West China Journal of Stomatology 2024;42(1):56-61
Objective This study aimed to evaluate the influence of ceramic type and thickness on the masking abili-ty and final aesthetic effects of chairside machinable all-ceramic crowns. Methods Six kinds from three types chairside machinable ceramic materials(IPS e.max CAD HT/MT/LT,IPS Empress LT,and VITA Suprinity HT/T)in shade A2 were fabricated to slice specimens into 1.0,1.5,and 2.0 mm-thick sections(n=10).The color parameters of the speci-mens against black and white tiles and four resin substrates(A2,A4,B3,and C4 shade)were measured with a spectro-photometer.The translucency parameter(TP)was calculated using color parameters measured over standard white and black backgrounds. The color differences(ΔE)were cal-culated between there substrate shades(A4,B3,C4)and A2 shade(control group).Two-way analysis of variance(ANOVA)was performed on the TP values. The two va-riables were ceramic type and ceramic thickness.Three-way ANOVA was used to determine the effects of ceramic materials, ceramic thickness, and substrate shades on the ΔE values, followed by Tukey test for multiple comparisons(α=0.05).Results Ceramic type, ceramic thickness, and sub-strate shade significantly affected the ΔE values(P<0.001).The L* and b* values of the specimens increased with in-creasing ceramic thickness, except in substrate A2,whereas the ΔE values decreased. The color difference of all 1.0 mm-thick specimens or all specimens over the substrates C4 shade exceeded the clinically acceptable threshold(ΔE>3.3).Conclusion The masking ability of chairside machinable all-ceramic crowns is influenced by ceramic type and thick-ness,and ceramic material. The thickness of ceramic less than 2.0 mm cannot mask the gray shade abutment.

Objective:To preliminary explore the changes in blood system in pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs)-related liver damage. Methods:General situation, liver function, biochemical blood test, routine blood test, coagulation function markers, etc., of 77 cases with drug-induced liver damage admitted to the Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University from 2012 to 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. Patients’ were divided into PA group, other traditional Chinese medicine group and Western medicine group according to their medication history. Simultaneously, the changes in liver function were observed in the established mice model of monocrotaline-induced liver damage. Liver tissues HE staining and blood routine indexes were observed.Results:24 cases received PA, 24 cases received other traditional Chinese medicine, and 29 cases received western medicine. Alanine aminotransferase was lower in PA group than the other two groups ( P < 0.05), and the total bilirubin and direct bilirubin were significantly lower than the other traditional Chinese medicine group ( P < 0.05). The peripheral platelet count of the PA group was (84.11 ± 26.91) ×10 9/L, which was significantly lower than the lower limit of normal, and had statistically significant difference with other traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine group ( P < 0.01). Thrombocytocrit, mean platelet volume and platelet indices of PA group were statistically different from the other two groups ( P < 0.05). The D-dimer level in patients with PA group was (2.62 ± 1.93) mg/L, which was higher than the upper limit of normal, and significantly higher than the D-dimer level of the other two groups of patients ( P < 0.01). Meanwhile, prothrombin time was longer in PA group than that of the other two groups ( P < 0.01), and platelets count were decreased significantly in the mouse model of monocrotaline-induced liver damage after alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase elevation ( P < 0.01). Conclusion:PA-related liver damage has lower peripheral platelet counts, and the peripheral platelet counts of these patients are lower than other types of drug-induced liver damage. In addition, increased D-dimer in patients with PA-related liver damage indicate a potential risk of thrombosis.

Objective:To evaluate the relationship between lifestyle factors and depressive symptoms based on the TCLSIH cohort of 2013-2016 and provide evidence for the intervention on lifestyle in the prevention and treatment of depression in the future. Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted in 24 256 persons by using a self-rating depression scale (SDS) to assess the depressive symptoms, and lifestyle questionnaire survey and physical examination were carried out. By using software SAS 9.3. The study subjects were divided into two groups: non-depression group (SDS score <45) and depression group (SDS score≥45), and the relationship between lifestyle factors and depressive symptoms was analyzed. Results:The study subjects in depression group accounted for 16.59 %; the baseline survey showed that compared with non-depression group, the subjects in depression group had higher neutrophil count and lymphocyte count ratio (NLR), lower BMI, lower total energy intake, and lower physical activity level, and tended to take less plant food diet, more animal food diet and sweet food diet ( P<0.000 1). In the depressive group, there were more smokers and less occasional drinkers ( P<0.01), and there were more women, home-aloners, people with lower education levels, people with lower total household income, and less staff members, married and those who liked to contact relatives and friends, but the proportion of people who spent more than 5 hours daily for outdoor activities was higher. Multiple linear regression analysis results showed that being male, aged, NLR, smoking ( OR=1.14, 95 %CI: 1.03-1.26), quitting alcohol, being home-aloners, animal food diet ( OR=1.41, 95 %CI:1.35-1.46), sweet food diet ( OR=1.17, 95 %CI: 1.13-1.22), sleep time >7.5 h/d, outdoor activity time 3-5 h/d, outdoor activity time >5 h/d were positively correlated with depression ( P<0.05). BMI( OR=0.98, 95 %CI: 0.97-0.99), education level ( OR=0.76, 95 %CI: 0.70-0.82), being staff member, total household income ( OR=0.63, 95 %CI: 0.58-0.68), total energy intake, physical activity ( OR=0.86, 95 %CI: 0.84-0.89), married status, move contacts with relatives or friends were negatively related with depression ( P<0.05). Conclusion:Lifestyle is closely related to the occurrence of depressive symptoms, and lifestyle intervention seems be a new way to prevent and treat depression.

Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2025;66(5):437-442
By exploring theories related to yin-yang, body and spirit, and the relationship between nature and human beings, this study proposed the holistic functional perspective in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) rehabi-litation. This perspective emphasizes the influence of various internal and external factors on the body's function and health status, with the integration of form and spirit as its core concept. It integrates the principles of correspondence between nature and human beings, as well as the unity of individuals and society, positioning holistic function as the key focus in TCM rehabilitation practice. It guides the prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation treatment of functional disorders, ultimately achieving the goal of comprehensive recovery of health. Additionally, the study reviewed the current application status of the holistic functional perspective in clinical TCM rehabilitation, clarified its integration throughout the entire TCM rehabilitation process, with the goal of providing a theoretical and practical foundation for further research and application in TCM rehabilitation.
