Chinese Journal of Applied Physiology 2014;30(3):247-250
OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of recombinant human growth hormone on serum lipid in aged male patients with chronic heart failure (CHF).
METHODSEighty seven patients with chronic heart failure(> or = 60 years old) were randomly divided into 2 groups: the CHF control group (n = 46) who received regular therapy and the CHF experimental group (n = 41) who received regular therapy and recombinant human growth hormone. The treatment would be continued for 3 months. Another group was normal control group (n = 10). The detection of serum growth hormone (GH), insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) was carried out before and after treatment in the participants.
RESULTSBefore treatment, the levels of GH and IGF-1 were not significantly different among groups. After treatment, the levels of GH (0.71 +/- 0.34 vs 0.96 +/- 0.48) and IGF-1 (95.64 +/- 21.11 vs 111.64 +/- 23.14)in CHF experimental group were higher than those before the treatment. In CHF control group, the levels of GH(0.81 +/- 0.32 vs 0.79 +/- 0.29) and IGF-1 (97.82 +/- 19.74 vs 99.65 +/- 20.11) had no significant change after the treatment. After treatment, the levels of GH (0.96 +/- 0.48 vs 0.79 +/- 0.29) and IGF-1 (111.64 +/- 23.14 vs 99.65 +/- 20.11) in CHF experimental group were higher compared with that of CHF control group. Before treatment, the serum levels of LDL-C, HDL-C, TC and TG had no significant difference among groups. After treatment, the levels of LDL-C (2.11 +/- 0.82 vs 1.76 +/- 0.51) and TC (3.78 +/- 1.34 vs 3.21 +/- 1.17) in CHF experimental group were lower than those before the treatment. However, the levels of HDL-C (1.10 +/- 0.31 vs 0.99 +/- 0.28)and TG (1. 89 +/- 1.07 vs 1.66 +/- 0.95) had no significant change after the treatment compared with before treatment. In CHF control group, the serum lipid levels had no significant change after the treatment.
CONCLUSIONAs the treatment of rhGH for aged male patients with chronic heart failure, GH influences lipid metabolism, which reduces the level of LDL-C, TC. However GH has no effects on the serum HDL-C and TG level. With the treatment of rhGH for long-term, lipid metabolism should be paid attention, and the treatment for blood lipid reduction should be adjusted in time.

Microbiology 1992;0(06):-
The physiological character, functions and applications of photosynthetic bacterium had been discussed, during biotransformation of teh com straw treated with ammonia in aerobic, anaerobic and natural conditions,Comparing the concentration of teh reductive sugar and teh protein in teh fermented borth,we suggest a good way of biotransformating teh corm straw by photosyntehtic bacterium. In the photosynthetic bacterium fermentation in which the com straw treated substrate, teh concentrations of the reductive sugar and the transformative reductive sugar and teh protein in teh fermented borth were higher thean those without ammonia. Analysis of the results shows theat the transformative reductive sugar and protein were the nourishment of photosynthetic bacterium,so theere may be a way that we harness the corn straw by teh photosynthetic bacterium.

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of electroacupuncture (EA) plus long-snake moxibustion for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) due to kidney deficiency and cold coagulation. Methods: A total of 60 patients in active stage of RA were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, with 30 cases in each group. Patients in the control group took methotrexate tablets and nimesulide dispersible tablets orally for treatment, while those in the observation group received additional treatment of EA plus long-snake moxibustion. Both groups were treated for 12 weeks. The post-treatment changes in symptomatic grading and quantifying score, disease activity score with 28 joint counts (DAS28), and inflammatory indicators erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP) were observed, and the efficacy was evaluated. Results: The total effective rate in the observation group was 89.9%, versus 76.6% in the control group, and there was a significant difference in the total effective rate between the two groups (P<0.05). After treatment, the symptomatic grading and quantifying score and DAS28 in both groups were significantly improved (all P<0.05), and the improvements in the observation group were more significant than those in the control group (both P<0.05). Besides, there were 11 cases with low disease activity index (DAI) and in remission in the observation group versus 5 cases in the control group, showing a statistically significant between-group difference (P<0.05). The ESR and CRP scores in both groups were significantly reduced after treatment (all P<0.05), also showing statistically significant between-group differences (both P<0.05). Conclusion: The efficacy of additional EA plus long-snake moxibustion based on oral medications for RA due to kidney deficiency and cold coagulation is better than that of the oral medications alone.

Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 2001;0(08):-
Objective To develop a diagnostic test based on indirect immunofluorescence assay(IFA) to detect special antibodies in the serum of SARS patients, thus to provide a reference material for confirmation of the clinical diagnosis of SARS. Methods SARS coronavirus GZ01 and BJ01 strains isolated in our laboratory were used to infect Vero E6 cells. When CPE reached 25%, cells were trypsinized and transferred to 10 well slides in a quantity of 40?l with a cell density of 2?10 7 /ml. After 4 hour incubation at 37℃,the slides were fixed with acetone, and IFA was used to detect antibodies in serum samples, which were obtained from 154 SARS patients and 14 non SARS patients with respiratory disease, as well as 100 healthy volunteers. Results IFA method for detecting antibodies of SARS coronavirus was developed. Sera from one hundred and forty two out of 154 clinically diagnosed patients were IFA positive, with a positive rate of 92 3%. Sera from 14 non SARS patients with respiratory disease and 100 healthy persons were all IFA negative. Conclusion The IFA method we developed was sensitive and specific in detecting SARS antibodies in serum, and was a reliable test for laboratory diagnosis of SARS coronavirus.
