To study the kinetics in vivo of a Hantaan virus DNA vaccine, we constructed a fusion DNA vaccine,pEGFP/S, by cloning the S segment of Hantavirus into the vector, pEGFP-C1, which encodes Green fluorescent protein EGFP. In this report, we provide evidence that pEGFP/S was distributed and persistently expressed for more than 60 days in several organs after inoculation. Our findings suggest that the persistent immune responses induced by a Hantaan virus DNA vaccine are likely due to the plasmid pEGFP/S deposited in vivo, which acts as a booster immunization.

Objective To provide the anatomical basis for detecting distal outflow tract in late atherosclerosis obliteration in lower extremities.Methods Ten lower extremities that were amputated above knees because of late atherosclerosis obliteration were used in this experiment.The blood vessels in the residual bodies were perfused to run blood vessel cast mould to observe the anatomical and pathological change of the popliteal artery,the anterior and posterior tibial arteries and their collateral vessels.The number and distribution of those collateral vessels were also observed.Results The popliteal artery,anterior and posterior tibial arteries were all occluded due to atherosclerosis.However,there were three types of those collateral arteries:① Atheromatous plaque in bole stretched into collateral arteries and led to occlusion.② Obliteration was only observed at the initial segment,with no obstruction at the distal end but extenuated.③ The collateral arteries originated from the bole artery symmetrically,keeping communicative with each other through punctiform interspaces.The last two types were mainly distributed at the inferior segment of popliteal artery,the superior segment of anterior and posterior tibial arteries,forming vascular anastomosing network in the whole cnemis muscle group.Conclusion Un-obstructed collateral arteries in certain places can be still found,though atherosclerosis obliteration is formed in popliteal artery,anterior and posterior tibial arteries in lower extremities.Therefore,it may be possible to construct collateral outflow tracts if endo-membrane stripping operation is performed.

AIM: To summarize the effect of femoral popliteal arterial graft operation and the influence of construction of bypass circuit outflow tract.METHODS: A retrospective study was performed in 15 cases of femoral popliteal arterial bypass.RESULTS: A femoral popliteal embolism occurred in one patient undergoing simple femoral-popliteal arterial bypass in the early postoperative period and in 2 patients in the long-term followed up.However,the effects of constructing bypass circuit in the same time were very well,and only one patient had chill on the limbs.CONCLUSION: The operative results are better when the construction of bypass circuit is performed in the femoral-popliteal arterial graft operation,further more,a new method is provided for construction of distal end outflow tract.

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate status quo of the application of antibiotics for children and its trend.METHODS:The data about the amount and money of antibiotics used from2002to2005in out patient pharmacy of our hospital are collected and analyzed.RESULTS:Cephalothin,penicillin and azithromycin were widely used in our hospital and the using situation was reasonable at large,but some problems still existed.CONCLUSION:Rational using of antibiotics need efforts of all the departments in the hospital.

AIM: To investigate the effect of ischemic preconditioning(IPC) on expression of nitric oxide synthase(NOS) in rat smallfor-size liver graft and its significance.METHODS: Sixty SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups(n=10 pairs/group): nonwarm ischemia group(NWI);warm ischemic group(WI);and ischemic preconditioning group(IPC).The models of rat small-for-size liver transplantation were set up by two-cuff technique.Expression of eNOS mRNA and iNOS mRNA in hepatic tissue were detected by fluorescence-quantitating-PCR.RESULTS: Heptic expression of eNOS mRNA post-IPC was higher than that pre-IPC(P0.05).It was higher in IPC group than that in NWI and WI group(P

OBJECTIVETo observe the primary prevention role of Wuling Capsule (WC) on poststroke depression (PSD) patients.

METHODSAcute stroke patients were recruited and randomized into 2 groups by stratification, 55 in each group. All patients received same routine treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Patients in the experimental group additionally took WC (0.33 g each pill), 3 pills per day, three times per day; while those in the control group additionally took placebos, 3 pills per day, three times per day. Two weeks consisted of one therapeutic course. The diagnosis of PSD was performed once every other week. Those in accordance with PSD diagnosis discontinued any drug therapy. Those not in accordance with PSD diagnosis continued the drug therapy for 1-12 therapeutic course(s) (in total of 6 months). If they were still not in accordance with PSD diagnosis, then they discontinued the drug therapy. The morbidity of PSD, the average time of depression occurrence, Hamilton depression rating scale (HAMD) score, and adverse reactions were observed.

RESULTSThe 1-, 3-, and 6-month morbidity of PSD was 8%, 16%, and 34% in the experimental group, while they were 19.6%, 29.4%, and 54.9% in the control group. The occurrence rate was lower in the experimental group than in the control group. Besides, there was statistical difference in the 6-month occurrence rate between the two groups (chi2 = 4.465, P < 0.05). The average time of PSD occurrence was longer in the experimental group than in the control group (14.96 +/- 8.31 weeks vs. 9.36 +/- 6.06 weeks; t=6.762, P < 0.05). The HAMD score at the PSD occurrence was 11.96 +/- 2.14 in the experimental group, lower than that of the control group (14.57 +/- 4.24), showing statistical difference (t=5.641, P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONWC was superior to the placebos in lowering the incidence of PSD, delaying the occurrence time of PSD, attenuating the depression degree of PSD, and had certain preventive effect on the incidence of PSD.

Objective:To explore the relationship between Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and periodontitis. Methods: 498 subjects were recruited in this study and were divided into three groups: mild periodontitis group (77, 15.5%), moderate periodontitis group (143, 28.7%), and severe periodontitis group (278, 55.8%). Clinical examination indexes included probing depth (PD), attachment loss (AL), sulcus bleeding index (SBI), plaque index (PLI) and the level of the alveolar resorption. Lung function of each subjects were also examined. Results: The levels of AL, PLI and alveolar resorption in COPD group were higher than non-COPD group. Significant differences of "FEV1% pre"(F=3.59,P=0.028) and "FEV1/FVC"(F=4.84,P=0.008) were found among different degrees of periodontitis. Negative relationship was found between the level of "FEV1% pre" and the periodontal index (AL, PLI, alveolar resorption), and the same relationship was found for "FEV1/FVC". Conclusion: Correlation is found between COPD and the periodontitis index (AL, PLI, alveolar resorption).
