) respectively, that empathic concern sub-score of IRI-C was negatively correlated with Ra, Re, perseverative responses (Rp) and perseverative errors (Rpe) of WCST (r= -0.326, r= -0.300, r= -0.294, r= -0.287, P<0.01 -0.05) respectively , but positively correlated with Rfp. of WCST (r=0.279, P<0.05), and that the fantasy subscore of IRI-C was negatively correlated with the reaction time of B part(r= -0.299, P<0.01) and C part (r= -0.322, P<0.01) of the Stroop task. Conclusion Schizophrenics have a general impairment of empathy and executive function, and affective empathy is related to the executive function, suggesting that the impairment of executive function maybe the one of pathological mechanism for the empathic deficit of patients with schizophrenia.

Objective To investigate the prevalence and pattern of androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in Shanghai through a community-based survey. Methods A cluster sampling survey was done among the residents in Beixinjing Community, Changning District, Shanghai. All the subjects were asked to fill a questionnaire to provide their general information, including sex, age, native place, physical status, life habit, family history, etc. The diagnosis of AGA was made by dermatologists. To determine the pattern of hair loss,Norwood-Hamilton classification system and Ludwig classification system were used for male AGA and female AGA, respectively. All the data were statistically analyzed by EpiData and SPSS11.5 software. Results Totally, 7056 subjects completed the questionnaire, including 3519 males and 3537 females, and the response rate was 72.5%. AGA was diagnosed in 809 patients, consisting of 701 males aging from 19 to 91 years (mean 64.16±11.9 years) and 108 females aging from 35 to 91 years (mean 70.46±18.89 years). The standardized prevalence (SP) was 9.47% in total, 15.73% in males and 2.73% in females; the difference was significant between males and females (χ2=356.00, P<0.001). A family history of AGA was observed in 52.7% of all subjects including 391 (55.78%) males and 35 (32.41%) females. Type Ⅲ vertex involvement was the most common type in men aging from 20 to 70 years old, and type Ⅵ in those over 70 years old. Grade Ⅰ and Ⅱ predominated in female AGA. Conclusions The results of this survey indicate that the prevalence of AGA is remarkably higher in men than that in women. Furthermore, the prevalence is steadily increased with advancing age in Shanghai.

Objective:To review the clinical effect of oral mucosa prefabricated urethra in the treatment of complicated hypospadias in adult patients. Methods:A retrospective analysis was performed on adult patients with complicated hypospadias who underwent two-stage surgical repair in the Second Department of Plastic Surgery, Plastic Surgery Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences from January 2011 to December 2020. In the first stage, the urethra was prefabricated with oral mucosa, which was 5.0-6.0 cm in length and 1.0-1.2 cm in width. The second stage was urethral anastomosis, in which scrotal flap was applied to cover the wound. Postoperative follow-up was conducted by telephone or WeChat, including penile appearance and the situation of urination. Results:A total of 114 patients were enrolled, age raging from 18 to 63 years old, with an average age of 28 years. There were 22 cases who had underwent one previous repair operation, 69 cases had two repair operations, and 23 cases had three repair operations. The time from the last operation was 6 months to 60 months, with an average of 25 months. Postoperative complications included urinary fistula in 36 cases, urethral orifice stenosis in 52 cases and penile scar in 58 cases. The scrotal septal skin flap was used in 46 cases and scrotal fascia flap was used in 68 cases. The flaps size ranged from 1.2 cm×3.0 cm to 3.0 cm×5.5 cm. Among the 114 patients, 6 patients were complicated with urinary extravasation, which healed spontaneously in 2-4 weeks; 2 patients developed urinary fistula due to blood supply disorder at the distal end of the scrotal flap, which was repaired half a year later. Other patients healed well. 94 patients were followed up for 6-84 months, with an average of 37 months. All patients had no chordee, smooth urination, no urethral stricture and fistula. All patients were satisfied with the appearance of the penis. Urethral ultrasound and magnetic resonance hydrography were performed in 18 patients. The results showed that the reconstructed urethra was smooth, the mucosa graft had good extension, and there was no residual urine in the urethra. Conclusions:Oral mucosa prefabricated urethra could be used for repair hypospadias in adult patients who failed in repair surgeries, and could obtain good clinical effect.
